Damn dude! You made this game feel like a cake walk. Back in the day, I never could finish the game thanks to Quick Man's lasers. Then again, I was 8 and the third game was right around the corner. Never did go back and finish it. Seeing this makes me want to do that now.

Oh yeah one of the 1st games i ever played. Funny story, I had kind of a hacked version where I could kill Air Tikis by mistake with 1 shot with anything(bought the game at flea market). Imagine my surprise years later when I played it again xD

Mm2 was a labor of love that defined an entire era of video games. One of 10 games I have a sealed copy of. Also leaf shield and birds or screws is a brilliant way of doing an infinite lives trick. Also, not cheezy... one of the best nes endings ever.

After binging your channel, all I can say is that dog has amazing taste in video games. Also seems to be a glutton for punisment considering its choices. Probably gets tired of that evil guy constantly grabbing its games.

There's one good trick to avoid being hit by the Boobeam Traps, much like MM1 pause trick. When they start flashing signaling they are going to shoot, start pressing the start button repeatedly to come in and out of the menu, the shots will not harm you that way.

In the early 2000s, at a friend's birthday party, we were all in our late teens early 20s. We busted out his NES and as a party trick I blasted through this game on difficult, zero deaths, except for the crash bomb boss in Dr. Wily's castle. It was my best NES game playthrough. I played this game to death as a kid. Thanks for the nostalgia!

Nice! This was the first Mega Man game I had and the 2nd one I beat. I didn't beat MM2 until after I beat MM4. I like your strategies on how to get through it. I've been doing it the "hard way" all these years with picking Metal Man first, using the arm cannon on Crash Man (I did eventually learn how to beat him with it without getting hit once), etc. Always good to see some new ideas I just never thought about!

Mega Man 2 and 3 were the very first games I had for the NES. I believed I knew everything there was to know about them. Boy, you proved me SO wrong!

Although metal blades are easier in the "living room" boss area, bubble lead is actually its weakness as each component only needs to be hit by one bubble lead as opposed to two metal blades.

Love this game. One of my top ten in terms of nostalgia.

I'd never seen the time stopper trick with the air tikis before, so that was useful. A few useful extra tidbits for you. For those that do Heat Man before Air Man, item 1 can also be used to make the air tiki sections trivial, but you'll have to be able to get through the yoku block section of Heat Man's stage without item 2. Once you figure it out, it's not TOO bad, but the timing is wonky, so it may take LOTS of practice. The armored sniper joe in heat man's stage can be skipped entirely with the time stopper. Use it while he's in mid jump and walk right under him. A useless but fun to watch trick in stage 2 of Wily's castle is to hold right after item 2 gets up to full speed. You have to give it a couple of seconds to reach that speed, but watching the result is rather amusing. For anyone having trouble in the spike pit in stage 3 of Wily's castle, opening the menu resets your falling momentum completely, so you can open the menu repeatedly to easily adjust where you're at and avoid the spikes. For the fight with Wily's ship, his actual weakness is the crash bomber, which you SHOULD be completely out of by design. HOWEVER, if you have a single use left by using the trick in your video (which is harder to pull off than it looks, but not TOO hard), you can one shot one of his forms. If you hit the cockpit, it just does 4 damage, but if you hit a little BELOW the cockpit where your shots would normally bounce off, the crash bomb explodes automatically. If you hit the ship in that spot as it's moving away from you, that one bomb will wipe out one of his 2 life bars. This is best saved for the second form, especially in difficult mode. It'll take some practice to line up the shot just right, but it's immensely satisfying when you pull it off. Finally, you can also potentially WRECK Quick Man with the crash bomber if you're immensely lucky. He usually ends up over by the gate very quickly at the start of the fight, so if you plant a crash bomb there as soon as you start, he'll likely get hit at least once, and possibly several times. I'm not entirely sure if a single bomb can one shot him on difficult, but with some luck, it should on normal. This trick won't work when fighting him again, the big open room allows him too much mobility to make it effective. Oh, and never ever use a crash bomb against Heat Man. Refills his life completely.

I remember sitting in the floor having a conversation with my friend back when this came out and we first beat bubble man... Pondering whether it was "lead" as in the metal, or "lead" as in lead/follow, considering one of the best uses was to use it to "lead" in front of you to find traps and such.

This path is awesome for early item access and the Heatman method is perfect. But doing the lasers at full speed is fun.

Fun fact: the original way to kill Crash Man was to star in one of those Incredible Crash Dummy commercials and buckle up. He would fail to do so and eject from the stage, landing face first at the title screen, where he would proceed to hand you his power before succumbing to his injuries. Capcom thought this was too dark, and so instead had you blow him up with lemons and air. Ah, good old Mega Man 2. This was my entry into the franchise. I didn't play the first game until I was around 17 or 18. I never beat this until like, ten years ago? My problem was that damn Boobeam Trap and running out of ammo. I didn't actually know dying without getting a game over would keep the walls from reforming. These days I've SOMEHOW acquired enough skill to beat the boss without dying and recharging my Crash Bombs, but that bit of info was SUPER handy back in the day. Allowed me to FINALLY beat this masterpiece.

There were a lot of useful ideas I had never thought of even though Ive beaten this game many times. Like time stopping the falling spikes. Good idea.

I can't remember the last time I used the Flash Stopper for Quick Man's stage. You just have to cut the corners super fast and you can go right through. Takes a little memorization, but it's doable every time!

