i listened to the ghazal dard-e-minnat kashe dawa na hua by Rafi sahab, I consider him as the greatest and the most versatile singer of all times. All ghazal singers were fortunate enough that Rafi sahab didn't chose this line. Yes, Mehndi hasan is the greatest ghazal singer of the century for me also. Do sarmile nain and rafta rafta are my favourites. Renditions of Rafi sahab's ghazals are an epitome in itself. No singer can match that melody.

I first heard this masterpiece approximately 43 back... When I was studying in 10th or maybe 11th.. This is the gem that got me hooked up to gazals... That day and till today this is by far my favorite... apart from Mehndi sahib's Zindagi mai to sabhi pyar kiya krte hain.... Mai to mr kr bhi meri jaan tumhe chaahunga.. Due credit should also be there for the poets who weave such beautiful thoughts into words....

It is absolutely wrong to compare singers by saying who is greater..... They themselves respect each other. Lata jee told once about Mehedi Hasan saab that aapkie gale me Mata Saraswati ka baas (Ghar) hae. Abida Parween.....who doesn't know her...She used to consult her Jagjit Singh bhai on so many matter of ghazals gayeki. She was extremely fond and respectful towards Jagjit Singh.

Thousands of times i've listened this before & still can't describe the my feelings..!! Mehdi Hassan saheb creates magic..!! We Indians & Pakistanis have more in common in our cultures than we'll ever agree upon.. Not many artists are alive today who share ties with pre-partitioned India+Pakistan.. Mehdi Hassan saheb is no more today amongst us.. Gulzar saheb & few others are only left... We all must preserve our this rich musical-cultural heritage

Mehdi Hassan was not a great ghazal singer but he was and shall ever remain the Greatest one. No other singer could and can ever touch his aura. God creates such a person only once.
Mehdi Hassan is the best so far...I have heard most successful and most famous ghazal singers of all times but undoubtedly Mehdi sahab is by far the best, no parallel at all. Truly Sehanshah Of Ghazals

here I write and that is final- Mehdi Hassan is the greatest singer of all time. no one can sing like him even for 30 seconds. the singing after 16 minute time looks like God is saying something. just infinite respect for the master.

Thanks a big bunch for posting these Ghazals. I do not listen to Bollywood music because it doesn't have any soul and lacks originality. I acknowledge that there must be exceptions. But lately I was only listening to English Classical and country music and forgot to appreciate music from our own continent. It was very interesting when Menhdi Sahib says "Raag sahi se gaya toh janwar pe bhi asar hoga!" I totally agree with him. I love this music. Thanks once again.
I was lucky enough to get to see Hariharan Saab's ghazal show in NCPA, Mumbai once. I requested him this gem. Although the show was specifically for Ghalib Saab's work, Hariharan Saab's accepted my request with the following words "Ha Kyu nahi, Mehdi Hasan Saab bhi hamare guru hi hai". ❤️ ❤️
I don't know what I love more about this ghazal: the singing of Mehdi Hasan sa'ab or the poetry of my beloved Faraz. They are both fantastic. This ghazal proves that great poetry and music are timeless and without boundaries.
