@@adappajahanu2109 Mel saying keep both Fields and draft Williams then play whoever is better per game is a disaster. That’s how NE was last season when they bench Mac then started him again then bench him again. Mel made a career playing madden lol
Everyone’s saying Vikings will be trading up with the chargers but chargers just lost Keenan Allen, I think it would be hard for them to give up the chance at Malik Nabers or Rome Odunze
True but this is a supposedly really deep WR class and I can see Harbaugh passing on a WR to get more picks. They could still get a good one at 11 or 23
Amari Cooper was traded for a 5th two years ago, how's that going? Baker Mayfield was unemployed 13 months ago, just went to the pro bowl. Not sure the trade capital matters as a metric for future success. Bears as a franchise max out at .500. Steelers as a basement are .500
Yeah. Poles severely overestimated what he thought the interest and trade compensation for Fields would be. Howell, Ridder, and Mac Jones all received more compensation. Minnesota would rather roll with Sam Darnold than trade for Fields. Vegas gave Minshew $25M! It's weird how there's a gigantic rift between media's evaluation of Fields and NFL player personnel evaluations, because it sure showed that not many in the league believe he can develop when there was zero interest in trading for him. If someone believed he could be a starter, they would have gladly paid whatever Chicago's asking price was.
i suppose... honestly i wouldve been ok with washington taking him for that price given the split opinions on maye and daniels, fields could be better than both with another shot... but the contract would be not so attractive
Too bad they only Mention the Top 10 OVER N OVER N OVER. Sum these Positions R 15-20 NFL Players DEEP!!!! Quality Depth/Starters Never Mentioned.. VERY Frustrating NFL Draft show..
Marvin Harrison Jr. is #1WR for a simple reason: He can't be stopped at the line. He uses Edge Rusher moves to blast through any poor CB that tries to face him up. He winds up open EVERY TIME. You can't say that about Nabors or Odunze, both of whom can get chucked a the line. Marv also has 4.5 speed, and runs great routes. Basically he's unstoppable. Any QB that can put the ball in stride to him will get chunks of yards all day long.
@@NL3615-8? His best two games were against awful defenses who couldn’t tackle? I don’t wanna hear his teammates let him down when he took 44 sacks in 12 games and Tyson Bagent took 5 sacks in 5 games
I knew a lot of these talking heads were delusional about Fields, but when Kiper said that the AFC North is SCARED of him and that he's "won" in the league, and has insane talent I literally lost it 😂
I was embarrassed for Kiper when he said that. Then he follows up that gem by suggesting The Bears throw Williams into a "best man wins" pressure cooker by keeping Fields and letting the two battle it out for the #1 job. Get team building Mel. Funny how Yates quickly changed the subject before Mel dug himself in deeper. Awful takes on Fields by Kiper.
Aside from Trevor Lawrence, every other 2021 1st round QB has already been traded, once Zach Wilson gets banished somewhere. EIGHT QBs taken in first 3 rounds and ONE is a decent starter. This is why we should take everything Kiper (and every draft analyst) says about QBs as entertainment. You can do all the deep analysis and watch all the "tape" you want. It won't matter. No one knows how QBs will turn out.
Where is Todd atleast he watched players this time of year N had mention of sleepers n guys not jus in Top 10 ranks. Drafts 350+ players deep. Let’s find sum Gems 💎
People need to stop mocking Odunze to the Chicago Bears at #9. I don't want it, and with that spot in this draft, trading down makes the absolute most sense for my Bears. Trade down with the Raiders, get a 2nd round pick in exchange and then grab Laiatu Latu DE with the lower pick.
Mel Mel Mel, it's the 5th year option they didn't want to pick up this May. Poles isn't going to overpay and ruin the Bears again after he turned around the cap space available.
Great show guys! cant wait for the next one; would love to see your thoughts on the Sub-Top 6 at QB. The Rattlesnake, JM3, Sam "Head & Shoulders" Hartmann, and Mr. Pratt from Tulane.
