The beautiful voice is gone. The beauty remains. This old woman was the most sweet beautiful performer of the 1970's with such a sweet beautiful voice..
I love this woman. Her music has meant a lot to me over the years. I wish she would accept that she doesn’t have the power in her voice now and as she pushes she loses control. I would like to see her adopt a softer more intimate way of singing her songs. It would make them sound fresh and we would hear the quality albeit a softer version.
You know what's really sad here is that there are scoffers in some of the comments which just goes to show how ignorance can ignore such a musical legend with all the history behind it....21st century garbage at its best !
boomer21 No one is ignoring a musical legend’s talent or contribution to music. I’m a huge fan of Melanie and the music she has produced in her lifetime. But sadly, she is no longer able to sing well at all.
Mille merci à vous, Miss Melanie pour se couplet chanter en Français (Ils ont changé ma chanson Ma , c'est la seule chose que je sais faire est ce n'ai pas bon Ma )De la part d'un Français qui vous adore !!!! Thank You Mademoiselle Melanie Safka .Dommage vous n'êtes jamais venu à Paris hélas ............Thank melmussoc pour cet Happy New 2020.
I rmember sinatra attempting to keep his singing going even though hs voice was shot. sometimes artists just don't know when to stop. She used to have a great voice, So did Gordon Lightfoot.. but age takes its toll on the vocal chrods.. its just life. However, if they want to perform and people pay to see them then good for them.. I will still watch up to date performaces to see if the vocals are still somewhat intact. before buying tickets to any show. unless I am invited to go with someone who has a tcket.
Just no, any vocal quality has long departed, it's just a tuneless screech now, interwoven with shrieks. Sorry, an embarrassment of a performance. Hang up the guitar, it's over, never to return. Was she drunk? She sounded that way, or she's smoked an entire shipment of unfiltered, ultra high tar Marlboro or Camels before the performance, the voice was burnt out, absolutely burnt out.
I saw Nina Simone in concert not long before she passed away; her voice wasn't great but she was still wonderfully entertaining & brought her magic to the stage. I see this performance of Meanie's similar. She still has great presence & pulls it off. To expect someone who's now 70 to sound like they did at 20 after decades of singing for a living is frankly a bit unreasonable. . :)
