The golden years of the Ottoman Empire come to life in a television series. The life of Suleiman the Magnificent is preparing to be a guest in your homes in all its glory. Get ready to experience the era with ambition, love, wars, and all the struggle.
Prince Solomon, with his closest man, Ibrahim Pargam Ibrahim receives the bad news in a hunt. His father Yavuz Sultan Selim Khan passed away. Prince Suleyman sets out for Istanbul without waiting. Prince Süleyman quickly reaches the capital. He attends the culus ceremony without waiting. His life changed in one day. He started his life as Sultan Süleyman.
Meanwhile, a galley loaded with slaves coming over the Black Sea is heading towards Istanbul. The hottest of the slaves is not yet aware that he is on a journey that will change his destiny. He is rebelling helplessly to return.
Sultan Süleyman wants to show what kind of sultan he is by the commands he gave on the first day of his sultanate. But not everyone will like these decisions. Sultan Süleyman does not hesitate to challenge all of Europe with the messages he sends.
Alex, despite all his rebellion, is brought to the Topkapi palace. His attitude attracted the attention of Valide Sultan from the first moment. But it won't be long before Alex learns the rules of the palace. He chooses a great target. Alex, Sultan Suleyman's first night on the way to attract his attention. Sultan Suleiman's wife Mahidevran just arrived from the palace of Manisa. He is looking forward to seeing his wife.

Bu sırada, Karadeniz üzerinden içi köle yüklü bir kadırga, İstanbul’a doğru gelmektedir. Kölelerden en ateşli olanı ise, kaderini değiştirecek olan yolculuğa çıktığının henüz farkında değildir. Geri dönmek için çaresiz bir şekilde isyan etmektedir.
Sultan Süleyman, padişahlığının ilk gününde verdiği buyruklarla nasıl bir padişah olduğunu göstermek ister. Ama bu kararlar herkesin hoşuna gitmeyecektir. Sultan Süleyman ise gönderdiği mesajlarla, tüm Avrupa’ya meydan okumaktan çekinmez.
Alex, tüm isyankarlığına rağmen, Topkapı sarayına getirilir. Onun bu tavrı ilk andan itibaren Valide Sultan’ın dikkatini çeker. Ama Alex’in sarayın kurallarını öğrenmesi uzun sürmez. Kendisine büyük bir hedef seçer. Alex, Sultan Süleyman’ın karşısına çıktığı ilk gecede onun ilgisini çekmeyi başarır. Sultan Süleyman’ın eşi Mahidevran ise Manisa sarayından yeni gelmiş. The show shows him like that, but in real history it was Suleiman who always tried to push him forward. Mustafa was the one who really deserved the throne, the people liked him, the army Loved him, even Suleiman loved him when he was young, but when grew older Suleiman thought he would rebel and started to dought him..

Tho it was also said Mehmet was a smart and just prince but not that warrior type like his Brother Sehzade Mustafa, Personally I believe that any prince is better than Selim II but that's how history goes:(

You can see the difference with his ceremony to that of Mustafa too. Suleiman walked in front of Mustafa where as he has Mehmet walk beside him. He's never bawlked at Mehmet being by his side but does with his other children, always making sure they knew who held the power. Mehmet was the one who knew who the ruler was and had no desire to usurp him and so held no fear of it

Such a contrast in Suleiman from Mehmet and Mustafa's ceremonies. In Mustafa's, Suleiman's steely eyes say "I expect only the best from you." In Mehmet's, his eyes are softer, saying "I am so proud of everything you've done.". Two very different approaches, but fatherly thoughts all the same. Well done to the actors!

irl mehmet was supposed to be the emperor after suleyman. he was heavily favored by suleyman and he was sent to govern manisa (apparently that's where all heir-apperents govern). only if he hadn't gotten chickenpox, i think it would've changed not only his brothers' fates but the ottoman empire.

The music and the decor in this movie are outstanding. Suleyman’s acting as well. Wow, what a great actor! I’m not sure why did the scriptwriter want to portray the female characters as lovable but not likeable. Also, Mehmet could not have ever said “I’m not the heir” as that would have pretty much meant that he agreed with his own death sentence and I’m sure he had better survival skills than that. But unfairly making Hurrem look greedy by contrast I suppose was the intention of the writer (which I don’t understand)

He was still very young and naive. And yes, Hurrem never shared her problems (and tell them her enemies) to her young sons, only to Mihrimah since Mihrimah is the daughter, always with Hurrem so she could see by herself which people hurt her mother. Mustafa was way older & Mahidevran always complained about Hurrem since he was a kid. Of course compared to Mustafa, Mehmed knew nothing about his (or in this case, her mother's) supposed enemies. He even didn't know about the fratricide law and asked Mustafa about it

Ottoman empire ruled the world for 650 years but power of the empire changes by periods because 36 different padishah ruled and every single one impact differently If we talk about Mehmet the conqueror, Suleiman the magnificent, Selim the grim they were biggest rulers in their period and the empires you said that they were nothing to compare with these padishahs.

Bro, Ottoman ruled the world (well, it's European & Middle East) way way way earlier than other empires. Especially at the golden age of Ottoman during Suleiman the Magnificent's reign (1500ish), no one wanted to mess with them. Why do you think Christian European monarchs sent their daughters to marry/became concubines to the Sultans if not because they wish their lands were put under Ottoman's protection (vassals)?
