Actually, Charles and Diana married at St. Pauls' Cathedral because it's larger and has more seating. William and Catherine opted for Westminster Abbey which is steeped in such marvelous history. H&M got more than they deserved; particularly since they bumped Beatrice from her scheduled May wedding day at St. George's.

I actually believe that he only wanted and asked for it because that's what MM wanted. He has gone along with what she has wanted throughout their marriage, tapping him on the shoulder, pulling him back so she could go first as if she's the real Royal and important one people have come to see. I have been to the Abbey twice, once with a friend and once with my daughter. I remember standing on the Nave and looking up at that amazing ceiling( got dizzy and had to hold onto a chair) and thinking "my people built this! Maybe even family". I was very proud. She never gives up on this tactic - she has been campaigning for over 6 years to get a one-on-one first with Charles, Prince of Wales and now with King Charles, for various things she feels she has a brilliant approach for but which the late and current monarch have both seen through from the very beginning. They have always been fully aware of her true goal in pressing for these meetings and it is always to advance her own interests, so she never gets the meetings she so desperately wants. I wish the late Queen would have insisted on calling ALL the shots for Meghan and Harry's wedding, and prohibited the future king from walking her down the aisle. I agree with you about Westminster Abbey, Neil. On my first visit to England it was No.1 on my list of places to see. I was lucky to attend a church service and receive holy communion there. It made my day and, in fact, was the highlight of my trip. ♥️👋🖐️👋🖐️👋