This years Top7, will cost you next years #1, as well.. this is a hot draft 😂 Big stories: • who goes #2 ? • the Steelers tricked the NFL 😂 • is Thomas top12? • wtf are the NYGs doing? • Did everybody get better, Dallas? • could 7 WRs, & 5 QBs go 1st Round? • Cousins got $100Ms guaranteed 🤯 • the Steelers tricked the NFL 2x 😅 • Daniels #2, now who's #3 ? • NE can dump pick, & robs Ft Knox💰? • Steelers grabbed 3 Captains😮 • KC dont need no Wrs 😭 • some teams got gutted: nyg lac • some teams got 💰s: phi chi pit gb kc • some wtf: Atl Nyg Buf Dal Car Draft Day is Our Holiday ✌🏾 follow🏈
Here's how great the Bears franchise is: they developed a first round QB into a sixth round "give away". Then, after three years of letting Justin twist in the wind, without protection or elite weapons, they stocked up on great receivers THEN traded him away. Hahaha! Wait till Justin lights it up next season and goes to the playoffs. Caleb isn't mature enough to handle being a number one pick on an incompetent McCaskey franchise. It's going to be hilarious watching Caleb try to wiggle out of Chicago. Wouldn't be surprised if his father initiates a power play to avoid Chicago. Or, just accidentally saying something derogatory about the McCaskeys/Bears.
No Doubt Caleb & Jayden should go 1 & 2 . Drake Maye at 3 seems high and a guy that might be this years Will Levis and a player that could fall , and going to New England could be a recipe for a disaster considering everything that teams need . J.J. McCarthy going in the top ten seems like the ultimate reach . An abundance of smoke screens are going up both bad and good on both J.J. and Drake . Buyer Beware ! !
Fields needs to get better at everything Russ is great at, sitting behind him for a year could do wonders. Russ could also be terrible and I'm an idiot but will be fun either way!
Steelers got nothing to lose having both of them, if the stink the joint up oh well we move on and try again. At least they aren’t being complacent. Dumping little gloves is proof of that.
Fields probably needs to learn how to read a defense. Russ has never learned that skill. Russ is better at keeping positive, but Fields already knows how to do that. Fields last year was better than Russ was at any point over the last 2 years.
He’s definitely with a more stable franchise for now. The Steelers have the pieces and a run heavy system. Could be good for or he can stink it up. His attitude and willing to sit and learn grants him a second chance.
It's business, why would a GM give up a high draft pick for Fields when they know for a FACT the Bears want to trade him that doesn't make sense, Poles should have never said they were willing to trade Fields, he should have lied and said "we love Fields the City loves Fields and he's extremely talented" and left it at that, Poles showed his hand way to fast at the combine by answering to many questions truthfully
Great franchises like the Steelers make great moves and getting Fields for a 6th and Wilson for 1mill shows meanwhile not so great franchises like the Falcons bring in Cousins
It's not so much that Pittsburgh is a great franchise right now--they also drafted Pickett and took years to finally move on from Matt Canada. But at least they didn't keep banging their heads against the wall. It really shows how incompetent Denver and Chicago are for throwing away Russ and Fields for nothing--and in Russ' case, Denver is paying him $80M to play somehwere else. Between Russ, Fields, and Cousins, Cousins is definitely the best right now though, health pending.
@@silver33 That's kind of conceivable, though if true, they could've taken less draft comp before every other backup QB was signed/traded. At any rate, I'm sure Poles wants Bears fans to believe it.
I agree with all the above BESIDES whatever decision Atlanta made is easily the move we needed. A stable peice around young super weapons. I was hesitant at first as a falcons fan. I’m all in now
Yes he played behind a swiss cheese o line but 30 interceptions 30 fumbles bad ball security and the fact he did not read his progressions well enough. But I do agree with Mel would have been better to keep him this year he would have probably done pretty good this year and would have been great insurance behind Caleb and once again no difference in what we received from the steelers and what we would not get in draft capitol had we kept him.
Field Yates is a Clown,. Thinks it's horrible for the Bears to have a QB competition but it's good for the Steelers to have one,.lol~ You can't make this stuff up~
I would understand if the Patriots traded out of the 3rd pick if they are getting a bunch of picks , especially if you dont like the QB that falls to you.
So Chicago ruins fields by waiting until last year to buodm around him. Then gets rid of the whole staff and also doesnt keep fields. So if it was fields why not keep the staff? If it was the staff why not keep fields and try again this year? The fact people have faith in Chicago whej theyve never had a 4000 yard passer baffles me. They clearly dont develop qbs. God speed to williams. Jesus
So you think the Steelers are going to risk injury to the backup QB by making him a package player? They now have the 29th and 30th ranked passers in the NFL. What did they gain here? Not sure but getting rid of Pickett probably the best news.
They gained a better QB room without spending money or draft picks. They literally have nothing to lose giving this a go. At least they are making moves and not being complacent.
