In my drama class, we were singing songs to a few other school drama classes. My friend chose this. She locked eyes with a teacher from another school while her eyes were wandering because she was nervous It was not pretty. At all. Some kids wanted to call the cops. Everything ended up ok though
As a sexual abuse victim, this song is not "goals" it's dark, disturbing and creepy, and it should be. Sexual abuse of any kind whether it be from an adult or an older peer, is scary, and lonely, it makes you question yourself, who you are, it makes relationships of any kind impossible and it can take a lifetime to get over from. If you truly think a relationship with an adult of any kind is goals I think you should seek help or something. I personally love this song because it sends a message, However if you think it glorifies or reinforces your views in any way, again you're wrong, It was made to show you how abuse can be seen from the victim, who has been manipulated to feel this way. Although I don't feel this way because I wasn't fully aware of what was happening to me. A lot do, they feel as though it is their fault, or that they're special somehow. Which isn't true. (they are special but not to the abuser in the way they think). Okay, sorry for the rant just had to get this out.
Me: **finds out K-12 is not available on Philippine cinemas & too broke to buy the album** Melanie: oh boo don't worry **uploads the whole movie and the songs** All hail our kind hearted Melanie, best day everrr
My president, the French president Emmanuel Macron actually, met his wife in high school she was his French teacher. Yes, there are many abusive relationships there, but not all of them.
@@magmaska Children shouldnt be dating adults. Children shouldnt be forced to have sex by adults who are pathetic enough to force their disgusting sexual desires on a literal CHILD. There are no excuses. Adults are supposed to protect them, not fucking date them. Period.
@@cozycozes7137 Yes you are so right it is okay to date as long as you guys are close in age by like 12 or 13 years and 20 or 30 years apart that is called pedophilia
People think this song is weird and I agree. Because that's what this song should make you feel ... discomfort. When girls are abused by old people, many people say "but she was looking for him," "I heard she was flirting with him, so she deserves it." This song is narrated from the perspective of cry baby looking at a girl being manipulated by an adult man, her teacher. She is not able to give consent and the girl's mind is easy to manipulate, unlike this OLD ADULT who knows exactly what he's doing and he manipulates her mind so that she thinks he loves her, that he wants a future with her, all that to treat her like his pet. . It is NEVER the child who is to blame because they are not mature enough, nor is it legal. It is always the fault of the adult men who date minor girls and I love this song because that is the message Melanie is trying to convey. Listening to this song I feel completely angry because old men really manipulate other girls and use them, this is more common than everyone thinks and I have already seen it in my environment, in my own school, with an adult teacher. It's disgusting. Fucking grown ass men ... start dating people your age, don't manipulate the younger girls and then blame them for YOU did to them and make an excuse that "she wanted it" she is a young child and that's still illegal. Stop blaming the victim.
I'll probably erase this later but thank you so much for saying this. I'm ashamed to say what happened to me because the man who did it to me blamed it on me and I felt like I really was the one to blame. But thankfully I have now realized that it was his fault, not mine
I'm pretty sure most girls in their pre teen years heard an older man saying that they're so beyond their years or that they're so mature for their age in a sexual tone disguised as an intellectual one. And if you didn't, I know many girls envy you.
it's just so funny to me how she makes it obvious she's not trying to pass this topic as a cute fairytale and people still don't get it. she literally put a f*cking bug at the start to make the audience uncomfortable. she put an evil laugh to express there's someone behind the thoughts of the young child, meaning an adult it's manipulating the way this child thinks. she's literally expressing how a young child will still be immature no matter how "beyond their age" they think they are. the child goes from saying "i know I'm young but my mind is well beyond my years" thinking they had the situation under control to "f*ck u don't u leave me here" at the end being thrown away when the manipulation was over.
