Megamind Rules! Episode 6 Discussion: Too Much Chum 

I don't know if they were ever going to split in into 2 seasons and changed their minds, or if the reporting articles just got confused, but for a while it was being reported as season 2 (despite being ordered as a single season). And some people don't stay on top of information and will keep saying the wrong thing well after we know differently.

@SugarThyme OK, and according to the writers of Megamind Alan Schoolcraft and Brent Simons, in an interview with CoveredGeekly, they say they have big plans for season 2 and the franchise

@@joshuasebsebe1047 Yes, they did say that. They're hoping to get as many seasons as they can.

@@joshuasebsebe1047 That was on March 1, when only eight episodes had dropped and most people were thinking the second half would be season 2. You can tell they were talking about the second half of season 1 because they tease Metro Man's appearance. However, it is possible they have more, and it hasn't been announced yet. But right now, we don't have any info about more publicly. And they probably can't talk about it yet if they do have more in the works.
