Thank you @Bergmann Lights - I am starting my display this year, and whilst my mega-tree won't be as "mega" as yours (looking at ~4m / 12ft) it gives me some great design ideas. Cheers!

Oh yeah!! I was starting back in September as it takes a while to setup. This year is different as I am retiring and have time to do this. Each day I have improved my props stability and have made my first mega tree. Definitely a learning curve but all of you that are posting information setups help immensely!!! Thank you!!!!!

@@bergmannlights5149 Thanks, not sure how it is going to turn out as this is the first time for it. I have had a snowflake tree in the show for 3 years now and finally figured out how to stabilize it as well as only 1 person putting it up. It is about 20 feet high. here is an amateur video I have done on RU-vid ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-rK_hdIVvtSI.html You can see the snowflake tree there.

How did you get the metal ring to the curved shape?
@bergmannlights5149
@bergmannlights5149 10 месяцев назад
You can use a conduit bender that you can get at a big box store or a roller like this the one Harbor Freight sells. Lowest cost option is to use a conduit bender. Check out the color motion tree instructors that Walter Monkhouse published. www.magicchristmas.org/uploads/3/4/6/9/34698654/building_a_colormotions_tree_small_copy_2.pdf

How many power supplies are you using to power inject? How many pixels/nodes are you powering per power supply (assume 350 meanwell)? What is the radius of your "skirt"?
@bergmannlights5149
@bergmannlights5149 2 года назад
My control box for my Megatree has 4 meanwell 350 power supplies. Two are fro the F16 and two are for power injection. It is a bit overkill for the tree but does the job. I use 10 ports for the tree. Each string has 200 pixels. I feed 200 pixels from a port then break the V+ at the top of the tree and power inject at the bottom of the next string. The tree has 18 strings using 9 ports and power injecting 9 times. The 10th port is for the star

Thanks for the video. Great. I have a question on ASAP. I see many videos showing extension and two step.If I am doing 16,5 foot could I not just move the winch up higher and have one step? Thanks
@bergmannlights5149
@bergmannlights5149 2 года назад
You could but it it gets too high it is hard to operate and your extension pole overlap gets pretty short which could result in the joint losing some strength.
@bergmannlights5149
@bergmannlights5149 2 года назад
You also need to make sure the push pole, the one that connects to the winch is captured appropriately. Don’t want it shifting to the point that it causes the load to drop

@@bergmannlights5149 Thanks. Do you see an issue with one step on 16.5 feet.

hi bergmann great video i have a question i have 1500 5 volt ws2811 pixels and 350 watt power surply and advatek controller i would like to know if my power surply is strong enough to run the pixels at 30 percent brightness and if not how could i fix this to add other power surply how to hook up 2 power surply thank you have a good day

Probably, you can check it out for sure using John Spikers voltage calculator. See the following link. I use 12 volt pixels. spikerlights.com/calcpower.aspx

Hello! where is the beginning and end of the garland, is there a connection diagram?
@bergmannlights5149
@bergmannlights5149 2 года назад
I do not have a diagram so I will describe it to you. There are 18 strings going up to the top of the tree. The first string connects to the controller output number 1. The top of the first string connects to the next one with the pixels going down vs up. This top connection point only send ground and data no V+. I did this by disconnecting the V+ at the top. At the bottom of the second string I input power. This is then repeated 9 times since there are 18 strings total. This is the way I did it. A lot of people do no power injection and just connect all 18 strings to different controller outputs. It makes it simpler. I do it this way to maximize the use of my controllers but it does make it a bit more complicated.

Is there a way to to connect the tree wirelessly rather than using an Ethernet cable. This is an amazing tree
@bergmannlights5149
@bergmannlights5149 Год назад
The short answer is yes, you can do Wi-Fi but there are a lot of variables that impact how well it will perform. If you want to do Wi-Fi route I would get a controller that can run in remote mode. In this configuration the controller has the data locally and only sync packets are sent to it over Wi-Fi. If you want to discuss your situation look me up on Facebook messenger, Bergmann Lights

How many pixels in one strip top to bottom of the tree and how many on one controller port chained?
@davidbergmann987
@davidbergmann987 2 года назад
200 pixels on each strip. There are 18 strips for a total of 3600 pixels. I use 9 ports on a falcon F16V3. I do power injection on every other strip. The star has 200 pixels, and is driven off of its own port
@dabbledabbledoo3329

@@davidbergmann987 TY, So a strip is 2x100 chained? 100 up and 100 down and it you an have controller in and power on one end and then power inject on the other end?

@@dabbledabbledoo3329 I use bullet pixels, not strip. They are more durable and easier to repair.

How much was the total cost for yours?
@bergmannlights5149
@bergmannlights5149 2 года назад
Hard to say. There are lots of parts that add up and I didn’t really add it up. There are 3800 lights at ~26 cents each plus controllers and the hardware for the pole and support structure.
