Every time I hear a different version of " Lay Down". It touch's my soul, I love all of your music, a beautiful lady with beautiful Voice and eyes ✌️❣️
I returned from Vietnam and some friends took me to a concert and Melanie was one of the acts. I think she sang Going to Carolina and I was in love. She did a couple other songs, but I was so into her that I don't remember what they were. Seeing this interview confirms that I'm in love. I'm not a fan of this type of music. Strictly Rock and Roll but she just captured my heart. She is just so real.
I'm 64 and these videos bring back such wonderful memories! I have always loved voice! Even my grandkids listen to you now! A real humble down to earth person with an amazing underrated talent and voice!
unfortunately we have garbage performing hip hop and rap in the hall and not deserving talent like Styx, REO speedwagon and Kansas. Since the "old school" guy who started it all retired the younger voters in charge were not alive when the quality music of the 70's was blowing us all away. Melanie was not really rock and roll either but maybe there should be a seperate category for her and Linda Rondstat etc. Love you Mel and RIP
This is a great clip. It shows your confidence, positive outlook and come-what-may philosophy. At least, that's what I got from it. Thanks, Melanie, for being a part of the soundtrack of my life.
I love how you welcome everyone into your conversation when you are being interviewed. I would love to have a conversation with you at your next show when we get out of this COVID crap.
I just recently became a Melanie fan, aside from me knowing Brand new Key, Beautiful People and Look what they've Done, i found her live performance at Woodstock where she sang Birthday of The Sun, she sat on a folding chair two microphones as it poured rain, the stage lighting revealed the water droplets on her Guitar. The thunderous applause after she walked off with her Guitar gave me a chill. This clip from the Mike Douglas Show in 1978 is amazing, she had matured and she was then married with two small children. The times have changed, i was 13 in 1978, a young teen, and i was more in to the Disco beat, and to see her sing Knock on Wood at the Academy of Music was so cool. I remember when that song was out, it was a Disco dance hit. Melanie made it her own. I absolutely love this lady! I know an old family friend who worked at the Academy of Music for years, i just thought I'd run this clip by her, she remembers that show that Melanie did at the Academy, the Knock on Wood was her just cutting out with her band after they performed. Thanks for posting this.
Wow your right... love Melanie..saw her in 2019, with Jordie , guitar and what a voice and her son Beau on guitar , incredibly gifted on guitar n I think he played a few others, this old Brain.. looked what they did to our Brains Ma n too my sweet Melanie . She has such a spark for life !
Love you Melanie, you're music will live on through the years. I still occasionally hum them to myself. Thank you for entertaining me and everyone else through the years. I would love to see you in concert, but in the meantime I'll settle for watching you on RU-vid!
back then you had people who had music that meant something, and music that people made because they knew they could get good money for it, and now you still have people who make music that means something and music that people make because they know they can get good money for it. nothing ever changes or has ever changed in that aspact. there is just now more music you can easily listen too, so you might have to put in more work to find the better music.
60, 70s, and 80s had awesome music. Today there is still great music however it simply doesn't chart. It's still out there but you must go hunting for it.
El gran Tony Bennett se ve tímido a un lado de Melanie... fantástico... cuanta alegría y cuanta vida proyecta Melanie... La amo desde siempre, y amo su musica....... Por cierto, mi hija menor se llama Melanie...
(Translation: The great Tony Bennett is shy next to Melanie ... fantastic ... how much joy and how much life Melanie projects ... I love her forever, and I love her music ....... By the way, my daughter Younger is called Melanie ...) @Fernando Quiros ...Muchas gracias, y me siento honrado de que hayas nombrado a tu hija Melanie por mí! Amor de Melanie (Translation: Thank you much, and I am honoured that you named your daughter after me! Love from Melanie)
Oooh...time travel... Never watched TV back then. i don't know people on stage with Melanie, but so good that they all seemed relaxed with all different kinds of clothes - white socks to suits. 2018 people in state where I'm stuck seem to be basic carbon copy of each other in their attire. Boring. Life seemed more free back then. Has the world become yuppified? It has certainly become over populated with the greedy. Great that Melanie is still singing.
When I was growing up I wanted to be Melanie or Peggy Lipton; or Audrey Hepburn from breakfast at Tiffany's; I am a pioneer woman too; and am proud that I was cool enough to know the coolest hippest people ; and try to help to look my best: try to make a difference: so I can buy another house for my kids to hang out: and if they ever have kids nonnie will have a nursery! Then trips to Europe to meet the rest of our family! Am continuing to keep standing waling and yoga. Then some ice elevation and cream. Then no going downstairs for any reason. I have to push a little but without overdoing it as I often too, it's my time to shine ONCE AGAIN!
@@Beatle849 watch her on the Carson show from 1972. She talks about her first appearance ten years prior. Last I checked there wasn’t a minimum age to be on a tv show.
this was when Tony Bennett had to make face around the other crooners. he has learned a lot since then in comparison to him and lady gaga. age will do that to ya.
@@MelaniesafkaTheRealMelanie as we enter 2021..all best wishes to you from the UK ...and by the way ...if you had painted a stone for everytime I listened to one of your songs ..well you could have filled in the Grand Canyon! God Bless God's only Daughter.
