I don't want to call it mediocre because there's definitely some bangers that stay in your head (ie: Astroman, Final Wily). Also, I unconsciously think of a funny phrase when hearing "boss intro".

I got weirdly obsessed with learning Aquaman's stage on my guitar all the way through when I was 10. Always awkward when someone asks what the first song I ever learned was and I say "that water song from Megaman 8".

? its easy. especially with screws and upgrades available. I think subtanks too if im not mistaken? Wily's Castle is always pretty hard but this is prob the easiest OG megaman the nes ones were brutal

I grew up with it, and have had mega nostalgia for it for years and years. Used to listen to it while studying in college. Yet, for some reason, I can sort of objectively say that it isn't the BEST ost out there, even for Mega Man standards. Some songs are incredible, others are just okay. Kind of funny how opinions change over time!

If anyone is interested the Megaman 8 soundtrack is available for purchase on vinyl. Check out the laced records website. It will probably be sold out by the time you read this comment. It’s a digital world but don’t abandon physical media and also more importantly don’t abandon the video game franchises you grew up with!

Me too! I hate the hate it gets. Though I understand that there are flaws (and maybe even a lot of it 😅), but people don't seem to talk about the killer soundtrack, how beautiful it is, the characters, the stages, etc.

It's a good/decent Mega Man game. I haven't hated a single classic MM game I've beaten since I truly got into the series last year. I have least favorites, but that's about it.

Me too. I remember i really didn't like the game for several reasons and at one point i hated it, but as i played it more and more my opinions have changed. Now i think the game is pretty decent and i would play this over X6 any day (and even X5, i don't dislike that game but it goes on a bit too long for me)

This game had such a polished feel and aesthetic to it. It still feels current. Sometimes it feels like pixelated games nowadays are trying to achieve what MM8 did years ago.

@@TritnewNG here each stage has noticeable different soundtrack, describing the environtment/situation we are in, mm11? all the stage sounds nearly the same sheeshh, the game itself is good but its soundtrack is a BIG NO NO to me. i can listen all song continously track by track of each megaman from 1-10 without skipping, mm11? 3 tracks and i change it immediately to previous games ost

This soundtrack is very underrated. It’s very relaxed compared to the upbeat nature of the other classic series games, but that’s what makes it good in my opinion. MM8 doesn’t get enough credit.

One of the best sound tracks and easily number one on my list. This captures so much of the 90s house and dance movement. Shusaku Uchiyama definitely was motivated by funky bass rifts and housy-loungy style of beats.

Composer: Shusaku Uchiyama Primarily a sound arranger, but also known for composing: *Certain tracks from Mega Man X3 *Resident Evil 2 *Mega Man 9 (Tornado Man's stage, only) *Mega Man 10 (Chill Man's stage, only) *Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City It's a shame that he hasn't done more, because he clearly has a knack for really capturing the feel of a setting in his arrangements, while also creating impossibly catchy tunes. This soundtrack is just bursting with personality. It will always be my favorite Mega Man OST, right next to X4, Legends 1 & 2, and Mega Man 2 .

this was the one of the 2 console games i had as a kid... my dad gave me his PlayStation and this one game, since we couldn't afford the Xbox. I remember I had this game and Road Rash. I loved this game as a kid, and it was all i talked about and i dressed up in make-shift outfits of Megaman and everything. Soon my mom accidentally lost my PlayStation and the Megaman disc in storage, and I was devastated. Coming back and listening to the soundtrack or watching walk throughs makes me so happy, but so sad that i won't be able to play it again. :C the soundtrack to this game always makes me so happy. It really is a fantastic music track.

I really think Megaman 7 and 8 soundtracks are the right continuation to the NES games. That's keeping the line, taking all the potential of better softwares, AND... AND! it marks a parallel line with the X series.

It's so crazy how Wily Stage 1 didn't make it to the vinyl ost boxset. It's really one of the best wily tunes, I think it's severely underrated, but people just hate that jump jump slide slide shit.
