Monks (and nuns) are still chanting these chants, and others, in Orthodox monasteries all over the Balkans, Roumania, Ukraine, Belarus, and Russia.

Merle Langlois it's not magical. doesn't have anything with magic. It's a part of the True Church of Our Lord and Savior Christ. It's the Third Rome,bearer of the sane traditions into an insane world...Of pure misticysm into a rationalized world...

I would agree with Merle. The clothing conveys dark connotations in my view. What's interesting to note is that none of the iconic depictions of the Apostles and Saints show them wearing such outfits, and why do the Orthodox never smile?

They don't smile because they know the truth, and it is a constant struggle fighting demons and what they do is horrific, they don't smile bc there is no point. I think smiling is more of a cultural thing and is completely normal to not say "cheese" all the time. When you are cleaning peoples homes of demons and going to bishops etc to clean people and their homes etc, it is exhausting and extremely intricate and precise. Fighting the devil is real, otherwise these men wouldn't do what they do.
