They can wear what they want, they won't be young for ever. Quote from Jesy, " No one goes crazy when Beyoncé comes out on stage wearing a leotard so what's the difference with us"
It is definitely not the same, I personally hate the twerking, and all those sexual poses that new girl bands have embrace as an statement to go back to those days when a woman in heels & a bikini was selling car wax. When I watch Fifth harmony & Little Mix videos it is exactly the same cheap attitude.
@@backstreetgirltina and not all little mix outfits are!! Sooo what’s the point of your comment? They were sometimes provocative, like Little mix and everybody else in this game
Little mix encourages all girls to wear what they want. Little mix encourage young girls to express there selves and wear what they want. If you don’t like what they’re doing well just don’t bother with them. They are four lovely and independent girls I’m sure all those mixers know that little mix makes them feel much better in there selves they have so much meaningful songs that make young girls not care about what other people say. I love little mix I’m a huge mixer and I will always love them! Little Mix I love u
that's also what spice girls did, it was ALL about that. I remember a promo for their movie where Vic was looking at herself in the mirror ans asked the girls "is this dress too short?" and all the girls said no so Vic pulled it up even more to show more skin. so I just think that she had a change of perspective now that she became a mom
@@carmenmeri4703 I grew up on the Spice Girls and I vividly recall them usually wearing mini skirts so short that they had to wear matching underwear and high heel/platform shoes underneath... it's all in the eye of the beholder. Twerking or not makes absolutely no difference for self-objectification in cultural context.
shreya sso Whats your point? The Spice Girls aren’t exactly Nuns, Geri was going to be called “Sexy Spice” until they decided to change it to “Ginger”. But I love them.
I think It's annoying how she says that it's a "shame" that the girls get to wear what they want because her daughter likes them. LM are grown girls in their late 20s, they never said their target audience was children. She should be happy that they are supporting women to be themselves and wear what they want.
their target audience in the beginning was very young though, because they were teens then themselves. a lot of their merch was marketed at young kids/tweens (the dolls, temporary hair dyes, make up etc) - much like the spice girls. fair enough they're allowed to grow, but i can see why she wouldn't feel comfortable with her daughter watching some of their videos now as her daughter is only 9.
It's too bad really, I find it quite disappointing that parenthood has turned her into someone who feels like the whole world is a discussion around her own parenting choices. It's not. You don't want your kids to watch sexy pop acts, don't let them. Don't put that on everyone else. Nobody asked.
she herself didn't really dress sexy in the spice girls though - as she said, she was mostly in tracksuits. i would say geri, victoria and mel b dressed the most 'sexy' and then emma dressed more 'cutesy', except towards the end.
Oh my gosh she wasn't asked about fifth harmony she was asked about little mix of she was asked about fifth harmony she would have talked about them gosh and if you would have watched it the whole way through she said there were times when they were provocative so watch the whole vid or don't say anything
The difference between Spice Girls and Little Mix is That Spice were provocative since Day 1. Little Mix started off cute and innocent then came across as provocative later on.
Medy Lema Productions little mix started off pg-13 which I didn’t like. I only started liking them like a year ago little mix are starting to become more comfortable now
Little Mix grew up before our eyes. They were in their late teens during their cute an innocent years. The Spice Girls were grown ass women when they became famous. Of course they were provocative since day one. Little Mix are now grown ass women. It's their turn to be sexy and provocative.
I can see where she’s coming from. She doesn’t want her child to see Little mix in these provocative outfits. But you have to say that Little mix doesn’t want to portray that. They wear them for confidence and for the sake of the music video and performance. They said that themselves. They feel good and confident in what they wear. If you focus on that one thing, it’s not really a big problem. Judging people by clothing is not acceptable. What they are known for is their music. Not their clothing.
I don't really get her point, to be honest - and I grew up on the Spice Girls and am far too old to be fanatic about Little Mix. The Spice Girls and their songs got _quite_ sexual (especially on songs that weren't singles) and my parents didn't mind me listening/watching because they realized that unless they _made_ it into something "gross", kids just don't see that stuff. Girl bands in lingerie is not how little girls get a skewed view on sex - it's the conversations around sex, and poor education on self-worth and peer pressure that cause that.