I was 11 or 12 when I was almost sexually abused by my friend's older brother. He was 17 or 18 & just started randomly complimenting me & interacting with me whenever I was over at their house. I was confused at first but grew to like it since he was older & kinda cute(to an 11/12-year-old, so maybe not that cute) & it felt nice to be told I was smart & pretty when I was being bullied so much at school. It all came to a head at my friend's birthday party at her house. I was never a confident child so I spent most of the party inside while the other kids played in the backyard. He came up to me & we talked for a bit before he asked me to come to his room so that he could show me something. I was kinda nervous & something in my gut told me not to, but I had such positive memories associated with him I felt I had to. I was about to go into his room when my angel of a mother came into the house looking for me & saved me from being sexually abused by him. Unfortunately, my friend(his sister), wasn't as lucky. Years later we learned from their stepmother that he had been sneaking into his little sister's room & sexually assaulting her in the middle of the night. His parents ended up disowning him & haven't heard from him since. I'm not really sure how to end this comment but thanks for listening to my childhood trauma. Edit, 10/1/21: It's been about a year since I posted this comment, & I just wanted to thank you all for your kind words & sympathies. It's been a very difficult year for me, my father passed away due to a terminal illness, but getting the occasional notification & seeing your sweet comments have really helped me get through some rough days. I'm doing better, I started seeing a therapist some weeks after I posted this comment, & have been slowly but surely working through my thoughts & emotions regarding this experience & my traumas. I had felt so guilty for so long, thinking that maybe if my friend's brother had access to me maybe he wouldn't have done what he did to his sister. I still feel like this sometimes, but I now understand that his horrible actions are his fault & noone else's. A few months ago I ran into my friend's father at the grocery store. We chatted for a bit, he said she was doing okay & we left it at that. I actually had a dream that I ran into her & told her I was so sorry for what she went through. I'm not sure what I would actually say if I saw her, maybe one day I'll know. But for now, I'm taking it a day at a time & doing pretty good. Remeber, your worth is not defined by the pains & traumas inflicted upon you by others.
@@-hamilton-9151 It sort of has a threatentingly mysterious tone and a lot of the lyrics like "If I'm so special why am I secret?" are sort of pointing out the beginnings of realizing that the teacher's not going to let this end well and it's all about exploitation.
@@basketwind4110 Yup, by the name of the track too. It was either that or an overachieving student that becomes the teacher's favorite and that upsets CB up since she lacks support from the teacher... But considering the darker tones of the movie the first one still made more sense
can you drop their account username? what i saw on twitter was a bunch of conspiracies that the song's about how bias teachers can be, especially when the student is rich, etc
I'm actually not uncomfortable with this song lmao, I only ever get uncomfortable with these topics when they're sexualized, and presented as something normal and okay. I love the fact that Melanie basically made this the most sinister sounding song on her album, like it should be. It disgusts me when TV shows mainly, show teacher/student relationships as some kind of "forbidden love" trope, or as something hot. It's not, it's a perfect example of how an adult can genuinely manipulate a young adult, and fuck them up. It's tragic and horrible, so this song slaps and also presents this situation perfectly.
But those are tropes in fictional media though. That’s all it is at the end of the day. People have teacher x student kinks and some people like reading forbidden love based stories in fiction. Anyone with common sense can differentiate fiction from reality and realize that certain tropes should only be enjoyed in fiction. This being one of them. And if they can’t understand that, then they’re either too young or too idiotic to be consuming said trope and shouldn’t.
I really hate the sound of the fly at the beggining but I feel that that's the way of making the concept even stronger, like a gross and annoying topic. And I love it.
It's also because on the movie there's a fly in the desk of the girl then the teachers kills it and there's where crybaby sees the teacher giving his eyes to a student
@@sukanyasadhukhan9722 K-12. It's the movie where this song came from. I haven't watched it yet, but I heard that it's a really good movie, so maybe check it out?
This song is really important for girls who think that their teacher, or any man much older than them while they’re still very young for that matter, really love them. This song can help them realize that they are being taken advantage of, and that what they’re experiencing isn’t real love at all. Melanie always does nothing but speak facts!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ edit: it's been 3 years for the love of god I KNOW IT CAN HAPPEN TO BOYS TOO. I said girls because 1. the victim in this song is a girl and 2. I unfortunately have trauma from a community full of mostly girls who idolized relationships like this. please stop.
Inês Ferreira that is not okay for you to do. please get therapy or something because you have a very bad mindset about this. if you’re a teenage girl and having sex with a grown man for “fun” you really need to understand that it’s not right.
