Fun fact: The Shrouded Ghost isn't just the rarest Megalodon. It's the rarest creature in the whole game. There are special skeletons that can spawn, that drop the premium currency, and even those have a much higher spawn rate.
@@ButterBallTheOpossum I've gotten 2 ancient skeleton from the past month lol. I've never met anyone who even had the title for killing the shrouded ghist
I once encountered a crew of newbies, they started playing that day, with basic outfits and ships, and they all had the Hunter of the Shrouded ghost title. They didn't even know how rare it was
One time a newbie joined an open crew I was in and he found a reapers bounty just lying on the ground in front of the gold hoarders sadly I had to leave before I could see the value :(
The fact that in almost 500 hours I encountered nearly a dozen Ancient Skellies (and those are without the season 7 Community Day event) and not a Shrouded Ghost is baffling, Rare literally said "yep, you can get our real life money currency for free but not this white fish that doesn't even drop unique loot, bye"
I gave up. The shrouded ghost is a myth to keep you playing. People that have the title have paid the devs to get it. Or know someone that can pay the devs to get it.
The term despawn is typically used for when an npc or item actually is removed from the game. I think he means de-aggro for most of this. The meg will swim back to its spawn point if you get too close to an island, and THEN it will despawn
Maaan the Shrouded Deep was such a good event! I really hope they turn it into a voyage in the future (and that it works exactly the same, but make it drop like a bunch of gems!!) if they ever expand on the Hunters Call.
Apparently they also added the boss music from the set encounter Quest to the Shrouded Ghost if it appears in the wild too, making it easier to know when you're lucky enough to find it
I Recently defeated it while in the roar, can confirm it exists =P the fight wasn't much harder than normal , but got a swanky figurehead and title to prove it
the best place on the map I've found for hunting megs is just south of Mermaid's Hideaway. there is a massive area of grid squares that allow you to sail in a full circle constantly without adjusting course for a good 15-30min at a time
In all my years of playing sea of thieves and getting to pirate legend ive not seen a single shrouded ghost, but i did find this friendly sailor who had the "hunter of the shrouded ghost" Title
small tip , the shrouded ghost has a custom theme so if u hear a strange new very epic and up beat theme out of nowhere just know that it means the shrouded is near and u should drop everything you are doing that second
i've killed the blue, purple and yellow variants, but i've never encountered the black or white ones. What I did encounter though, was a kraken immediately after setting sail for the first time. That was a great introduction to the game
i am not even kidding when I say this. I started playing this a few days ago with my friends who had ~lvl 20 reps. We were coming back from a cracked red skull vault raid, and we got hit by a shrouded ghost Meg.
@@timogeerties3487 Thats what i said right? are more likely whenever there is not an active world event. It does not stop them from having a chance of spawning during a world event, I've been Krakened during a Skeleton fleet, also been Meg during a Kraken fight. World Events either are on land or at sea.
@@somebodykares1 you said it's unlikely for a Kraken to spawn during a world event while I said that it's impossible. The spawnrate of Megs aren't tied to world events
@@timogeerties3487 I never said its unlikely only that its more likely to happen whenever there is not an active world event. Its an actual mechanic in the game allot of Sea of Thieves players state that its more common between world events to find them, but they can still happen during world events. Fort of the Damned, Legend of the Veil, and Davey Jones Fight are not a World Events for they are triggered by players.
