Every child from the 40s through the 80s knew his voices. Mr. Blanc was a huge part of my childhood routine of watching cartoons in the 70s and 80s. Thank you Mel for everything.
I was fortunate enough to meet him in college. He performed at Eastern Washington University and I ran the spotlight for his show. Afterward he asked all of the theater majors to meet with him and was extremely encouraging to us all. He was one of the nicest most humble person I have ever met.
Mel Blanc was definitely one of a kind! The greatest voice actor in the history of animation! I miss you, Mel, and my favorite cartoons will always be the Looney Tunes! Great job, Mr Blanc! Your memory will always live on in animation History! You were an incredible person, as well as an AMAZING voice actor! Love you, Mel Blanc! You will never be forgotten, especially by me, a BIG fan of yours, now and forever! God bless you always! Thank you for your wonderful legacy!
Please do a Daws Butler video. Daws was possibly one of the most versatile voice artists in the industry. His vocal range and acting skill matched, if not exceeded Blanc. He went on to train hundreds of artists in voice acting and is recognized as one of the most beloved voice artists in Hollywood ani’ation history.
Saturday Mornings wouldn't have complete without this wonderful Man's voices to all of the laney cartoon characters that made so many kids laff after the hard week of school & homework. Thank you Mr.Mel Blanc .
The greatest voice over artist that ever existed! It's insane to realize that he voiced nearly every character in the most iconic cartoons the world will ever know. The incomparable Looney Tunes. Unapproached by any other creations in history. I was shocked that he was the voice of Woody Woodpecker as well. WHY NOT!! Like the phenomenal Stan Lee of Comic Book fame, Mel Blanc stands alone in his genre. I can't think of any two men that were as far beyond their peers at anything as these twin geniuses. One created characters on the printed page. The other gave animated characters their life through his unimaginable vocal gifts. Watch any Looney Tunes cartoon. Can you imagine any other voice with these characters? Mel Blanc was not only the "Man of a Thousand Voices." He was the man of 1,000 perfectly matched voices to every character!! THE WORLD WILL NEVER SEE HIS LIKE AGAIN.
16:20 *_"Who ever heard of giving screen credits for a VOICE?!"_* It just astounds me how much today's voice actors owe so much to Mel Blanc for enabling that they are even given credit for their work in a world where to this day, Animation isn't treated as seriously as traditional movies are.
@@KenFullman He even did vocal effects. Today, the voice actor with about as much credits as Mel Blanc is most likely Frank Welker, who voiced G1 Megatron, Scooby-Doo and "screeching monkey" sounds (just to name a few.)
I heard that he insisted on doing the female voices as well. The only other voice actor, a woman (she played the housewife in a few Looney Toons cartoons), never got screen credit.
Mel Blanc is a legend. Over many years as a television watcher I was greatly entertained by his work - and am sure hundreds of millions of people globally enjoy his work even today.
There are many other notable voice actors - Daws Butler, Stan Freberg, and June Foray come to mind - but Mel Blanc set the standard for all that have followed. The man was simply a genius; there's no other way to describe him.
Mel was originally supposed to voice Yosemite Sam in Roger Rabbit. But by that point, the voice was way too hard for him. So they got, one of the actors who would later take over Mel’s characters for years in the 90s up to the 2010s, Joe Alaskey! Joe did Sam and unsurprisingly from Joe, due to him being an incredible actor, was spot on. He was so spot on, Joe fooled Mel. When Mel saw the film, he thought they kept his original recording and said to himself “Oh my Lord, they did a great job with what I’ve done”
I felt it was a different voice when I saw the film and checking the credits, I was right. I always wondered why Mel didn't do that voice, since he did others and was still alive.
To all the animators that have created the many characters that Mel lovingly voiced, I say thanks from the bottom of my heart for the joy Mel and all these talented people brought to the masses. What a talented group of humorous people which enriched our lives.
Love love love Mel! For 70+ years. A fun actor, as well as a great voice actor. Catch some of his routines with Jack Benny, and others. He was also the 'voice' of Jack's car. When he passed away, there was a picture of all the WB characters he had voiced, standing with their heads down, before an empty microphone, and the caption read 'Speechless'. Such a moving tribute. June Foray did the WB female voices. Witch Hazel was a favorite. June was also Rocky Squirrel and Natasha for Jay Ward, among other voices. In an interview, Mel was asked what he thought of people saying that June Foray was the female Mel Blanc. He replied that he thought of himself as the male June Foray. RIP, Mel, and June, and thanx so very much, for the magic, music, and memories.