Diamond Suxx Yes I know. It’s just that I’ve seen a lot of girls on stuff like tumblr and instagram who are convinced by creeps that it’s “true love” and that people “just don’t understand” or “aren’t accepting.” There are girls with daddy issues that are being groomed by much older men when they’re only teenagers and when people try to tell them it’s dangerous they don’t listen because it’s “true love.” I see this happen a lot.
Omg the part of this song during the movie is so so so scaring!!!!😭😭😭 It reflects so much on issues of a twisted relationship between manipulating teacher and naive students!!! Really can't love you more Mel!!!
king of the dead yah that was weird. instead of like kidnapping her, or sexually abusing her, he shrunk her down and tortured her?? I thought this was about pedophillia?
K so hear me out. In the movie, Cry Baby's friend (I forgot her name) licks a lollipop. I think we all know what that symbolizes her licking. Immediately after she likes the lollipop, she shrinks, and the teacher is able to toy with her more easily. I think her shrinking is symbolizing her dignity, and the second she loses her dignity, the teacher is able to treat her however he desires, becuz it is usually our dignity that stops us from doing "those things". I am probably wrong, but it was just a thought.
I don’t think they meant the licking like that, they’re like kinda supposed to be like young so he knew the lollipop would work and it dipped it on a shrinking potion when angelitas back was turned
Every frame and track of Melanie's work is honestly constantly one big metaphor. She's most definitely a visual artist. Extremely talented young woman.
Shoto Todoroki!!! ♡ I love Todoroki. Also, whenever I need to look for lyrics, I go on safari and look for lyrics on genius, because it’s more reliable than the wiki.
Yo I just realized something and I'm *shooketh* OK so until some point, crybaby and k-12 are happening at the same time. In pity party, Crybaby is nine, and k-12 started in kindergarten when she was five. I don't know exactly were they stop happening at the same time since we don't know how old she is in mad hatter. As I said, in pity party she is nine, and she's also nine in nurses office. If you're still reading, here's a cookie 🍪
I also have a theory: She is younger in crybaby because in the video Mad Hatter, you see exactly when she gets her powers. Probably CryBaby is set before she began going to school, and K-12 is when she began going to school
@@visitinghours420 lmao fuck off, let us give our queen her views and not on some rando's video. Oh also, we always get captions one way or another, you aren't special. (P.S. I don't see you with color coded lyrics that have the lyrics written in both languages)
SPOILER FOR THE FILM! Is no one gonna talk about the fact that she killed the teacher? 😂 EDIT: Yes I know it was Angelita who killed him I just couldn't remember her name at the time of the original post. Also thank you for all the likes I wasn't expecting such a reaction ❤️
We have a PE teacher at my school who is a creep. He is in his 50's or 60's, gives girls nicknames and has literally walked _into_ the changing rooms multiple times saying "Don't worry I'm not looking, just grabbing stuff from the back cupboard". I was unlucky enough to get his class this year and even though people have complained to the school about him the other teachers don't do anything. He was on leave for the first two terms we were supposed to have him due to 'injuries' but someone said one of the teachers let slip that he was dealing with 'legal matters'. Last term (before the holidays that I'm now in) he has called my friends 'Tammykins' and 'Gemmakins' and 'Ryleekins', told an ex-friend multiple times that she has a 'beautiful smile', raved on and on about how he was 'so lucky to have two girls in the class with the name Audrey' and complimented the girls about how they are 'superstars' whenever they remember to bring/wear sports uniform (the girls sport uniform shorts are _really_ short and the tops are tight). I can't wait until this year is over. Update: I got in his class AGAIN ASFIXIDJDHEEU
I didn’t come across one song that was average. All of the songs on K-12 are PHENOMENAL. So proud of Melanie and her entire team for pulling off such an amazing project. Pure masterpiece. 💕🥺
Lyrics: Pop the teacher given his eyes to the student, Kindly, pretty, cute and she bit her lip back to him, Chillin on her nails and her pens while she’s dreaming of him, And he’s fucking in sin(you know he is), She said it’s for all the right reasons baby, Don’t care about grades just call me your lady, If I pass this quiz will you give me your babies, Don’t call me crazy, You love me but you won’t come save me, You got a wife and kids, you see them daily, Don’t know why you even need me. Teachers pet, If I’m so special, why am i a secret?, Yeah, why the fuck is that, Do you regret the things we shared that I’ll never forget, Well do you tell me that, I know I’m young, but my mind is well beyond my years, I knew this wouldn’t last, But fuck you, Don’t you leave me here, Teachers pet, If I’m so special why am I a secret? She feeling like a spider in a cage, You lair, you were her desire, Now she wants to light you on fire, But fuck it she’ll still give you a call and a lighter, When you wanna get high and mess around till you get numb, She said it’s for all the right reasons baby, Don’t care about grades just call me your lady, If I pass this quiz will you give me your babies, Don’t call me crazy, You love me but you won’t come save me, You got a wife and kids, you see them daily, Don’t know why you even need me. Give me back my money, Didn’t learn a damn thing honey from you, Expect how to lie and cheat, while inside the sheets, Stop calling me your bunny, I won’t hop and you don’t own me, Do you? I bet you think you do well you don’t.