The original MegaMan was so different from the rest. The music is so awesome in this game so is the level designs as well. 10/10

My favorite Mega Man! It took me years and I do mean years before I learned how to strategize this game! I would never use my special powers that I got from each robot I would play the whole game with my normal gun! And I beat a lot of the robots doing it like that! I'm gonna have to dust this bad boy off and give it a run through! I'm 43 now maybe age and wisdom can help me make it a lot more easier now 😄

Love this so much! I usually play Quickman near the end, but I tried that level earlier thanks to your video. I generally always play Airman first. I tried your order though, and tried the time stopper. I must admit, though, that I fell multiple times. I think my muscle memory won't allow me to play that level any different than I have for years, with no weapons. :) Still, I think it is a great trick. I also like it for those creatures (did you say hot dogs?) in Woodman's level. Here are a few more comments: 25:35 Good advice to not worry about that extra life. I have jumped off the platform 2 to get it, and if you get back on another platform 2 after that, the blocks will catch up with you and knock you off. (Speaking of platform 2, I love how you used it to escape the atomic chickens in Woodman's level) 39:40 I have been hit by the enemies (sorry, I don't remember their names) at this point and they have knocked me off that ladder. When that has happened, I can't seem to move over fast enough on the screen below it and fall into the instant death spikes. So I actually use the time stopper there. It will also allow you to run through the walls without using crash bombs. I also love the chainsaw enemies as they are great when you need to recharge your weapons, but what I consider the most crucial place to recharge is 47:43. I stand at the top of the ladder, face right, and use my mega buster (or pea shooter as my brother and always called it) to kill trash cans (it is important to stay facing right or they may start coming at you from another direction). The mega buster works best because you can take them out one a time (metal blades can take all of them out at once and drop items on the spikes). It also doesn't use up any weapons. I feel that this part is really your last chance to refill any weapons and as you have said you need full crash bombs to beat that level. You also need the platforms to be somewhat full. And you need bubbles for the very end. I also like full metal blades because I use them a lot during the stage where you refight the bosses. And finally, I love how you use the fire. That is the one weapon I can, and usually do, go the entire game without using. I have tried charging it to take out Woodman or the hot dogs and I just can't get it to work. Again, muscle memory. '

the thing about Air Man, you can just dodge his shots 3 times, let him jump towards you, keep to the left corner, so you'll be behind him. Then, just smack him with Leaf Shield a few times and you win. Easy peasy.

My favorite game in the NES era. Best music, best graphics, best difficulty balance, replay value, etc. It's a game that I could enjoy from begining to end in one session. I could beat it almost with my eyes closed, yet it still offered some challenge. Interesting boss order though. I usually went a different route: Metal Man (killed with mega buster), Bubble Man (killed with metal blades), Heat Man (killed with bubbles), Wood Man (killed with heat cannon in one shot), Air Man (killed with leaf shield), Crash Man (killed with tornadoes), Flash Man (killed with crash bombs) and last Quick Man (killed with time stopper). And the bonus of starting with Metal Man is metal blades were such an OP weapon. Effective against 90% of enemies, the longest lasting ammo, slightly stronger than mega buster, yet with the advantage of shooting in 8 directions.

The advice for using the time stopper on the air-tikis is a life saver. The jump is so short I otherwise hit the horns EVERY SINGLE TIME. Unfortunately I'm playing Air-Man's stage on the Game Boy version where the time stopper doesn't exist.

Fun facts about Mega Man 2: heat man can get back to full healt with a charged blast of is own weapon. Metal blade is one of the most effective weapon trough the game and for most bosses : flash man,bubble man, metal man (no joke) Wood man.

Beat MM1 thanks to you, now I'm moving on to MM2. Tip for people who want to use Flash for both platforming segments, those Scworm are useful for filling up health and ammo. Just grind on the pipes until you have what you want. I recommend killing at least one Scworm so that the pipes from both of them don't gang up on you.

When I first played this game, I had played the entire game without using any of the weapon upgrades then I got to the part where you had to use Crashmans power and I thought the game was broken and unbeatable. I told my mom and she said did you read the instruction manual? When I did I was so mad at myself

Another fun thing about Crash man: he will only jump and attack if Mega Man jumps OR attacks. Until then he just runs back and forth through his room, and you can "dance" along with him.

As a kid I'd usually use an e-tank and beat Metal Man first; his weapon was so ridiculously overpowered that it basically broke the game! I think "Clash" man is the proper name, "Crash" man being an example of bad "Engrish"

Love this video! Wanna add some fun/good facts: Mega Man 1-3 are - also - available on Sega Genesis Mini! Mega Drive Mini in Europe. But these versions are remakes for "16-bit graphics/console". So if there is any Mega Man fanboy out there that wanna collect more Mega Man games - don't forget Sega Genesis Mini with the 3 first games!

When fighting the Boobeams you can cheat a little to avoid their shots. When you pause the game Megaman actually disappears. When you unpause he sort of blinks back into the game. When you see the Boobeams start flashing just repeatedly jam the pause button as fast as you can until the shots pass by you. They'll completely miss because Megaman isn't actually there to take the damage.

It's easier to beat the crab-bots in Bubble Man's stage with your regular cannon instead of metal blade. It only takes one shot to beat them that way, and you save your important metal blade. In Dr. Wiley's first stage, you want to shoot your first Item One while you're still on the ladder.

While the metal blades DO work for Wiley 2 it’s actual weakness is the BUBBLE LEAD
