I'm a beginning knitter teaching myself and even though what you are making is waaaaay more advanced than what I'm working on (sampling my very first 1/1 cable while watching this!) I just LOVE your channel. I learn heaps but you are also a real tonic - it's so comforting to hear someone super experienced is having to rip back, think about her body shape, change underarms etc. It's the direct opposite of perfect jumpers on Instagram and I love it. It calms me down. If I keep at this I will eventually be an experienced knitter too! Thank you.

Yes, you absolutely will! Congratulations on your first experiments with cables, what a fun process to learn. You'll be building more knowledge on those 1/1 cables in no time!

I was glad to see your video up this morning. I always enjoy hearing about your thought processes for your projects. Now I want to knit the same Marie Wallin pattern with steeks and sleeves together. How clever!

Thank you for making your videos - I learn so much in each one! And I loved hearing about your wool classing experience. I've tried Purl Soho's Tussock and love it. I think it has as shiny of a core as Shibui's Silk Cloud. Catherine Lowe's silk mohair also has a really lovely, shiny silk core as well. I have the Byzantium colorway, which is a lot darker than the pictures on her website but is still shiny and gorgeous.

Awesome, thank you for this info! I’ve never heard of the Catherine Lowe mohair but just looked it up - that looks beautiful too. Adding it to my list of yarns to try!

Great episode. The wool classing sounded amazing. Thanks for sharing your experience! Good luck with the Oak. I can’t wait to hear all about how it goes. I sometimes think I’d like to knit one of Marie Wallins’ designs but when I hear people talk about it, I don’t know if I want to put that much effort in. Maybe someday.

They look far more complicated than they are! The shapes tend to be simple, so it’s really just following the chart and having fun with the colors. I can’t wait to start another one, my fingers are itching for more colorwork like this 😊

I just discovered your channel last week and may have gone back to watch all your videos. Your Marie Wallin projects have inspired me to convert the Chestnut Cardigan to a steeked project (just ordered the yarn for it). Thanks for the inspiration!

Yay! That’s a perfect choice for converting to a steeked project. I love that pattern too 🥰

You said a lot about the color before you started the recoleta. The blue makes your beautiful blue eyes pop. Please embrace this color because it is stunning.

Happy New Year and it's great to see your finished cardigans. They look really classy and the blues really suit you. I love that metal pin you gave too. I also have to agree with fellow commentors when they said knitting the 2 steeked sleeves in the round is genius too. That way you decrease/ increase at the same time so they match perfectly. I will definitely be using that method for the fair isle cardigan I have in mind for 2022. I really appreciate all the tips and tricks and pattern recommendations.

I just cut the steeks on the sleeves and as of right now it looks like it worked perfectly! Now on to the seaming… if this works out I’m doing all colorwork sleeves this way for sure.

If it's any consolation, Purl Soho in New York is still closed for retail. I think you made a lovely choice with the Shibui. Love your fleece "classing" adventure. What an interesting thing to have been able to do. The journey sounds unduly long, but you're a trooper.

Just discovered your podcast a couple days ago. Since then I've watched several episodes. Wonderful...great content, beautifully articulated, visually well done. I'm hooked! You have enlightened me and inspired me to give plant fibers a serious try and I'll definitely feel more confident about improvising modifications to knitting patterns. The logical progression of your projects is fascinating.

That wool class sounds amazing. I got to see a bit about the commercial side of the wool industry during Shetland Wool Week. My friend did find a mistake on a Marie Wallin pattern and contacted her…never heard back. So yes I think she does make mistakes-or at least her tech editors make mistakes but it should have been fixed when found or at least researched. Love the other cardigans and that blue makes your eyes stand out even more! Happy New Year!

Thank you so much for sharing your making of the Oak cardigan. You are a brilliant explainer! I am an experienced FI and Bohus knitter and I have learned and enjoyed myself a lot listening to you. I am just wondering if Oak could be also knit top down using Cocoknits method as described in her sweater workshop book to shape the shoulders and the top of the sleeves. Will think about that...... I love Marie Wallins' work but not her FI charts. Too small and only black and white...

Two at a time steeked sleeves - brilliant !! I am also planning on making Oak, however I am choosing different colours - so still swatching. I am going to follow your instructions and knit in the round. Looking forward to seeing your completed Oak. Love your podcasts. So informative.

I love the Recoleta by Joni Localetti and the yarn you use. Could you give me reference to your original broadcast, please. I am looking to make that sweater and looking for the pattern and yarn.

I talked about this one in episodes 008 and 009 in case you want to go back. The yarn is Cascade 220 and you should be able to find the pattern by googling "Joji Locatelli Recoleta" - hope that helps!