I'm probably the only one who thought the teacher looked pretty damn fine to me... *Edit: yes, I mean the actor Marton Behr. I apologize for my horrible wording.*
pov: You're the teacher's wife, you watch with terror and betrayal as metal chains tighten around his wrist. You loved him, you needed him. You loved another version of him, the version that was the father of your children, your husband, your bright, caring husband. You watch as the sirens of the police accompany his screams, his guilty screams filling your head with the tiniest piece of doubt, 'Maybe this is a misconception, He wouldn't-' you stop. It's obvious. This man is no longer human. This man can no longer be described as human, for he is something far far more sinister.
Vintage Gemini! she said it’s for all the right reasons baby, don’t care ‘bout grades just call me your lady. If I pass this quiz will you give your babies?
This song is super meaningful and many people don't realise it. They're all saying "this is such a catchy song" but it's more than just a catchy song. It's about abuse. That isn't a joke. All those poor females who get abused think they're actually being loved by someone but it's not love. It's them using young women. It's really disgusting to know that that is a think in our world. Melanie brings a lot of good advice and people don't appreciate her for it and it's super sad to me. She deserves more than this. I'm really happy that not only is she a good person but she's spreading good vibes on the way. Not only did she give us an opportunity to watch her film free, INCLUDE NO ADS (that's my girl UvU), and she also gives her viewers ADVICE that's super touching and should be spread throughout our world because those problems are becoming a pain now. Love you, Melanie!
I like songs for the meaning, if they don't make sense or mean deep things I don't like it. When I listen to Melanie's songs like you said they give advice, and I appreciate that hard work she did for us
This can also happen to boys. ( don't forget about them to ) ( i can not write so good in english ) But the rest of what you write is right Mel is the best ♥
Wefyn Incorrect! Tag your it was about crybaby getting kidnapped, Teachers pet is about a relationship between a student and a teacher! I don’t want to spoil the movie, but the student isn’t crybaby
ill keep saying this. teachers pet is underrated. nurses office is everyone’s top :( update : 2/3 years later it’s 2022 and it’s finally getting the recognition it deserves 🥳
This song is definitely one of my favorite. Melanie expresses how it is not okay to be in a relationship with the teacher. "I know I´m young but my mind is well beyond my years" means that a female student is not aware of what is she saying. Maybe the teacher is giving her good grades for nothing and she thinks he likes her, but in reality, he is just manipulative. He has a wife and kids at home, but he acts like they don´t exist and that is a sad story.

*im deadass telling my science teacher Monday I had a movie to watch and it was more important, and I’ve never been absent before so it’ll be hilarious*
friendly reminder, especially to minors: this song is NOT condoning teacher/student relationships. many of the key lyrics are specifically expressing that these sorts of relationships are not okay, and never will be. this song is not "goals", nor is it something that should ever be glorified, romanticized, or even normalized in any way. any teacher that expresses this kind of interest in you is a predator and is specifically trying to manipulate you. DO NOT FALL FOR IT.
