Nothing about this is fake in the slightest. Nothing was forced for drama or a good rhyme. Every single word is purely your heart speaking directly to mine, and it's so real it hits me like a truck. Somehow I get a similar feeling from the guitar at the very start. There's something so sincere about the sound that makes my heart flutter and I just can't stop the tears. This song, it sums up in a way something I'm going through. Although I don't think the words were meant to be originally interpreted in quite the same way. The girl I love and have loved for many years lives about 250 miles away across the other side of my country. She messaged me out of the blue about a month ago to say that she now has a boyfriend. On the inside I've been feeling a bit like a void since she told me, being borderline autistic, love and feelings have always been difficult for me. But this song seems to sum up my feelings into words on some level.
