It literally released the same day as this came out, I guess people just weren't paying attention and immediately jump to conclusions. This is a tease for the show, I know the writers want to make a third movie but this scene isn't that. The brain guy literally was in a pre-release cover photo for Megamind Rules. This misconception reminds me of how people still think The Doom Syndicate originate either from this movie or tie in games when it would literally take a small portion of research to even find out that they were supposed to be for the original movie and were scrapped in development.

For real, it's not like they were retconning bad things about the first movie. The intro sequence where he spends a lot of his life in prison and being ostracized in school is why he was the way he was. And what motivated him to break free of villainy. It's never what he really wanted, but it's what people expected of him. It probably helped that the inmates seemed to be loving and supportive. Giving him a mentor and "old team" implies he wanted to be evil. This movie implies he related to evil people, and had a meaningless change of heart. I wouldn't be surprised if he just goes back to being the way he was. Could be an interesting concept to explore relapse, but we all know it will be shallow and meaningless.

I know the guy, who knows the guy who wrote the story for megamind, and i asked him to ask him what he thought of the megaminds sequels. Ill edit this when i get an update. Unfortunately i only see the guy every 6 months or in case of emergencys but yeah. Ok first update will be seeing the source sometime in May, hoping he will have an answer. I had my appointment a while ago but almost forgot to update and apparently my neurologist can no longer keep in contact with him. the one he knew was brent simons and as someone already pointed out he was the writer of megamind vs the doom syndicate so I guess its sort of what he wanted. As long as the story wasnt forced him then I guess its canon and i hope the dude is happy. Also cool is my neurologist knows a guy who helps either designs/make satellites or makes it so they get into space. My neurologist happened to know a lot of cool people I wish he still had contact with.

I hate myself for saying this, but: 1) Saying that “Megamind vs. The Doom Syndicate” (which is just a pilot to a TV series) is the worst Dreamworks film is like saying that “Planes” is the worst Pixar film. Both are made by cheaper studios: Planes were made by DisneyToon Studios (which are responsible to all direct-to-video Disney sequels) and Megamind 2 was made by Dreamworks Animation Television. 2) Since “Megamind vs. The Doom Syndicate” is less than a “Megamind 2” and more like a pilot to series “Megamind Rules!”, it’s saying that both: and pilot and the series are NOT-canonical. Dreamworks has made tons of mediocre non-canonical TV Series which are ruining all the canon of their movies before. I mean, you don’t need to take “Megamind vs. The Doom Syndicate” seriously because it’s a FUCKING pilot to mediocre non-canonical TV series which is ruining all the canon of the first “Megamind”.
