Meerkerk Gardens is a spectacular nonprofit in the heart of Greenbank and one of many reasons residents love calling central Whidbey "home".
The woodland garden features an incredible display of Rhododenron species inside it's10 acres of mature display gardens, which are surrounded by 43 acres of second growth forest. Meerkerk Gardens, have been a part of Whidbey culture since the early 1960s, when Ann and Max Meerkerk developed the first garden.
Peak bloom period runs: early to late spring, however guests visit the garden all-year-round thanks to a large selection of azaleas, trees, companion plants, as well as walking trails, benches, meditation gardens, ponds, and a nursery.
The gardens are open 9am-4pm 365 days of the year, except wind or snow events. Admission is $5. Kids 16 and under are free.
