32 years ago today Mel Died at the Tender age of 23 years old. Think about it 23 years old, and she still Lived long enough to leave her mark on the World Forever. S.I.P Queen 🙏🏾! BIG UP KIM EVERYTIME 👊🏾
I still remember the news about Mel's cancer like it was yesterday. It was truly shocking and gut wrenching. What we felt back then was particularly awful as well, because back then cancer treatments weren't as advanced as nowadays. So it felt like she'd been given a death sentence. I was gutted, as were my friends. 23 is shocking.
And we’re still searching for and listening to her/their music today! This is one of my favourite tracks on their album! (Which I still have on cassette tape 🥴) X
Just watched the SAW documentary on Ch5. So moving to witness Pete Waterman in tears when describing the recording of this song. After all these years and the man has lost a child himself and he is still affected by Mel's death. Kim was as stoic as ever. I loved Mel and Kim, their talent, their outfits and the choreography ❤️
Timeless music which changed the face of pop. So many great memories of my youth are triggered by songs like this. God bless Mel & Kim and stock aitken & waterman.
For so many years i though the best songs of mel&kim were respectable and showing out, but this one is even better. They sing the title in a very touching way.
Looking at this in 2019. I still love this song so much. I'm tearing up because I'm realizing Mel was probably too ill to make a video for this. RIP Melanie!
I am a teenager of the 80s, this video reminds me so many memories when I was on vacation at the house of my grandparents in Liège, Belgium. I was happy to discover a new video of Mel & Kim and at the same time we felt that something was coming to an end … ps: the blonde dancer in the video is called Jane Sturdy, despite the years that have passed, she remained a beautiful woman. RIP Mel, keep on rocking Kim. Cheers. Dony
Even after all those years the beat kicks in straight from the beginning, and be honest nobody beats Mel & Kim dancing moves.. :-) For me the all time best Mel Kim song!!
Im American, I remember when this came out, I thought; what a great song but what a dumb video. I was probably in Eighth grade. The funny thing is 25 + years on several things have changed. I realize the one sister was too ill to make vid (or had passed on :/ ) and the other one was prob too broken to even think about being in a vid. 2ndly having lived and had my heart broken, whoever directed the vid came up w an amazing story to go w the song. Being dumped is like being at a party w someone you love and having them leave you and they continue to party but you’re now on your own. Amazing actualization of the song and the tribute pic of them at the end was great touch. My hats off to whoever put this together. It took us 20 + years of being delayed but we finally got it! 👍🏾 Great song Great singers Great Video
Thank you Kim for this Anthem. You need to go through something so bad in life to appreciate the meaning of the words . We all have our own interpretations. Alls well now for me , I look back , But now to the future ❤️thank you 😘
It’s 2021 and I was just thinking about Mel and Kim esp Mel and that it’s 31 years since she passed. Incredibly sad to this day. This is their best song by far ❤️
Back to the 1980s and back to my 20s... very happy days. Loved Mel and Kim. Two English cockney girls who became huge stars, yet remained very down to earth and likeable. Mel's death was a stunning tragedy - but she left some lovely memories behind - and I speak as just a fan of the duo. I'm sure her family and friends feel blessed that she was in their lives.
Love this song, Mel and Kim were just getting starting out, they would got all those Kylie songs had they not had such cruel luck. The world was at their feet, cherish every day, life moves fast when you get older.
I normally hated Stock, Aitken and Waterman's commercial, mass-marketed pop sound. Even as a kid at primary school I thought most of their stuff (e.g. Big Fun, Rick Astley, Jason & Kylie etc.) to be a load of crap. I'll admit though that they did produce a number of tunes that were undeniably catchy and certainly deserved to be hits. This is one of them. Still sounds just as good today as it did when I was 10 years old!
Fabulous video, Stock Aitkin Waterman Hall Mark sound, the fashion sense was spot on, I'm 66 years old now and I still wear jeans and T-shirts. Mel and Kim are just so good, we love you.
I felt something was strange but couldn't say what with that video & the fact we didn't see mel & kim ; today when I watch it again, I thought "maybe mel was dead yet" but no, not exactly, she was sick yet ; terrible
Great song. Would have been great to lead their 2nd album. Kim was good, but would have been amazing with her little Sis. RIP MEL. you are missed beautiful girl ❤️
Sad how this is only 1988 and not yet two years since they broke through yet Mel was dying FFS. That's the reason they don't actually appear in this video cos she didn't want anyone to know. Poor girl. Really sad story. RIP Mel xx
I don't think It's that they didn't want anyone to know, In an interview with the late sir Terry Wogan around this time Mel said she was using walking sticks. She was unable to dance. You could see that like my own mother, who died of cancer too, that her face was blown up from being prescribed steroid based medication as part of her treatment. You can find the interview on Wogan here on you tube
@@Fcutdlady I remember watching that wogan show you are talking about Mel looked swollen . I thought I was only one who watched it . I was only 9 or 10 then
It was strange at the time, we didnt know why they weren't in the video. But let's look past the heartbreak and appreciate the great song and the fact we still listen to it so many years later xxx
I was reading about the girls the other day, and think it said that sadly Mel wasn't well enough to make a video for the song. Love this song, but always feel some sadness when I hear it. x
I remember WJLB in Detroit used to play a few of their songs 🎵 I cried when I found our about Mel passing..gone way to soon I think thus group would've went on to have even more success
