I lost my baby to SIDS...she was 6 month old...nothing can describe the feeling...not even my family

I can’t imagine what it’s like to have or go through a miscarriage with a loved one. But I can tell you not enough people talk about the loss of a young child at all. We lost my granddaughter when she was 16 months old to a tragic accident. No one wanted to talk about how we were feeling or what we were going through. But many people started asking and continue to ask, “when are you going to have another baby? Some didn’t mean for that question to sound like they were asking when are we replacing our little girl. But, the majority did mean to ask that very thing. People don’t quite understand that a life isn’t replaceable. Most people that have asked didn’t know my daughter had a tubal ligation. But they have now changed the question to, when are you getting your tubes fixed so you can have another baby. The human race is a vile species. They would rather be hurtful rather than trying to be compassionate and kind. I think that family in the story as well as the Duchess are brave and strong for speaking up about miscarriage and loss.

Sad news ! Hope they will be able to handle it gradually as the time passes--- I went thro 2 miscarriages. Very difficult. Understand the pain and grief --- same for all, regardless who we are.

I had 3 miss miscarriages the last one is 6 months I have no kids I don’t get a chance to hold one this pain will go to the grave with me! You fill me this is so painful you don’t have to step on my shoes to fill my pain I am sorry Dear to hear this sad news I fill you because I was there I had it!!

Before believing what she announced, the people of public need to consider if she said the truth or one part of her damage control right after the Remembrance Day merching in the US. We need to have evidence.

I am sorry they went through something like that like many others have experienced. It is really difficult to go through. I really felt she went through so much to the point where the stress must have been unbearable at some points. I'm very proud of Meghan and Harry.

It's devastating and NOTHING ever gets you over it, because that sense of loss is *ALWAYS* with you. I will always know I was a father three times, even though my wife passed away without a live birth. I will always love Turner, Owen & Bobby Don (they were to be named after my Grandfather, Great-Great-Great Grandfather and my Uncle Robert Donald but always called Bobby Don in the family)

This woman does not know what a miscarriage feels like. Her entire life is one huge, theatrical performance! Who the hell "hums a lullaby" during the pain of a miscarriage? The pain alone would slap all rational thought out of your head. You would scream, or cry out in pain. If you're holding a baby, once you start feeling the pain, you would quickly put your baby down so that he/she would be out of danger!

My husband and I suffered over ten years of infertility which included three failed attempts to adopt with our lates "failure" in September this year. We are beyond devastated. I wish people would acknowledge the infinite and invisible pain of infertility and failed adoption - it's a silent suffering. I would LOVE to be asked by someone, anyone, "are you ok?". Sometimes I have felt envious of women that had a miscarriage as they could share their pain with friends and family, get meals coooked, get cards, get acknowledged for their terrible loss - it feels like I am not allowed to grief because there is no one that I have lost as such. Nobody seems to care when you are infertile and certainly not when you fail the adoption process even though we feel that we are literally bleeding to death.

Until I went through one, I didn't realize you often actually go through labor. No one had mentioned that, exactly. It was one of the most intense experiences of being out of control, wanting to stop it. Packing the maternity clothes away a few weeks later was so sad. The feeling of finality.

All the hate that is in this comment section is grotesque and baffling. Honestly how can people tell her to be quiet and keep ruining her husbands life. She was not the one who "ruined" her husbands life, it was those people who keep spewing hate at her. It is those same people who are upset that he chose to protect his wife and child from the hate and bullying by leaving a situation where almost everything had to be made public, into a situation where they get to chose what is public and what is not. To Meghan and Prince Harry, I am very sorry for your loss and hopefully by speaking about what happened to you, those who have also had this happen to them will feel more comfortable about speaking out and saying they are not okay and need help.

As human we may have to face such mishaps. I am now 50 and have two children but in the very outset we had to face this problem three times and you need to know that we live in kashmir india. It had been very hard to overcome such a problem. What I know is that it was our love that helped us come out of this problem and now we have two children. Sorrowfully I want to say that the problem has haunted me in another way. My wife was lately advised to remove the uterus. Now my wife has undergone the same procedure. We are still in hospital. I want to say that the couple themselves need to be energetic. They need to have deep love and regard for each other.

Sorry for anyone family/couple that loser a child. We lost our first baby who was still born. We couldn’t talk about it or rather I could, but my husband spoke about our baby after years. Which I respect because we grieve differently.

The cynical side of me are making me think that they are actually using a miscarriage as a public relations act.

We don't know anyone's motives for speaking out, but clearly, Meghan and Harry sharing their loss publicly will likely help others who are going through similar circumstances. Let's leave judgement of motives aside and look at the potential good that is being done for people experiencing the pain of miscarriage. The message to talk about it is a helpful one.

What a lovely and eloquent couple speaking about their sad experience. I miscarried my first child at 11.5 weeks (about 2 months) which was sad enough, can’t imagine later on into the pregnancy 😢

Really don't care at all. This hate filled social climber could be making this up. I experienced 3 miscarriages, but had no wish to share, which was to me, a personal heartache. Does she want sympathy? Notoriety? Publicity? Likely the latter. Not many (thankfully) headlines about them recently. She plainly renounced her "fishbowl" life. Let it go, Megan.

Australia has a dedicated Are You Ok Day every year. Has done for some years. it’s quite sad to lose a child in any form.