At around @04:00 Field says in regard to his support of the Bears trading Justin Fields & going all in on Caleb Williams that “franchises have ruined young QBs & they have to empower their young QB prospects.” So ostensibly he is saying that Chicago has to coddle & massage Caleb’s ego to set him up for success. Surely franchises have set up QB prospects for failure but that is more on the head coach, offensive system & situation they’re in, not the QB room. Chicago is a big market with a passionate fan base & intense media. Competition & adversity are good things. Some of the criticisms of Caleb are a sense of entitlement & him not being exactly mentally tough so this is worrisome to me. If he can’t handle having Justin Fields as competition how can you expect him to lead a team in the NFL in a tough city with a scrutinizing media. We do know that not all the Tier 1 QB prospects of Caleb, Maye & Daniels will become top NFL prospects & maybe one or more of the Tier 2 or other prospects such as Penix Jr, Nix, McCarthy & Rattler could very well exceed expectations & outplay some or all of the Tier 1 QBs. Anyway, can’t wait for this draft. It’s going to be fascinating to see it unfold, see who trades up or down & see how these prospects pan out in the next year or two. The draft can’t get here soon enough.
Prediction: Field has the 3 and 4 QBs in the wrong order. Pats will select another Michigan "leader" in McCarthy due to pressure from ownership and Maye will fall to the Vikings. Maye will sit behind Darnold and develop for most of the upcoming season before starting the last few games.
i mean kipers right and wrong imo... they shouldve gotten more for fields but they definitely did not need a qb controversy... same reason washington was right to trade howell if they knew they were taking a qb, stand by your decision and give the guy the ball without anyone looking over your shoulder
ANOTHER MINi MOCK SHOW… OMG!!! LETS TALK Players/Positions Draft Values. So SICK Of Top 10 All That’s Talked about. Draft People wana Hear about the Steals in the 4/5th Rds. 🤢🤢🤢🤷🏼♂️🤷🏼♂️🤷🏼♂️🤷🏼♂️ Top5/10’s #WEAK #VERYWEAK DRAFT Is 350+ DEEP.
I don’t think Jones will be the QB for the majority of the season bc of the injury clause in his contract. They want to move on from him after this year. They will draft a WR1 at 6, but not for DJ. He won’t be here after 2024 unless he can’t pass a physical next year which is why DJ won’t be the QB for the majority of the year.
@@apops6703 it might because Wilson may not be willing to mentor Fields as he wants to revive his career. There’s gonna be frictions between the two and it may affect the OLs and WRs as well.
Jets should trade down for a later first and a second round pick. Draft the best lineman available in the first round, and then best WR available in round 2. TE's rarely get utilized enough, especially in their first year, to justify a top 10 overall pick. Keeping in mind the lack of depth at the O-Line position too.
CW will be a bust, I just heard that he has the guts to ask for part ownership of the drafting team. That is crazy. Who does he think he is? He is NOT Elway, Marino, Montana. Williams had trouble winning in the Pac 12.
You have no way of knowing how good a pro Caleb will be. No one knew about Mahomes. His father is the one who is interested in a ownership share but I don't even think it's legal.
While I think JJ is closer to Alex Smith than Ponder (skill wise) I agree with the spirit of this comment. It's too early. Patriots shouldn't draft a QB, they should grab Marv. Chargers could then trade out for Maye and receive much more. That said the Patriots have never made the right choice in the first round, so they ARE likely to take a QB and spend the next two years failing to build around them.
Bears are n idiot organization that will blow it in every aspect,. Giving Fields away for as much as a Trubisky type player is about the STUPIDEST trade I've ever hear of~
I am amazed that Mel after spending his whole career on the draft still is horrible when it comes to anything involving qbs. Should’ve retired with Jimmy clausin.
Wat A BUMMER 1/2 the Show is Talk about Free Agents OVER N OVER. 350+ players to talk about2024 Draft. 5-6Rd DEEP This Year!!!! Let get to it!!! CANT get out the Top 10’s.. 🤢🤢🤢🤢🤢🤢
Justin Fields "has won" , ok Mel so what? Alot of QB's win in college. He hasn't won in the NFL. Sure he can turn it around but won't be a top tier QB.
the 2 most delusional groups of people currently on Earth 1. Justin Fields fans 2. People who say Biden just has a stutter and is not a vegetable 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Fields is a terrible QB. I really hope he gets a chance in Pittsburgh so people can stop with the idiotic narrative that the Bears "ruined him". Just like Trubisky he will show that he was just never a good QB and it's not the Bears fault.
