Answer: Hard Times. We've been there since 2008, not in the 1930's sense of poverty and mass unemployment, but in the form of a universal insecurity even worse than that of the 1930's. This insecurity is not merely economic, but inward and emotional; and apocalyptic (everyone is expecting something much like the End of the World). Such times call forth Scapegoating.

Jews in Israel and around the world, in the main, are extremely proud of Israel. You don't drop your allegiance because of a rogue prime minister, you encourage change.

Netanyahu has been the elected representative of the people many times and for a long time. As a democratic culture, we support our elected leaders. Even American presidents we don’t especially like.

@@patriciakimball8150 And both Israel and the United States have been kicking the can of the Palestinian problem down the road, following Netanyahu's 'leadership'. And this is where it has led. I am a long time student of this issue, though not an expert, and it is extremely clear to me that the right wing in Israel, abetted by multiple American administrations and the power of groups like AIPAC have led us into this disastrous situation. I am also a long time student of the Holocaust and Jewish persecution around the world and in America. What I find ironic from this conservative commentator is that in America, antisemitism has long been, and still is, mostly a conservative problem. Any quick google of US history of antisemitism will prove that. I abhor it from either political party. That does not change the calculus that Israel and the Palestinians must make peace. The days of American acquiescence in favor of Israel's domination of Palestinians are coming to an end.