But has she let her daughter watch certain Spice Girls videos then? Because they were often wearing hardly any clothes. Look at what Geri and Victoria wore at the Brits, barely anything.
She's being such a hypocrite at the beginning because while she was in the Spice Girls she had many photoshoots in undies and provocative outfits at Least she admitted it in the end.
OMG when did sporty wore undies haha, check your research 🙄 when they were in spice girls children love them because they are icons. Girl bands now adyas looks the same as the others specially the way they dress
she did mean it coz she forgot that spice girls did it is no excuse when little mix was asked about it they said its because its dam hot on stage thats why and if you look at little mix early concerts they are wear jeans and tops ..so what they've learnt is its dam hot wearing loads on stage and i've yet to hear beyonce get called out on her outfits on stage i just think little mix are an easy target and nobody would dare call out queen B .....
If u were support little mix, why would u say the bad things about them? Girl, u was on spice girls too. Wearing sexy dress too duh 🙄. And that is they life not your. And not ur problem. Ur problem is ur problem and ur fans, little mix problem is they problem and they fans. I am a fans of little mix and there's no problem. Well i used to be ur fans, but i didn't get it? Why would u make other people down infront of people? People who makes other people down will never be successfull. If u support them, see the positivity.
Learning English is so hard, you shouldn't discourage others who are trying to practice/speak the language. You should appreciate that you are good at it and acknowledge the people that are taking the time to learn it. Spreading negativity is such a "waste of time" to me.
Uhm Melanie C was always in a tracksuit when she was Sporty Spice. She was the only Spice Girl who didn't show much of her flesh. And also she truly supports Little Mix and her cameo on the Word Up music video is enough proof!
The thing is that it’s not their responsibility to have to watch what they wear or sing about just because they have some young fans I think it’s the parents that have to look after there children. Not LM
As for the "I wore tracksuits and felt no pressure"... OK firstly, you also almost always wore crop tops, or see-through tops with bras - and there was no pressure on you because Geri was always in miniskirts and Mel B was always in a bra. Others were overcompensating. Don't delude yourself into thinking the label would have put no pressure on you if all 5 of you had decided to wear tracksuits. You spoke openly about your eating disorder due to the pressure... you know it's not that simple.
'Young girls' don't feel the need to be sexy. Especially Little Mix. They like what they wear and they slay what they wear. Let's just leave it at that. But I do understand where she's coming from.
The Spice Girls were an amazing girl group and so is Little mix. Little Mix represent girl power and the girls are awesome ❤️ Talented and beautiful 🥰 The Spice Girls wore costumes they wanted to wear in that time and now it's a whole different story
No you _definitely_ are a hypocrite here, Mel. Adore you - grew up on The Spice Girls (in my 30s now) and you were always my favourite. But come _on_ - even if you pretend that you didn't think the Say You'll Be There video was meant to be sexy... even if you see 2 Become 1 as a lovesong (lol)... "Naked" from the first Spice Girl album is still on my playlist and it is NOT about true love and friendship... it's about casual sex, quite obviously. I was singing along to your songs when I was 8, 9, 10 - and I turned out just fine. Get honest, now. I know those years may be a blur.
I hate it when people call Little Mix inappropriate, just because some of their fans are little girls. But Little Mix was NEVER A GIRL GROUP FOR KIDS, since day one they talked about overcoming obstacles, abusive and toxic relationships, low self esteem, etc.
@@amareimani4432 the Spice Girls weren't so provocative at the time they were in the top! They went to channel with kids, they went to commercials of Pepsi and more, that kind of merchandising has a lot of ppl as consummers! I lived the 90's and I can't tell You How was the Spice Girls' impact in the pop culture! Little Mix are more provocatives but they arent who put the rules, the discographic is who take the main decisions, so the half/semi nudity is common cuz the music industria wants that. Melanie was talking because She has all the experience! She knows the bussiness better than a lot of ppl, She's one of the legendaries: Spice Girls! Bye.
