After seeing the WHAT IF episode, I can see that this has got to be the best ending ever. Neither Meggy or Desti dies, everybody lives happily ever after

Now this would’ve been great. While her death was depressing, it did make for a great story nonetheless. But to have her return would’ve been so amazing. Also this deserves more attention, the animation is STUNNING and it truly does seem feasible!

Dude, Luke said Desti won't be appearing anymore, she somewhat showed up in a few videos after "Meggy's Destiny". Memories of her and the picture from "Meggy moves in", and the hair on that one watermelon while mentioning her meeting Meggy and her funeral from "I can't believe it's not SMG4!" Im kinda getting my hopes up for this... and since they didn't answer or watch this video on reddit, they might be planning something to her. Luke is slowly changing his mind... But hey, that's just a THEORY!! A SMG4 THEORY!!! It's perfectly fine if you don't agree with me Wing Fury.

So, now I want to hear "That long story" that Desti promised Meggy.

Good thing I watched this video several months AFTER the movie. This alternate ending wasn't actually needed! You see Meggy moved on with her life to live it to the fullest, come to terms with Desti's passing to never look back and even made new friends. As if nothing happened, everybody got to move on eventually you know. Can't stay sad forever, you'd be missing so much more in life if you stay sad. There's a new fan favorite now that people are loving just like Desti, Melony! But still, this alternate ending is really made so wonderfully like as if its SMG4's editing. Its so sweet to see Meggy hugging Desti(?) twice. But Desti is old news ya know, a good memorable character though.

Yooo honestly this is really good! Although i still love the original ending, this is so fire! I love the animation and the effort that went into this!!

You know what I like the most of all that? The smooth animation. Most of the animation SMG4 makes, other than Meta Runner, is kinda Janky... But that's because his videos are of... A lower quality. And that lower quality somehow makes it funnier. But this makes it so much more serious, and more emotional. I really like it.

I've always hated the idea of Desti returning because it would add unecessary continuity but you know what? This woulda been epic. I feel like a good one would be Desti going elsewhere, to hide the fact she's alive. Like another town to keep competing, and Meggy going with her. Would be an epic exit for both of them.

Meggy:"how did you got back al-" Desti:"It's a long story" Me:*thinking about an insane plot arc, where she comes back to life*"I'll go make some sketch or notes"

Technically she's a octoling from Splatoon 2 and when they die they turn into a puddle of ink and we have seen many times through out this that is it cannon for the smg4 universe to have it too so she didnt turn to a puddle so what happen hmm?

I loved Desti alot and I really like this alternate ending but through all the people saying the prefer this, it would've meant that all the character development would be for nothing

This is what I thought at first when watching meggy destiny for the first time. But of course it gotta end to where Deati is gone and forgotten. I feel like she gonna make a combat in the future because that was all just too sudden to happen. I bet that if Deati comes back. Meggy will be back in splatfest and have a proper team vs team. That would be ideal and possibly most respectable way after all of that

Honestly,bro,this alt ending is amazing. It definitely obeys Inkling and Octoling rules a bit more than what happened in the Anime Arc,with Desti flat-out dying. But...Had Smg4 considered to bring Desti back at the end of Meggy's Destiny: 1.Desti's death would no longer have the meaning it did. And 2.it's possible that Desti would have suffered from Shadow The Hedgehog Syndrome(tho,considering it's Smg4 we're talking about,it's unlikely,but she'd feel a bit forced to be in the series) Again,not bashing on what you made(seriously,it's fantastic),but it's what I think could have happened.

When I said inklings turning to humans will not work, I think this will happen to splatoon 3 with the mammalians story mode Anyway desti death doesn’t make sense because inklings and octolings explodes once they die and their spirits goes to a respawn point to come back to life. I think smg4 did this on purpose because they don’t want to interfere with the splatoon community at all. Smg4 is channel about video games and meme culture, but not one specific game

What bothers me is that they made her appear in like 8-9 maybe more episodes, with not much screen time, she didn’t have that much character development of course she changed throughout the videos but not to a point where I considered her part of the crew or completely changed, take example of Meggy she has like 1 or 2 years of character development always appearing usually consistently becoming one of my favorite characters, but with Desti, she just got killed with no actual reason. her death was sad don’t get me wrong they made this so emotional but for me, Desti was a character that got rushed which is why sadly she is not one of my favorites and I ended up forgetting she was a character for about 1-2 years after. In my opinion she was a waste of a character that could’ve had so much potential, that’s all I have to say.

Well, you know what they say. You can’t spell Destiny without Desti.

I like this alt ending. It's more sentimental and close to home. It has so much emotion and I actually REALLY love the amount of skill put into the animation. Granted I still believe Desti should be dead because emotional impact and story (then again I'm a writer as much as an artist so maybe the average viewer wont pick up on that) But I'm very open to the idea (and creative concepts on how) that Desti escaped alive and now sorta joins the group as a secondary character. It'd be cool to not only see *how* exactly she escaped but to see her reasoning (which would likely be that she didn't want to leave the people that saved her life and the girl that she almost died with) And again, the amount of emotion here is actually phenomenal. Just reading the text without audio, while a few grammatic errors, still gets the feelings across. I can feel Meggy's relief, their bond, the warmth, and just through how they talk, they're personalities, Meggy's tomboyish but emotional nature and Desti's a jackass but she's a jackass that cares. As much as I'd like her to stay dead....I actually would love an ending like this equally. Yeah I'd probably be like "ugh this is such bad writing and goes against everything they lead up to" for a few days but eventually I'd realize "hey this isn't so bad..." 10/10 alt ending. I would've loved the movie just as much if this ending is there. And animation is stellar. Amazing job!!

i was getting ready to rewatch meggy’s destiny since i just got the desti hoodie and i came across this- absolutely amazing, i applaud you!

And after that Desti wrecked everyone in pin the tail on the boopkins

No question, this is what should’ve happened in the main timeline. Desti’s death was sad, but made no sense since the characters have regularly shaken off worse hits then a simple stab through the stomach. Including Desti. But, If she was faking it to motivate Meggy, or at the very least died and got better like they normally do, it would’ve made more sense within the universe on top of giving us Meggy’s character arc. More so…this animation is just really good.

For a fanmade science experiment, its possible to make a "Clone" of Desti. Using the ink that she had. E-gadd can do that. But that's my suggestion about a spin-off.

I know I'm 1 year late to this, but this is exactly how i'd rewrite the whole arc. Tbh this should have been the ending, Desti had so much potential but she was used mostly for the Anime arc. Wren in Western Spaghetti at least used his time perfectly by basically being the best SMG4 villain so far
