That was so beautifully said, and I agree with you whole heartedly. As the daughter of a retired Marine and Vietnam Veteran myself - I was so lucky to have been raised by my hero. All of the principals, morals, integrity, and values that he strongly stood for - was what he instilled into me. I lost him very unexpectedly on Christmas morning due to a heart attack that he had in his sleep. The shock, grief and gutting heartbreak were nothing short of annihilating, and it took several years before I was able to come to terms with losing him... It will be 13 years this Christmas that he has been gone - but all of the values, character, principals and tenacity that he instilled in me, is what shaped me into the person I am today. I treasure them with all my heart and soul, as they are what keeps him very much alive in my heart.

John McCain never denied that he did not handle his first marriage correctly. He admitted often it was his fault. You needn't act like it's some surprise or information that has not been known as general knowledge for years. Are you also aware that many of the former POWs or war veterans ended up in divorce. You are wrong to assume you know all the why's of that. It's very complicated. I do not justify any of it, but he is certainly not the first American to be divorced or to treat a woman poorly. If his ex-wife has forgiven him (and she has moved on long ago!) there is certainly no reason to dig up mud during a man's funeral.

I would never have thought this of him back in the day . Again my mother died of this tumor . She's buried a little country churchyard in Illinois in an inexpensive casket . But her little funeral in that little country church playing "In the garden" on the piano was more holy . The Bible says the first shall be last and the last shall be first . Whoever thinks of himself as highly important and gets great accolades for it may find themselves at the end of the line when it comes to heaven. The humble person who cleans the chairs in the bathrooms and the cross in the church and the little country towns will likely be first in line to pass through those pearly gates . I think it's that he planned this for himself all this showiness does that not say something to someone or am I goofy which could be . Because I was married to Vietnam vet years ago who came home with PTSD before we knew what it was. I wrote him letters every day he was a footsoldier he was lost for a month in a village and he came home a mess our marriage did not last . He won't get a funeral like this Someday!! He was a hero to us because he was drafted into the military and did his part as was expected of him . Many many many young men and women did their duty for their country and will never get a parade like this .