Well, yeah you're a hypocrite. "I'm a big supporter and always will be." Is this your support for them? Slamming them that they were too provoactive? You were also provoactice in your days with the Spice Girls! You also wore sexy outfits on stage while performing. Don't come for them. What's the difference with them? They wear what they want to wear, because they are confident with it and that what makes them (and all women) strong and not afraid. This is women empowerment.
If you actually listened to what she said you’d actually stop making yourself look like a damn fool. Sport Spice was the less provocative in the band, and she didn’t have much flesh showing like some others (Geri) she normally wore tracksuits. If you trying to come for the Spice Girls hun you better come with some receipts.
@@will952 no they weren't lol spice girls literally got on stage pretending to be naked while singing their song called naked. Y'all hate the truth. This is coming from someone who is a HUGE fan of the spice girls but if it bs it bs just bc it comes from someone you like doesn't make it any less bs.
I don't think she so much of a hypocrite but I do think her words were taken out of context. The Spice girls were very provocative however as well so that part was true. But I don't think she meant to call Little Mix out the way they made it sound like she did. I do feel for her!
What about Ariana Grande? Nicki Minaj? Fifth Harmony? And the others female artist? Not complain about them? Little Mix not a Kids anymore they can wear anything that they want!
she only said little mix because her daughter was a big fan, and probably because she gets asked about girl groups a lot. fifth harmony, no disrespect to them but they were never big in the UK so i doubt she or her daughter really followed them.
Not trying to diss on the spice girls, but their aesthetic was more immature and childish than little mix’s tbh. Like they low key looked like cartoon characters. Little Mix isn’t supposed to be a band for really young children like the spice girls seemed to be. Their songs are about much more mature topics and are clearly aimed at a more mature audience as well, so why would they change their aesthetic to appeal to young children when that’s not who their target audience is?
I think it's bc she is a mom now, not bc she is older bc I remember a promo for their movie where Vic was looking at herself in the mirror ans asked the girls "is this dress too short?" and all the girls said no so Vic pulled it up even more to show more skin. so I just think that she had a change of perspective now that she became a mom
tbh i can understand her viewpoint. when she was in the spice girls, she didn't really dress 'sexy' and was mostly in tracksuits/trousers, so maybe she was quite oblivious to how the others dressed and how 'sexual' they were. she is a mother now, so i can see why she'd see it differently. i think the spice girls also had that image from the very beginning, where as little mix changed theirs drastically.
I love, love, l❤ve Little Mix but can appreciate where Mel C is coming from. For the record, Mel C said she supports Little Mix, she just isn't a fan of the overly provocative clothing/dance moves because her child follows them. Regardless of how the Spice Girls were in the past, Mel C is a mum now, understandably protecting her young daughter's innocence is top on her list. As the parent, it's her responsibility to guide her child and not Little Mix's. On the other hand, it's also true that the media can be a powerful force which can't always be avoided or controlled so good luck if you have young kids. Personally I see LM's style as a form of modern self-expression. I think they're good role models for self-acceptance. But I do respect Sporty's opinion if she doesn't see it that way. I sincerely feel no need to release the kraken on her. Love and Peace. ✌
i don't understand what did she mean by saying why do young girls want to be seen in that way... like why does a women showing her leg or skin be considered as SEXUAL like its a women's right to be able to be confident in her clothing its her right to choose what she wants to wear without anybody pointing out her intentions.... its wrong to think that a women showing her legs is been considered as sexual as if she showed her privates or something...... ITS 2018 FOR GOD SAKE
they had underwear on actually. and yes it was maybe a bit provocative, but a lot more tasteful imo considering their young fanbase. it gave the allusion of being naked but they weren't doing like a miley cyrus dance along with it.
