I love everything about matt as a drummer. His skills, patterns, power, overall stage presence, and showmanship. He just gives you the impression that he is in full blown drumming mode and as lovng every second of it. Such charisma and showmanship. He is truly one of a kind. When periphery took him on they found a GEM and I dont think theyll ever find a drummer that can math him in all those catagories. He just bring so much to the band. Sure anyone can play his patterns but its so much more then that. Matt, youre a legend and are on my top 5 list of best drummers of all time
@@thomasche @Thomas Chevrier @Thomas Chevrier Thomas Haake is a machine. Hes one of my favorites too. My top favorite of all time though, is a drummer named """Morgan Agren"""From Matts Morgan Band. He's also played drum on the Sol Niger album with Fredrik Thordendal. He's fucking amazing. Everyone he does on a drum kit is mind blowing and its sad not a lot of people know him. His creativity, drum patterns, timing, dynamics, originality, is the 1% of the 1%. I swear, Hes God Tier. He's been playing drums for over 40+ years and one of the only drummers that thoroughly blows my mind. He's unlocked the fucking matrix code. If you love drumming I hope you can appreciate everything I mentioned and will check these clips out. Ill link some. Him and Fredrik (Meshuggah) ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-AgwJEvasJlM.html&ab_channel=PhilZeGerman search him playing with his main band "Mats Morgan band", I suggest older clips, and other projects. Hes not human.
@@beto1580 Blake used to blast beat a lot on older BTBAM records, as well as the old Glass Casket stuff haha But these days, he's so good, so tasteful.
When the people from Meinl designed this Meinl shirt they took into consideration that the symbol on the front was low enough so Halpern could cut his V-neck properly. True story
it fucks me up watching matt play this song because I'm still in that awkward kinda-sorta learning theory phase as a musician so I'm sitting here like "what the fuck how do I count this". like they asked matt to fill in a minute of the song and he was like "yeah one sec lemme warm up" and nolly was like ctrl+r when he sat behind the kit goddamn I love periphery
Yea to me that's the hardest part of the song by a mile. Like I thought about learning it and know a couple of the beats but I just know that part alone might take me a month at least That's why I focus on his easier stuff like 22 faces, blood eagle, or flatline which sound hard to a layman but they're actually super easy (for periphery songs)
Uvuvwevwevwe Onyetenyevwe Ugwemuhwem Osas he probably has a press where he puts a shirt in it and then it makes a deep v neck for any shirt. Makes it as precise as possible. Or maybe he made it uneven so he had to keep cutting it further and further down until he got it right
Me too.. Even on the album you can hear the ghost notes and when he smacks on it, it stops sounding like a snare drum and starts sounding like a shotgun 🥁🤘
Is this a different version of Ragnarok? Right before the second part of the song there's a vocal line by Spencer I've never heard before. "There's nothing left inside"
Almighty RS In the one from the album he's screaming it quietly instead of freaky-frog voice haha. Yeah maybe it was an original idea that they cut? It was so loud haha I was like "what." Other than that it's the same version it sounded like
It's probably the original version but with drums taken out and mixed differently. Periphery did record, mix, master, and produce that album themselves.
He is the Chad Smith of his genre. I absolutely adore the skills Matt displays and he can do it all. He's absolutely in the top tier of drummer's still on earth and absolutely one of the best of all time IMO...
I like this Snare-Sounds with Crack, not these deep flat lowend snare drums everyone uses today. They sound so boring :) Greatest Snare-Sound? Rammstein - "Rosenrot" The Snare seems to sound great, but it doesnt fix to the rest of the kit mixwise...
YouthDrummer the last festival was kind of a special occasion because Meinl had an anniversary. so they gave it more attention and you can see it in the line up. 2015 got an all star line up and 2016 was okay. hence why the production level wasn't as high.
Sweet kit. But I will never understand players with that many cymbals and toms aren't using a rack. I would go insane if everything was wobbling like that on my kit.
The snare is just mic'd in an odd way I think. Waaay too much drum tone, not enough snare sound, combined with an un-periphery sounding EQ, I would guess.
