At 1:07 and 2:50, listen to how quiet and respectful the audience is while she sings. Really makes this song more special when the music gets really low and Luka just gets to solo, and the audience isn't shrieking at the top of their lungs. Awesome
I love how because she doesn't do the J-Pop dance moves as much, they can really focus on her expressions. Luka looks absolutely gorgeous here; so emotional!
Agreed! It is something I have been saying for a long time, that for sheer stage presence no-one can beat (or equal) Luka. In some ways, by not being limited to being just one person, Luka can be more human than any flesh-based performer (to coin a phrase), as can the other virtual performers, though Luka is still the best of all.
I think one of the reason that Lukas stage performance seems so human compared to the other Vocaloids. Is mostly due to the fact that when Crypton animates they animate based on their Vocaloids age. The amount of high quality animation given at these concerts is usually represented by what the Vocaloids age limit is I guess. Luka being can only around 20, and being represented as a mature husky female give her that more human and more natural type of a performance, while Miku being 16, Rin and Len being 14 are given the more childlike and cutesy animation seeing as if anyone of that age were actually performing they'd act up or fool around on stage. I think it's perfect that they give Luka a sort of professionalism since she hasn't really shown a lot. But that's just what I think.
Don't use "husky" as a description of Luka's voice tho. Husky is generally used in relation to males, not to females. It makes it sound like you're talking about a cross dresser. Crypton and Sega aren't using that definition anymore. It was a mistake to begin with. I believe they were trying to describe her "sultry" feminine maturity. There was nothing in this song to justify labeling her voice as husky. Sultry better defines her. One other thing, when Miku goes low, THAT can be considered "husky" as hell
Ah Luka. so elegant, so beautiful in her "Amour" dress. So calm and not jumping around like a teenager. She can be seen as more than a motion-blur, and her beauty admired. *Luka is Love.*
You can't include Toeto Luka, Rin-Chan Fan Luka, Nagisa Luka, Cheerful Luka, After School Luka...are they all 20 years old!? Isn't Miku considered older in some of her more "maturely developed" models?
I know Miku is the big star among the Vocaloids, and so I understand why Crypton is putting everything behind her to break in the West (the Americas and Europe). But, I think Luka is a better voice for Western tastes: lower, warmer, huskier. This being said: thank you to Just_Muzzic for providing the subtitles and posting here. I've enjoyed the song for its music and atmosphere: now, I know the story being told and it just makes it better. Thank you! Cheers, all!
She is not the "big star". Crypton just shows her off like that to get money. Every Vocaloid is a star, nobody is more special than another. I hope the others will just get more attention by Crypton.
This song is absolutely timeless.. showcasing the strengths of Luka's emoi vocals and tones.. yuyoyuppe gave her lots of love and use before leaving the Vocaloid scene and I'll never forget that

+Akari Kichona I'm a "Miku" fan, but for me, if one of the producers writes a great song for any voice, I'll like it. I don't see why some Miku fans (and fans of other vocaloids) bash others for what voice they like better. After all, everyone has their own taste when it comes to music. (Not saying that you bashed Miku fans, just stating that even though there are a lot of people that like Miku's voice more than others doesn't mean that they hate any other voice. I for one Love this song, it's one of my favorite vocaloid songs.)
This song honestly brings tears to my eyes. It's such a beautiful yet powerful piece. Luka's serenely somber voice suits "Leia" perfectly. I also think that the decision to use Luka's Amour module for this performance was excellent as the elegance is also reflected in her attire.
Sudhansu Senapati I took time to listen to four of V4 Flower's covers of Leia. They were all a little different from each other. I got a feel of her voice and, to me, it's a bit raspy and sounds boyish. So how is that better!?? Luka is a majical, beautiful being. I'm a musician myself and I love when a song is transmited so incredibly well with both sound and expression/movements like this one, I fell love all of the vocaloid music and everything recently but this is by far the best of all of the ones I've seen before, it just feels amazing.
I love Leia so much. It's a perfect reminder that Luka's strengths are the sentimental songs. I wish they had done the song thats the response to Leia - Reon. It's such an underrated song.

Wow... Very different from other vocaloids songs. Somehow very similar to early songs by Linkin Park with an alternance between heavy rock and soft sections and meaningful and engaging lyrics. Love it.
Luka's voice just flows and doesn't sound scratchy or massively distorted, it actually sounds realistic, and I love it. I love the way she seems so natural
There needs to be a Rock/Metal concert headlined by Luka with any other Vocaloids performing their respective metal and rock songs. But so far Luka rules in the rock world of Vocaloid, just look at Angel Bullet and Excalibur, how has Crypton not done this yet?

Very deep, yet beautiful song, I swear I could watch this performance a thousand times over and still enjoy it just as much as the first time. Her vocals are soft, yet they hit feelings hard... Luka is amazing... ;_;

She is by far the most beautiful and realistic sounding vocaloid and no vocaloid can compare if only other people could listen to her she's so emotional and her voice really reaches out to you.
I think this is still my favorite live vocaloid performance. Miku's performance of Hajimete no Oto at Magical Mirai 2015 almost gave this a run for it's money for how interactive and moving it was, but Luka's performance here just seems so real and I feel like it has the potential to justify vocaloid as a serious musical medium to outsiders.
This, Hajimete No Oto from Magical Mirai 2015, ODDS&ENDS from 2013, Sweet Devil from 2013, and Unhappy Refrain from 2013 are my all time favorite performances from these concerts. *I Really* hope they bring this song back, either this year, or next year.
i admire the effort it takes to make these holograms, but on the other hand their just holograms made by computers. And all of the emotions she expresses are fake, even if the singer is drunk i'd still prefer him over a hologram because he can actually get drunk
I agree, I went to a concert of my favorite band Circa Survive for the 2nd time and I'm pretty sure he was high or something, he was cussing a lot and really energetic. The crowd loved it but that's not my thing, and he was out of breath a lot, kinda ruined the experience. At least you won't get disappointed with a hologram, unless there is a technical malfunction or something.
It's been five years since I first heard and it's still the best "live" vocaloid performance I've ever seen. Luka really should have been promoted I'm the west. wow.

It's impressive how expressive she seems to be in this video. I always felt Vocaloids acted and sounded a bit flat in terms of mimicking human emotions. But I'll be damned if I don't get some REAL feelings out of this one. Facial expressions and her voice are perfect. Very impressed.
Original song is actually a heavier post-hardcore-ish metal. But yeah I do think the ones that stand out through these genres are generally more... I dunno, they have a more noticeable character? More charismatic? I dunno, but they are.. those I mentioned, compared to the ele-pop ones. Well though fact is there are a massive abundance of ele-pop or J-pop in the Vocaloid scene compared to these, maybe that's what makes them more noticeable and easier to like.
