I agree with the unnamed “nice guy”. The true buffalo sound is squeaky clean. No overtones, natural ghost left hand, and crispy,clean slaps. That’s a rarity- maybe it’s the drum as you say.
The cracks on the first one sound nice but the overtones I've always hated. The Buffalo sounds more mellow but I do prefer the first one. You can't really hear them during a live performance in a band. Great video.
The overtones with fiberglass congas and or synthetic conga heads is negligible. The player hears it mainly from behind the drum,when the drums are played by themselves, or just with other congas. Once you add most types of electric band instruments in the mix,the audience cannot hear the overtone.This is similar to why so many drumset players,who use plastic drumheads almost 100% of the time now,use Moongel and related products to dampen drumhead ring.It's mainly a distraction in the drummers head/mind,lol.
If you play resort gigs next to ocean salt water, synthetic heads will save you some grief.Also,if you play in a band with a lead guitar player who uses distortion in his effects,the same.The overtones from fibreglass congas and or synthetic conga heads are negligible when playing with loud electric guitar with distortion.
i just got a pair of meinl professional series , but am not shure about the sizes that i need . i want to put on " the remo tucked skyndeep " any feed back will be apreciated. by the way i play all meinl percussion and is great company and they are making great products. i really recomend all of there instruments. thanks for the video .
hi nice video they sound awesome . it will be nice if you can show the inside of the conga from the button to see how it looks, no body dose that that will be. a good thing to do , specialy now the you can't go to guitar center to try instruments and see the built , not only because of the pandemic ,but even if guitar center in your area is open lot of the stores are not caring much now in days , or at list here in. florida I check couple of stores and they don't have much , you can orden anything you want yea , but you know how it is with some interments for example bells , some brands are not consisted with the sound , for example some hand bells or bongo bells , out of 30 bells I try in different stores only one sounded good to me,
hi, ı need some help about my meinl old marathon congas. they have traditional rims and ı dont know which heads ı need to use for them. they are 10' and 11' inches.
Cover your synthetic drum head with black electrical tape on the opposite side, place it back on your drum, you will get a better sound from it. Tune it until you hear that sweet sound from the tone.
