I saw this on MTV classic this morning, I couldn't believe my eyes!

A friend at a record store (yes that long ago) played me this song off a brand new release/artist. I remember being a bit stunned at the fierceness of Melissa's singing (of course I bought the album). A great, lasting singer who can still rock with the best of them.

My sister lived in Australia for a couple of years back 90 /91 I was into the early rave scene jungle hardcore & house. It was refreshing to also have some proper ROCK music and decent lyrics. Timeless music ;-)

I remember having the same hairdo and similar fashions. What a fun time!!!

This is the second video I produced for Melissa in 1988 with famous Music Video Director Tony Van Den Ende on London's Vivid Productions. (no not the porno house!) We shot in a club call Mississippi Nights in St Louis and a club in Lexington Kentucky of all places. At the time actor Lou Diamond Phillips (LaBamba)was a cose friend. I thought it was a great time to bring a female Assistant Director since there were not many so I brought Lou's wife Julie Cypher. Well the rest is history!

I only heard of Melissa's music when I visited the US/Canada in 86. Not a whimper in the UK BBC controlled music scene, then or since. It's a humiliating shame that the wider British publc hasn't been aware of Melissa & her music.