They weren't fully naked. They were almost naked yet the performance was classy and as said above "tasteful". It's not what they wear, it's more their attitude while wearing certain clothes. Little Mix usually wear short pants a là Beyoncé, and just as the latter, they constantly shake their asses on stage looking like strippers. Take a look - ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-MngSlslSwBE.html. Spice Girls have never been like that. They were always more cartoon-ey than sexy. I love super sexy female singers so I'm not complaining about LM's provocative style but Mel C has definitely a point. She wants her daughter to aptly avoid watching half naked girls shaking their asses on stage, especially because her daughter is a big fan of Little Mix. There's an "age" for everything if you know what I mean. That stuff is for adolescents and adults much more. Plus, it seems that female artists can't avoid getting nude or naughty on stage, it seems it's a step that they need to take by default. We've just gotten to a point where "not being sexual" is controversial.
@@xxxTIN0xxx she wants her daughter to avoid looking" lol that's excatly what her and her group did. Go to stage barely clothed. Yet here she is talking and her stupid fans like you also want to talk shit about little mix. Go to hell
When I was a teen the girl band I identified with was Bananarama, because (before they were taken up by SA&W) the way they dressed was cool without being inyerface sexual. I so-o-o-o-o wanted to look like them in dungarees :-D
Spice Girls were sexy, but very classy. Emma even said in 2013. They wouldn't be considered sexy in this time. No they weren't naked during naked. They wore nude colored outfits to give the illusion. Trust me if they did that, it would have been a huge scandal in the 90s. Sexuality was much tamer and mild in the 90s then it is now.
@James Balanced ha no it wasn't. And so the hell what if Little Mix twerk? Why do you stalk little mix concerts to see the amount of times they twerk? It's their bodies, their performances, their rules. Ain't much you old geezers can do about it. Atleast Little Mix are far more talented anyway she's a hypocrite and prolly speaking out of spite and envy and so are you. Class my ass
She should reread the lyrics to 2 Become 1 and then talk about how non-sexual the Spice Girls were 😂 They weren't as provocative as girl bands today but they were way more provocative than the girl bands that came before them. And Little Mix dances. Bands like Pussycat Dolls or Destiny's Child need dance outfits. Spice Girls just stepped side to side 😂
Spice Girls is one of a kind, They need not to struggle and to get the success they had, IN short time they had all these ✔️85Million Records Sale ✔️152Awards won ✔️Numerous Commercials ✔️Numerous Headlines ✔️Became Fashion Trendsetters ✔️Their accents are amazing ✔️Humors are so natural ✔️Strong Attitude ✔️Beautiful Faces, beautiful even they already aged ✔️They had a successful movie ✔️They have dolls ✔️Massive Merchandising ✔️And up until now their concert still selling out. If any girl band could do what they have done then I'll be a number one fan of them, but I think there is none apparently
@ASAP DONKEY a lot of people got amazing talents but being a phenomenon is rare, even oscar and Grammy winners are big fans of spice girls. 2019 Billboard Top Box imagine after 24 years they're actually long gone in the industry but still receiving awards, so how about your little mix there. Add all your little mix concert box office in 10years still can't get close to Spice girls ticket sales. Sorry
had to come back cause i love both spice girls & little mix but i feel like this was so wrong of her to talk on what little mix wear since she was in a girl band that were ALL about girl power???? when you're bashing other women & groups for what they wear i don't think you're living up to what you were campaigning for back in the day lol
You can count on one hand the times when the Spice Girls were 'provocative' in terms of performances and photoshoots. A majority of the time they were having fun, jumping about on stage and had a sense of humour. They were unique. It's not just Little Mix who portrays this modern day sexualised image it's become the norm in the music industry. But Melanie C made a good point. I really can't stand these fan bases who feel the need to put down other artists if anyone criticises them in any way. Grow up.
But at the time the fact that they wore miniskirts so short you could see their underwear was considered "too much"... culture changes - in the culture then, THAT was sexualized, twerking and sexual dancing were not part of pop culture yet so you can't really expect them to have had that option.
I agree with Melanie C, you can wear the clothes that you want but if you´re using cabaret´s clothes or dressing like if theyr in moulin rouge. There´s differences between being sexy and looks like table dance ballerinas, SNS but my father always is saying me: Why these girls are dressed like....?.....can you imagine? So obviosly she has a daughter and she's a little girl...very influential.