@@jeanpreston8009The only cartoon character Mel DIDN'T voice was Elmer Fudd, who was voiced by Arthur Q. Bryan. In the short A Pest In The House, Bryan voiced both Fudd and a hotel guest trying to get a good night's sleep, which was constantly disrupted by a hotel bellboy, Daffy Duck.
After shooting the car commercial, Blanc checked himself into the hospital, a nurse called his son Noel and suggested sending his dad home with an inhaler or keeping him at the hospital overnight. Mel decided instead to stay overnight, which was his undoing. Staff forgot to lift up bed rails in his room, Mel fell out of bed, his femur broke and a blood clot traveled to his brain. It’s a nasty death, and this is never mentioned on his Wikipedia page.
Similar to my Dad's last days. Tried to use the bathroom unaided one night, fell, and broke his hip. That was more than his body could handle and he passed within 48 hours.
When I was in college (spring of 1980 maybe?) he came and spoke for a couple of hours (in his own voice and many others) at an indoor basketball court behind my dorm. It was standing room only and we were all mesmerized. Less than a decade before his passing, there had to have been more profitable uses of his time than talking to a bunch of college kids at a rural college, but there he was. What a standup guy!
A few years before Mel passed away I wrote him a fan letter and I included a drawing of a couple of comic characters that I created.and I left the word balloons blank above them. I asked Mel to fill in the word balloons with whatever he thought my two characters were saying to each other. . Not only did he send me an autographed photo , he also sent me back my drawing and he DID fill in the word balloons . So, in a sense, I got Mel Blanc to speak for my characters ...Mel Blanc was a class act all the way. He didn't create any of the famous Warner Bros. cartoon characters , but he gave MANY of them their personalities. We miss you, Mel...Rest in peace !
Like sooooo many others we grew up and loved all the character voices that Mel Blanc created. He was the top and the GOAT of all Voice actors. RIP Mel.
I've heard various accounts of how many distinct voices Mel Blanc actually had. The range goes from 420 (still very impressive and more than anyone else), all the way to 1021! I believe either way he holds the World Record by a Mile!
I was born in 1958, I was lucky to grow up with Mel, genius, he didn't just do the voices, he created the characters, he had great vision through his voices, this video is fantastic
I hated what teachers were allowed to do and say to children, years ago, and they had no consequences. I still have issues with what my second grade teacher told me, fifty years ago. Mel had such great talent
You (I) can’t thank Mel enough & his Family for being part of my childhood even into adulthood. His talent & presorvierance that finally got him where he belonged in TV/radio all along. Shalom Mel. RIP Sir
When Mel died he was honored in a cartoon that showed his grave and headstone with his name on it and several of his characters around his grave headdown and a tear 😢 on their cheek!
I just discovered your channel by watching the Dizography that was done on the phenomenal Mel Blanc. I ABSOLUTELY loved it!!! As such, I gave it a GREAT, BIG, HUMONGOUS “thumbs up.“ I loved it so much, in fact, that I subscribed to the channel and also chose to get all of the notifications for it. I look forward to seeing many more of the Dizographies that this channel has to offer. Thank you for making this wonderful channel! Please keep up the incredible work!

He was an absolute genius. No one before or since has accomplished such vocal dexterity and humor. He made my childhood a happier cartoon with Merry Melodies!!! RIP dear Mel Blanc and thank you for all the joy you gave us all.
Imagine working with Mel Blanc and both working for Jack Benny as your boss! Going to work each morning would be a treat. All that fun and a paycheck!!
I think he inspired many other voice actors to do multiple voice actings for many different cartoon characters in variety of different voices. Mel blanc is my hero!
growing up in.portland my mother had the pleasure of meeting him and said he was the most down to earth very humble and loved his fans and work.. a great respectful man she told me
The amazing thing is that I could understand him whatever voice he was using, whereas I often struggle to understand 21st century Hollywood actors usng their normal voices.
One thing I don't not sure if you mentioned in this video but Mel Blanc brought so much joy and so much happiness to people and you can access that anytime you listen to any of his work
