It literally released the same day as this came out, I guess people just weren't paying attention and immediately jump to conclusions. This is a tease for the show, I know the writers want to make a third movie but this scene isn't that. The brain guy literally was in a pre-release cover photo for Megamind Rules. This misconception reminds me of how people still think The Doom Syndicate originate either from this movie or tie in games when it would literally take a small portion of research to even find out that they were supposed to be for the original movie and were scrapped in development.
For everyone saying “I’m gonna say this isn’t canon” It isn’t. As much as the creators say, it isn’t. There’s so many contradicting points in this that it literally cannot be connected to the original movie
I don’t think ANY of the original writers for the first movie came back, so it’s definitely not canon and the button of doom is the true sequel and end to this franchise
Did they just forget about the the entire pre title sequence of the first movie? It's bad enough they make a totally mediocre sequel, they had to completely ignore canon too? They are determined to ruin original, aren't they.
For real, it's not like they were retconning bad things about the first movie. The intro sequence where he spends a lot of his life in prison and being ostracized in school is why he was the way he was. And what motivated him to break free of villainy. It's never what he really wanted, but it's what people expected of him. It probably helped that the inmates seemed to be loving and supportive. Giving him a mentor and "old team" implies he wanted to be evil. This movie implies he related to evil people, and had a meaningless change of heart. I wouldn't be surprised if he just goes back to being the way he was. Could be an interesting concept to explore relapse, but we all know it will be shallow and meaningless.
@@worminaround One of the pillars has fallen. Their one perfect solo film has gone down. Now, we just have to see how Shrek 5, Kung-Fu Panda 4 & How To Train Your Dragon LA come out. And whatever future Madagascar projects we hear from
@@bdletoast09 It's pretty much the only other series that you can point towards and call a major success. Heck, people loved 'All-Hail King Julian' & 'The Penguins Of Madagascar'. I guess Trolls could be there, but that's depending on how you look at the fanbase. Which either loves it or hates it
@@beetle8209 he is also thinking about moving out of the country and changing his name and fight in war which he thinks would be better than watching megamind 2 again
“I have an idea! Let’s make a sequel with a good plot that has nothing to do with the last one instead of making a new original movie!” -literally every film business
@@Mr_Tooty I think that a villain trying to better himself while other villains still think he’s on their team and cause chaos is a good plot, I just think its stupid to make a sequel with a plot that didn’t match the old one at all
@@scogiawell I mean there’s Megamind 1, Megamind 2 (the button of doom) and if the tv show comes before this then that would be Megamind 3, or the video game could be Megamind 3 too I’m not sure, then this
I know the guy, who knows the guy who wrote the story for megamind, and i asked him to ask him what he thought of the megaminds sequels. Ill edit this when i get an update. Unfortunately i only see the guy every 6 months or in case of emergencys but yeah. Ok first update will be seeing the source sometime in May, hoping he will have an answer. I had my appointment a while ago but almost forgot to update and apparently my neurologist can no longer keep in contact with him. the one he knew was brent simons and as someone already pointed out he was the writer of megamind vs the doom syndicate so I guess its sort of what he wanted. As long as the story wasnt forced him then I guess its canon and i hope the dude is happy. Also cool is my neurologist knows a guy who helps either designs/make satellites or makes it so they get into space. My neurologist happened to know a lot of cool people I wish he still had contact with.
Bruh, the only mentor Megamind ever had is Minion and those inmate prison when he still a child. Those "Old crew" and his "brain mentor" was NEVER EXIST or MENTIONED in the FIRST MOVIE. GODDAMIT PEACOCK
Hear me out. What if the brain thing is actually one of the prisoners from when megamind was a kid because they taught him some stuff and they’d be pretty old, and since megamind had so much advanced technology we could say it takes place in the future, so one of the prisoners could’ve asked to become a living brain in a jar or something to keep himself alive. But that’s just a theory, a MEGAMIND THEORY
Nah, at least the SS game had a story, although some of it was kinda dumb. This movie is just a lot worse, especially since everything from the original isnt here and Megamind is dumb
Somehow, the Suicide Squad game (arguably) tarnished a legacy less than this, and _that_ had the main character being killed in an anti-climactic fashion. Plus looked nicer.
I have so many questions. Is he from the planet that was Megamind’s planet that blew up? Did Megamind learn really anything from his “mentor” before he left Earth? How come there was absolutely NO mention of him whatsoever?! Makes ZERO sense.
It's official, they don’t want anything to do with pre-existing canon, and we don't want anything to do with this movie or its series. It all worked out.
I love how Dreamworks expected us to have big eyes and our mouths drop when we learned this brain was his mentor, but we just put our hands on our face.
I am just gonna bet that the 2nd film and the (hopefully not made) 3rd one are just a fever dream that titan is having after having his powers taken away in the 1st film.
megamind grew up without any friends because he was different he became a villain by using his intellect there was no villian school, and there was nowhere that this “old crew” wouldve come from next time lets not let peacock direct a dreamworksn film
Plot twist, this brain villain is the inmate from megamind 1 who taught megamind that guards are bad and crime is cool, and he followed his student's footsteps and became a villain too
So aside from MacroMiserable forming the Unfantastic Four, he was taught by airborne Mother Brain. Though i highly doubt people stuck around to see this, this unequal sequel’s duration was already torture enough.