@somebodykares1 krakens are a world event so you cannot get krakened while there is an active world event, and megs spawn randomly when you are far enough from an island or seapost
for defeating a meg, there are a few things that you should keep in mind: 1. to stop a megs attack, it is not counting canonballs, but rather looks at the dmg dealt to the meg, meaning you can for example stop a meg on the slupe with 1 canonball + other things that deal equal dmg to a canonball. this seems insignificant, but it for example makes tridents extremely usefull on a slupe, as you can charge up the shot before the megs attack and then follow up with an immediate canonball to even on short ranges where you couldnt reload fast enough instantly stop the attack. also on the slupe and the brig, the remaining player that wouldnt have access to the canons can somewhat account for missed canonballs with a trident. 2. in a fight with a meg it is very helpful to drop your anchor, as its otherwise quite common to accidentially leave the megs area wich also despawns it (not only if you get close to an island) and if you just raise sails, the meg might just push you out of his area if he manages to actually hit you with an attack, as it adds quite the momentum to the ship. also it helps with a rather wierd proberty of the ai. the meg will always try to attack the flanks of the ship, but it will usually try to calculate when to strike based on the megs position and the current movement of the ship. by being anchored you basically reduce your momentum to almost 0 (even when anchored your ship has a little space to move slightly into all directions and it still can slightly tillt left and right) this reduces the megs ai`s potential for errors in the calculation, wich reduces the chance that the meg will attack you from an angle where you cannot fire canons at it. 3. now this one is probably the least well known thing about them in my opinion. the meg has an ai that dictates it when to attack, and whle there still is a bit of rng in there, by studying the megs pattern you can get really close to 100% prediction of when the meg attacks based on where he surfices after he dives when he is done with an attack, based on the speed with wich he is moveingaswell as the direction in wich he moves, based on the side he last attacked on, and based on if his last attack went through or got blocked. this is the hardes one to apply in game, but if you keep this on mind and make a few mental notes anyone with a level head shoukld be able to get a good feel for when the next attack comes and from where, wich makes it easier to block attacks, as you can hold on to your canonball and your trident charges right before he attacks
I’ve seen the shrouded ghost, but only once. It was maybe 3 days ago, and I was in an open crew galleon leaving the outpost. As soon as it appeared, I realized it was the shrouded, but my crew completely ignored it, and after a few moments, it despawned as we passed too many islands. This is why I go megaladon-hunting solo.
The most tried and true means of killing the megladon is the trident. It has scaled damage against PvE enemies and can fire omnidirectionally unlike the cannon. To track the Meg easily, hop in the water with the trident. Quick, easy kill if you keep a few on your boat. Same for ashen winds. 4 tridents, done in 5min.
I remember coming across one shortly after they added the different versions to the game. I knew it was rare at the time but none of my friends believed me and they sailed away. Never seen him since 😭
The Megalodons spawn alot more in Safer Seas at this point that they are literally my pets if i don't shoot them lol. They are pretty neutral in Safer Seas. The game spawned like 10 Megalodons in my 6 hours session, each one is a different variation (haven't encountered Shrouded Ghost though, that one is still pretty rare). But yeah, they just appears out of nowhere and circling around my ship, following me until i reach an island, having them around is kinda fun that way lol.
@@VonWasHere13 Don't count on it though, Shrouded Ghost is still extremely rare, even in Safer Seas. I have never encountered it in the last 50 hours i played in Safer Seas, but they always spawn the other Megs alot though.
I encountered a shrouded ghost this week! It was pretty nerve-wracking because I really wanted to kill it, but our two-man sloop was already having a tough time against a skelly galleon. We managed, though, and got the commendation! Then the figurehead bugged and wasn't awarded. Now to find my first ancient terror. I have cannonballs with its name on it.
I'm not completely sure if this works since I've never tried it myself, but if you do the Shores of Gold tall tale, wait for 1 hour and then go to the coords U1, it can force an emergent encounter, and one of those can be a megalodon
i wish they'd do another new patch where they made sharks op and spawn more often. Of course make certain megalodons rare but make one GIANT and make it unsafe to travel on sea of thieves for a bit. make it fun
Hello! This is a little-known fact, but there is a scripted megalodon encounter if you exit the shroud west after completing "The Shores Of Gold" tall tale.
Bro I've seen the Shrouded Ghost only once. I guess I got lucky as hell because I only had like 30 hours at the time. I didn't know it was rare or special, and the other people in my crew were also new. I wish I would have known and at least attempted to take it down. Live and learn. I'll probably never see one again
i remember my buddies and i playing roughly when this game came out.. ship full of loot headed to sell it, and a Meg spawned.. we kept going to the island, maybe 50 feet out and it was still chasing us. I figured it was bugged, so i told my friends not to shoot it, and they didnt listen.. Ended up crashing our games and losing all our loot
Wow. I saw the shrouded ghost today and I didn’t fight it bc I never fight megladon. They’re just kinda annoying so I always sail away. I didn’t even know the white megladon was rare.
