Ankit Trivedi is a Gujarati language poet, writer, columnist, and emcee from Gujarat, India. His significant works include Ghazal Purvak (collection of ghazal) and Geet Purvak (collection of geet). The Indian National Theater in Mumbai awarded him the 2008 Shayda Award for his contribution to Gujarati ghazal. He has received the Takhtasinh Parmar Prize literary award, Yuva Gaurav Puraskar award, and the Yuva Puraskar award. He edited Gazalvishwa, a Gujarati ghazal poetry journal, from 2006 to 2007.

It is April 2023. Here in United Kingdom. Sona, listening to this beautiful song!! In the 1960s, whilst a teenager and a student, in the coastal town of Tanga in Tanzania (East Africa); this was always played during our Khushialy Dandia & Raas Garba celebrations. Used to play the drums during the Dandia programmes: accompanying the brilliant Harmonium & Accordion player Amir Murad! What fun, what excitement. The whole Shia Ismaili Community of Tanga would be encircled in the grounds of our Jamatkhana (Mosque), mostly playing the Dandia, but also Raas Garba. And this was a very famous song, with vocals by a lady popularly known as Nurubhabi (Nurbanu Abdulsultan Ebrahim Hajee): and the Khanjri being played by Sadru Saba Saba!! We had such a formidable gang of musicians; can remember as a very young Kitoto, seeing Hadi Jiwa playing tge drums, in the 1950s, it would be the Marching Band side drum. Then when Hadi left town, Alykhan Murad played the drums (by that time, we had acquired a proper Drum Kit). My interest led me to play the drums in our Agakhan Boys Scout Marching Band. When Alykhan left, it was my turn to play the drums; and when I left, Gohar Jiwa took over. Salim Bhanji, then played the Accordion/Harmonium. Always, always playing this beautiful song.
