Melanie is known for being a multi-hyphenate she's a singer-songwriter, actress, director, screen-writer, music producer, MV/Film editor, fashion designer, choreographer, MUA, Photographer, Magazine editor and the list goes on! her debut album "CryBaby" is literally a cultural reset I'm lowkey surprised that you've never heard about her before. Both her albums Crybaby and K-12 are Concept albums + Visual albums and she portrays a character named Crybaby which is the fairytale version of her own self all these subjects that she writes about are not necessarily about herself but also about the things that she sees and witnesses happening in the world and she thinks it's not being talked about enough so basically she loves storytelling and does it in a perfect way through a character's lens! mel says that creating art either it's writing a song or the script for a movie or a music video treatment is so therapeutic to her and her whole purpose in creating art is to help people heal and cope with it and something for them to resonate with. there's a MV for all 13 songs of Crybaby and you should definitely watch them in the chronological order (From Crybb to Mad Hatter) and you should definitely check out her sophomore album K-12 which is a sequel to Crybaby and it's accompanied by a feature length flim of the same name which melanie wrote, directed, designed and starred in! and last year she dropped an EP titled "After School" which contains the deluxe tracks from K-12 and the EP is quite personal and not necessarily about the character crybaby. So you should definitely check it all out!

omfg i love that you listened to this, its such a good album... the whole concept is actually genius to make it all very childish and also deep and dark, you should check some of her MV for this era, not even for a video, just cause they're really good lol its almost a visual album, a LOT of songs have videos, and they actually tell the story of the character 'Cry Baby', which is the same in her next album K-12 aswell

I’ve seen other cry babies comment here. I don’t know if anyone has said this but The albums do follow the character ‘CryBaby’, from what I know the storyline of this album stops at ‘Mad Hatter’ and then continues onto Melanie’s 2nd Album ‘k-12’. The extra tracks in the 1st album are still of the character but not so much attached to the storyline. Meanwhile, melanies ep ‘after school’ is an experimental project that is more personal to Melanie.