One minor fact that many people may not know: killing the Shrouded Ghost awards you a unique figurehead that is a recolor of the Hungering One Figurehead
There is another way. Whenever I have done a lost cargo voyage for the merchants and the ships log includes a meg attack, there is almost always a meg waiting at the next point of the quest.
I will never forget playing the hungering one event in a galleon and having a sloop do supply runs back and forth. Took us like 3 hours to kill the damn thing
literally 4 days ago or 3, me and my friends were goofing around, i they were newer then i was, and then the shrouded ghost popped outta nowhere, we all panicked, since for us, a meg is a meg, and they’ll try sinking us so we sailed to the nearest island, and now i know how lucky we were of seeing it
i remember during my first week out on the seas, i didnt know that megs could be solod so easily. id usually just sail right through them. and im pretty sure that i passed a pinkish white fin, not knowing that it was as special as it was. still angry, but will probably never see it again
Here’s a better idea beside looking for him Stop your ship , go fish and he will (maybe )spawn like regular it happen to me So I guess that’s the same for the kraken (of course if there is no world event like fort or tornado)
i start playing that game with my dad when the only thing that you can do is be a legend pirate. i stop playing that game but my dad continued, he found shrouded ghost 2 times and killed him 1 time. crazy
I got jumped by a shadowmaw yesterday. My reaction was “We got a hungering one. Wait a minute that’s not hungering that’s not hungering”. I proceeded to unmake them.
Can shrouded ghost be pink? Last night my friends and I wouldn’t stop encountering megas and the last encounter was a pink like the fin was a glowing pink. Any idea which one that is?
When I was playing with my brother the shrouded ghost meg was the first Meg we encountered I had no idea what it was but my brother did and was freaking out 😅
I've always called the hunger one. The beast after the song that summons it summon the beast It's not to be confused with Summon the megaladon Which should have been playing in the background of this video because theming
I just want to know how the heck the shrouded ghost is so rare and yet it’s the only Meg I have ever encountered. And that I have encountered it literally 5 times in the past 3 days
found this after i downloaded sea of thieves for ps5 with no clue as to what the game was about and ran into a meg maybe ten minutes after the maiden voyage. Ended up being the only one in my group with the Hunter of the Hungering One title 😭
I was playing sea of thieves with my brother and we had just finished getting a massive amount of loot While we were leaving to go sell all of it we encountered 2 people on a ship and I’d say they were way better than us They sunk our ship and we lost all the loot but they had a reapers flag on so we could sea(get it) where they were They had all of their loot on the rowboat so my brother launched himself out of a canon and was able to undock the rowboat they were too busy firing at our boat to realise Our plan was that I’d get the boat for enough away so I could meet my brother to get the loot But they kept firing and the ship was almost sunk I was getting rid of the water so fast so that the boat stayed afloat But then out of nowhere a megladon spawned and attacked their ship so I was able to repair the ship and get the loot and we got a lot of gold No one probably read all this but I like telling stories so if you read all this Thanks!
Yeah so I was playing last night, I was fishing when I saw a skeleton galleon. I chased it and started fighting it. Then a Meg spawned, then another player, a sloop, rolled up. It was funny as hell
We love your channel! If you're a fan of high-seas adventures, you should definitely try the Corsairs Legacy free story demo. It's got that Sea of Thieves vibe you'll enjoy!
Oh god. I saw that ghost one! I just started and it was coming at me so I booked it and ran. I guess I should of stayed and fought it as that might of been the only time I’ll ever see it. Though I am new and on a sloop.
I got a bunch of loot and got my first encounter with a megalodon then my friend on the call asked me what color it was i said purple he told me to just get out of there i had been playin the game for about 2 weeks i was scared definitely a cool addition to the game
I've played for about 3 years only seen the shrouded ghost once my friend and I dropped anchor and got a little to close to a rock in water and float it we haven't seen one since and its been like 2 years now
Bro i got two megs on my ship once we just started and didnt know the difficulty of them so we just ran to the outpost and sold the sea fort loot since we discoverd how much there is and was our first play through absolutly horriefed by reapers and sh*t
0:54 I encountered the bottom left one 3 days ago and killed it. I think I may have seen the middle and bottom right one before but I ran away to an outpost
I met shrouded ghost at least once in my enite time of playing SoT, sadly it was when i was still new, so I didn't kill it and instead was running away.