Two years ago, I lost my 8 weeks old unborn child (I officially found out it was already 4 days too late). I should have gotten a check up at the 1st sight of odd signs. But I waited too long... due to denial and grief? My husband and I were in celebration for that 3rd pregnancy. 5 years apart from the last one. So it felt like it was my first one all over again. He let me have all the cravings I had, took care of me from all the pregnancy appointments. But when it came to the hard part of losing a child... I felt so unwanted and alone. 1st day of the symptom I was at work (kitchen cabinet sander) I felt a sharp pain on my stomach, might be due to lifting cabinets at work. I felt a bit light headed. At break time, I saw I had spotting. I did tell my husband, my parents and sisters. I googled about spotting too. The spotting was very light but did not stop (that should have been a sharp clue). I DIDN'T think much about it and kept working for a few more days. Our family was really at a loss financially in those days. One day absent is not taken lightly due to the bills for the next month. But on the 4th day of spotting... I felt a severe pain... and had a minute to gather my body back to normal... I ran to the washroom... the normal brown clot spotting became pinkish and a bit new... I asked to be let out early at work that day. I called my husband to bring me to the ER. We went straight to the nearest ER from my work. Husband said there were no free parking so I went in by myself in the ER. So sadly, I did find out I had a miscarriage by myself. I cried and cried and cried some more. My husband and I had arguements everyday while we waited for the scheduled D&C. He DIDN'T even bother to take a day off when I had my D&C. I asked for his physical support but was denied. I went to the hospital all by myself. Alone and in emotional rollercoaster... I went into the waiting room of the out patient operation room. I WAS THE ONLY PATIENT WITHOUT A COMPANION. My heart totally broke. I waited for my operation with a thought that this was the very last time I'd want to be alone. I can't pretend to be strong any longer. When I awoke at the post-op, my two boys were near me. But as suspected, husband was far at the corner, seating and recording me. So who would not cry in that situation? I lost our baby, I had an operation. And the instinct he had was to do a livestream of the post-op scene? Worst was when I was being wheeled out of the hospital towards the car. My nurse expected that I will be help on to the car. But no.... of course not... I had to shakingly and light headedly walk to the front passenger seat all by myself. While my whole family watched me do it. My two sons and my odd husband all think a D&C is just a walk in the park. Unbelievable life experience.... at least I had one day rest in bed. The very next day... go back to the norms... like nothing really happened. As the sonographer said to me, (hinted me of the positive miscarriage as I step out of the ultrasound bed): "focus on your kids. They are there to give you strength." So that's what I did. I kept living because I am a mom. A few months later, I got pregnant again. It did help me to go through the DABDA. After the one year mark of the miscarriage I have accepted the ordeal. However, It would have been better if I was not the only one going through it. I guess this is how it is living with my boys and husband. Emotionally always being singled out. Thankfully I have supportive parents and sisters which helped me see the brightest side of life. And my bible study of God's promises. It healed my core beliefs and knowing that life on earth is about giving agape love and not asking for anything in return. So what I learned is: not to rely on others. You need to give unconditionally. That's when God will give back unconditional agape love.

If this is a private matter for Megan, then why did she made this public? 4 months later?

All of us have lost loved ones. Loss is loss. Love is love. I don't think there has ever been a stigma in losing anyone especially a baby.

Stephanie Tong had written a memoir called ‘Chasing Light: Finding Hope Through the Loss of Miscarriage’ (Ch.13, 2016) where she recounts the tragedy of a miscarriage. The text bears an incredible resemblance to what MM wrote on NYT. Strange

Sucks to see when good people try for a child and have this tragedy happen but yet there’s losers who get pregnant and shouldn’t be parents and don’t deserve to be able to produce any humans into this world I pray they make it through this

I had Miscarriage back in 2019 with fiance now husband it was our first pregnancy we would had a little boy I was 14weeks pregnant at time no women shouldn't have to go though of losing children 💔

It is extremely sad news.

It's very a sad and personal story to share with the world. My condolences with Harry and Megan on there loss.

I find the story of how it all happened so soapy to the point that I don't find it believable. Why sing a lullaby to her child to keep him calm? How would he know what was going on? Why not call for help immediately and hand over her child to someone so that she could deal with the situation as she must have been bleeding? Why does she have to mention she was changing her child's nappy? How does it add to the story? If she wants privacy, why tell the whole world she had a miscarriage? This is very personal information. Something is not right.

I would like to express my condolences to all that have experienced a miscarriage. I am the proud parent to wonderful children. I did not realized that miscarriage was a common occurrence until the Duchess of Sussex informed us.

Writing about her loss is healing. Me and other women didn't have a chance to talk about our loses because we felt no one would listen. Until I lost a child and miscarriage a year later , I didn't know emotional pain. Pain that you can't touch or explain to anyone. Even doctors can't take it away. Feel so sorry that she has to be judged even in this difficult times.

Thousands of women a day have miscarriages. Every woman who has one dies a little inside (I lost 3 of my own, so I know the hell). Yet not everyone has their business spread all over the planet. It's no one's business but yours, the baby's father (boyfriend, husband, or otherwise), and your family and close friends. No one makes a big deal about anything unless it happens to a Royal or someone else famous. No one cares about the other women who lost their children and their heart...we're just supposed to deal with it and get over it. But these people deserve pity and tears over any other woman?? I think not. I'm sorry for their horrible loss but it is not this entire planets business. There is a pandemic that should be paid a lot more attention to. What a waste of airtime.
