And Tech Kraken is an understudy to Phantom of X’s Guardians who died in MMZ1. He also had a thing about death, as upon losing, he tries to lunge and self-destruct one-shot you even after you win, rather than escape to recover. All three other Guardians lose to Zero but still go on living, but Phantom would rather murk himself and try to bring you down with him than self-preserve; victory even in death.

+Entity1037 He was talking about Maverick Hunter X. You know, the PSP remake of the original Mega Man X? In the Sigma Stages of Maverick Hunter X, Launch Octopus is the first boss to be rematched against X. Just before the battle starts, Launch Octopus announces that he has been ordered to fight X, and X deduces that Sigma must have rebuilt all the Mavericks without restoring their original personalities.
