In the US we are required to have the birth certificate, social security card, and shot records to enroll your children into public school.

In the US, you have to show ID, birth certificate, Social Security, fill out papers, there is a list of people who is allowed to pick child up instead of parent(emergency)! In US there is all verification to protect the school, and child!

You’re correct Paula. I had to provide all of the documentation, medical records that must be up to date or your child will NOT be allowed to attend public school. Birth cert, social security, court papers, etc.

I'm an American living in England. In the USA, my parents had to produce my birth certificate and baptismal as it was a Catholic school. Here in the UK, I had to produce their birth certificates, medical info., all schools being C of E unless parents chose otherwise. Either way, one couldn't just rock up, fill in a form and off you go. Unless, of course, one is an illegal alien, in which case, do as you please!

Paula is correct about applications , shot records and birth certificates my youngest daughter is 32 and way back then I had to do that and my daughter has to reverify EVERY YEAR her children even though she does everything online and we live in Texas!

Watching from South Africa 🇿🇦 I have to agree with Paula it's compulsory in our country government or private schools for a child to be registered in a school we need the child's birth certificate, medical records, proof of residence and parents identity document.

We did used to give the birth certificate to school's in England although it's been changed they will still get the same information just on computer but you definitely used to give a birth certificate to school

Mom of 5 .. 24,22,17,15 &4 on the east coast and I have always had and will have to next year for vaccination records, birth certificates and insurance information. No child in the united states can start school without at least the first 2 items listed.

My child went to school years ago and I had to provide birth certificate, birth certificate and booster updates when they were due through their school years. In South Africa we have to supply birth certificate and vaccine book for the child and ID documents of both parents.

In the U.S. children also have to social security cards and birth certificate to register for school. Vaccinations and possibly physicals may be required.
