The world really does seem a bit darker now you left us. What will I do now the show is all done? Keep playing your magical beautiful music. RIP Melanie , thank you for being. So much love.
Can anybody else hear this as a White Stripes cover? Like they did with Jolene? To me it has the same feel. This is by far my favorite recording of this song I’ve heard yet
Compare 1:37 or 2:22 of this song with Jack White's 'I think I found the culprit' at 1:14....Two crumbs on my window sill Two birds sitting there perfectly still One of them up to no good The other one doing what he totally should
This is obviously a later version of the song. Early Melanie and late Melanie are hard to listen to. I LOVE this woman but I think late 60's to late 80's was when her voice was prime. Early and late Melanie just lacked the quality in her voice that made me fall in love with her.
Ooops sorry your right. I'm not hating on Melanie believe me she was/is a huge part of my life. I just don't like how her voice sounded in the very beginning and don't think she sings the same now. Some of the songs on her Live at the BBC still give me goose bumps. She was the most beautiful and the most incredible singer in my lifetime. Still love "Almost like being in love" by her, listen to it often. Melanie was so awesome, she should have never fizzled away. I think she needed a better manager to promote her. She was just to popular to fad away like she did.
I'm not sure about that but I don't think Peter did all he could do for that dear Lady. So sad how he sold all the rights to her music and never told her, she found out after his death. Melanie should never have disappeared like she did, she still had many good years. Sometimes when artist take a break they never quite make a come back. There's only one Melanie and if you ever saw her live in the 70's you'll never forget how special she was.
