This video is Part 2A, the second in a series of five presentations by Susan McKendree in Asheville, North Carolina. On June 30, 2024 Susan continued her exploration of the theory of evolution in Western civilization through both scientific and mystical approaches.
On Sunday, April 28, she began a series for five meetings addressing various topics around the theme of Meher Baba’s teachings about evolution. This second presentation looks at the process of evolution and compares what Baba has told us with what modern science has to say about the evolution of the plant and animal kingdoms, with lots of 3-D visual aids! Susan was inspired after watching an extraordinary 6-part documentary on Netflix entitled "Life on Our Planet", which led her to read "Creation and Its Causes" and to look at Baba’s other comments about evolution. What seemed like a good topic for one meeting then blossomed into five!
Here is how she describes the series of presentations:
We’ll examine how the ongoing schism between evolutionary science and religion came about and set the stage for what’s to come in the other three meetings. We’ll see how Charles Darwin’s concept of natural selection has become the dominant evolutionary theory despite the fact that his contemporary, Alfred Russel Wallace, proposed another theory stating that only “an Overruling Intelligence” could account for “the uniquely human attributes of abstract reasoning, mathematical ability, wit, love of music and musical aptitude, art appreciation and artistic talent and moral sense that man "displays".
In the next meeting (Parts 2A and 2B) we look closely at Meher Baba's Seven Kingdoms of evolution and see how His explanations describe what takes place in the Subtle World, while science describes what is visible to us in the Gross World. During the fourth meeting we look at humanity’s place in Baba’s explanations of Evolution and Involution. And for the last meeting, “In Praise of the Creator,” we build an altar of all the treasures of creation that represent for us the glory of Meher Baba’s “Wonderful World."
Finally, please consider watching the Netflix documentary, "Life on Our Planet", if you can. It’s really quite amazing.