Little Mix are not responsible for her daughter goddamit. It's her responsibility and it's not like LM put a spell on some random kids to like them. They're grown now and can wear what they want to. Ok bye
@@amareimani4432 they arent responsible But they are selling nudity, and that's a fact! I'm almost sure that her daughter wants to wear clothes like little mix suits but she needs to explained to her like she can't dress like that cuz in the real life there are a lot of prejuice! They aren't responsible cuz her daughter, they are responsible for their images, they are selling that image!
@@DraPaulaFlor selling that image? How come you people weren't there to say this about the spice girls when they too used to sell "nudity". So it's fine if they do it but when little mix wear what makes them comfy on stage it's not right. I know people were all 2 year olds when spice girls was a thing but don't you direct your hatred at LM simply because you are 67+ year olds now okay. And for your information little mix sell music not nudity you sick pervert. You mean you listen to music just to see whether or not women are covering their thighs eh? How pathetic
Always the same shit about the old generation denying the priviledges they had to the younger ones and lecturing us about what's apropriate or not. It's exhausting. Hypocrites
Someone is salty because she is not nearly as talented as little mix. The only female artists I know who aren't "provocative" is Adele and Kelly Clarkson. 🤷
It was a totally different time 90’s And they rocked what they were wearing... I grew up with spice girls and they weren’t ever provocative (not their warm vibes at any rate), just naturally cool and nothing ever felt forced! ... The comments on here lol-That’s like saying that back then they should have dressed up in suits to garner your respect! Spice girls were sophisticated yet free and experimental / or iconic! Little mix’s outfits have been consistently vulgar and desperate looking (not a great signal to send younger girls or to engender bad taste) and what’s with the emphasis on their 🐪‘s! Their stylists needed to be handed brand new jobs! Mel C is absolutely right... Little Mix consciously have poor, slap it on and bobs your uncle taste that without raw creativity equaled epic fails... Geri had the Union Jack 🇬🇧 Stiched last minute onto a dress and it became iconic! Or Mel C wore her trackies (she duhhh actuality loves the gym!) and did her signature backflips ICONIC / or Victoria wore posh outfits and now she’s actually a fashion designer ICONIC / Mel B beautifully showed her physique in flattering yet daring / unique clothes with her Afro hair ICONIC / baby was sweet and not loud & Emma Button still sweet and on the Calm vibes -their choices were not fake or manufactured looking but a true reflection of their personalities... the little mix girls failed to use their platform to dress tastefully! Spice girls were cool... Little Mix are proof that their team are DragRace fans! Saying spice girls need to look themselves up is just on the Slut-shaming angle, when all they did is dress in women’s clothing! Little Mix’s team were too obsessed with that Beyoncé Single Ladies look (which ironically - like with the Spice Girls - was a look created by Beyoncé’s mum (iconic creativity)... that look doesn’t suit everyone and sometimes little mixes outfits were just a copy paste of a look they didn’t create and taken to the extreme of looking uncomfortable or gross and used over and over! Little Mix have phenomenal voices, so whenever they dress is simply phenomenal clothing with beautiful makes up like on Strictly, they natural brand pops out and is tasteful... they get it right when they don’t play dress up! Leave that to the Spice Girls who were actually good at it in terms of creating separate character driven looks for a band! In the 90’s it was their individuality that we all latches onto (hence having our clear faves, Mine was Mel C) and they haven’t changed as people. And right down to the spice girls dolls, proof that we loved those girls for just representing their best qualities aptly which could be applied to merchandise easy peasy!
How? Honestly little mix are. And out of all the girls spice girls she never really was like that much at all. And honestly spice girls even in some of their more risky song still weren’t on stage shaking their asses and boobs infront of everyone every time they could.
Perighesade Ednockelwal honestly you little mix fans need to get over it. It was how long ago now and you acted like she said some horrible crap. She was asked about it in an interview cuz it was the topic of conversation at the time for everyone and she give her answer/opinion. Which all she really said was that she thought they were being too Ronchi or overall sexual and she didn’t feel comfortable having her daughter watch it. Then everyone else kept bring it up to her. Mel c support and like little mix you people are making a big deal out of nothing.
