Yeah I was thinking about getting a Circuit Tracks. I really just wanted to get a Keystep Pro to use as a master to sequence all my gear but the price on them shot up $100.
Similar story for me. It really has its own sound and can add depth to almost any setup. It surprises me almost every time I play it and now that I have one I couldn't imagine not having it. It does make me feel bad for my Minilogue XD which isn't getting as much love these days.
@@coconutlust470 Same! The XD is also an amazing synth, but I think I prefer the OG Minilogue over it. The Reface is my favorite poly I own right now though. Definitely has a character all its own.
Right on my man! The CS is my fave synth! Soooo painfully underrated. Yamaha did an incredible love letter job with the Refaces and surely never deserved the harsh criticisms. I got the DX as my first synth and followed it up with the CS because FM synth was a bit too programmy for a first timer. But it has beautiful sounds. I got the CS and just fell in love. Absolutely beautiful
i've watched this video so many times and today's the first time i thought "how could i never subscribed to this channel?". well, there you go, mister.
Cheap synths, a Circuit, and a handful of effects pedals will take you far honestly. I love that you brought up the adaptability of the Tracks. Whether I have it and a 404 or if I have my whole collection at my finger tips I know the Tracks is gonna be a cornerstone in the set up.
The cs reface is virtual analog at its finest. The sound quality beats out the roland boutiques (for the most part) and it just has an unbelievable analog sound 👌
Excellent sound , as smooth as a minimoog , but pircing , screaming sharp as only the japanese makes them, .... the Empress slings it to the moon and back.....and so well executed 🤔
Love how the narration gives more insight into the setup, both entertaining to listen to and educational!! I also have a reface, and have a circuit rhythm coming to play around with :D
Bravo! This song rocks!! Last night I dreamt I made the perfect track w/ the Circuit, and guess what? I just realized that the melody in my dream was the main melody from this song! I listened to this track a couple of times, a couple of months ago, and it obviously stuck somehow, somewhere deep in my mind.` I’m still of the same opinion: the main melody is just perfect.
Gee, I hope I aint done THAT lately! WAY back in the day I had this tune - turnend out it was from the Fall's 'God Box' Mind you Smith always WAS kinda sh*tty to his band, so I aint ABOVE using it ;)
Really inspiring dude! I loved my first Circuit but ultimately sold it due to limitations that it seems like the Tracks addresses in just about every way. The pattern groups you were using alone look like such an amazing addition, not to mention the extra midi tracks, inputs for external synths to use the effects, etc. I'm really damn tempted to pick it up but I need to control my self since I just picked up a Digitone I'm trying to learn. Absolutely love it so far, and not sure why my brain wants to make room for both, but it's hard to ignore when this stuff is all so fun and has their own personality. Something about the Circuit's workflow though is just sublime!
Thank you so much for this video! First off it helped me be confident in buying both the Circuit Tracks and the Roland S-1, which have been so fluid, fun and great sounding! I’m really in the moment with them. Also this is an excellently designed and made video with a lovely piece of music being played! Well done, you made a belter! 👏👏👏👏
This convinced me to buy a circuit tracks, I wasn't sure about the screen-less thing at first but it's very intuitive and quick to build songs with it.
Amazing🎉😊…. I got bored of trying to work out what to do with my gear…. I bought some stuff randomly not thinking about how they can work together…. (Korg monologue, Meris Polymoon pedal, Circuit Tracks + ElectroHarmonix 95000 looper ) I have ADHD lol 😂 This amazing video makes me wanna go read a manual or two and give it another go! BTW, thanks so much for not doing a voiceover and just letting the gear do the talking. Your CC descriptions were short and sweet and a neurodivergent person like me, absolutely perfect so I could maintain focus the whole way through the video to the end !! ❤
First glance I thought "Whoa , Jay is doing a stripped down jam!" Nope ! Just looks that way as they're all small form factor . Never sounds stripped down anyways . Absolutely lush , perfect mirror of this time of year ; small things unfolding into majesty .
Getting along really well with the Circuit Tracks and S-1 and just added the Yamaha Reface CP for Rhodes etc. feeling at some point I may want to expand my midi channels and gear in general… would you recommend the Circuit Rhythm or an Elektron piece of gear, or…? I’d want to keep the fluidity of the Tracks, but maybe add other elements to my sonic capabilities. Also considering a Roland T-6S
amazing stuff. thx for putting this together and share your valuable knowledge. just might have to pull the trigger on circuit tracks.. its just a no-brainer investment for any aspiring live performer
Sounds amazing! And as you say these cheap synths really do sound great. I think large quality knobs, a large spacious interface and premium full size keybeds would set these devices at a much higher price without changing a single aspect of the sound. I sold my JU-06 because I didn't get around to playing it because of the lack of keyboard and the fiddly interface, but man it really delivered some angelic pads, mystical leads and more.
A pleasure to listen to and to watch. Thank you. I guess I'll finally order a Circuit Tracks as my entry into this world. Should work nicely with the Mircrobrute and XV-2020.
I mean if yer gonna splurge, putting that money on the empress is pretty smart cuz it really doesn't matter if it's an SK-1 with a razbury, it'll sound sweet. good thinking and the synergy you have going on here is inspiring :)
very cool! is it possible press the "record" button on Circuit Tracks and record live the Reface's theme into the jam? I'm trying to understand if i can do this with Microfreak and CT. Thanks!
how amaziing holy shit 🤩 I have a circuit trackts and a Microfreak, bit I just rpess buttons with no sense. Willing someday I'm capable to create soudns like you.
@@JayHosking yeah. If it has the same basic sequencing, then I think that might be my go to because I can run midi to better synths than the onboard nova stuff, can drop samples onto either, but more effects options looks appealing on the Rhythm
@@toomuchjam yeah, I think the Tracks would easily do what I want, but in no rush, so will wait until more solid details come out for the Rhythm, then make a final decision
Awesome! Is it the slightly slow attack on the Volca Keys or is it actually slightly out of sync? It sounds like there is some latency on the pad sound, always coming in a little late?
Dr.Hosking i presume ! ;-) So very elegant , to the point , concise , tidy and clean execution - I have a mental picture of Sia - running in a maze , a Minoian Labyrinth !? Excellent idea , using - "Profane" gear for a series - but ill await youre return to The Deckardian Daydream, With The Brute Force PolyMoon´s meandering Octatronik on The Typhoon in The Big Sky,- we could ALL need some more Unicorn i our life !
@@JayHosking But Ofcourse you are ! ... Damn , theres nobody , id rather see, with that that Dream Machine,- Ive been working , nonstop in the studio - on the studio - BUT i made some "Secret" music , that ill run by you , before release - -its - abit - well alot like the first , but this time i got it planned out - a tradesecret i learned from watching and listening to you playing ..... ;-)
