I too was watching Kirk Franklin's Smile video with different artists. They tore it up. Decided to looked up Melvin and Jonathan to hear other songs they sung. This song is so beautiful, had me in tears. I felt every word. Donnie made it no better by singing too. To God be the Glory!

No. His tone is too weighted. I would call him a spinto tenor (like a Pavarotti) because his voice has a little more dramatic feel. However, it is hard to tell with gospel. Also, he has the ability to give us soft and light in his upper range. The approach to gospel often times is to belt it..... straight chest approach. But from what I have heard from Mel growing up, he gives a spinto tenor feel.
It is funny to see people in the choir that don't know what to do with their hands and are mimicking everyone else. I thought one lady was doing sign language. 😂 Laugh a lot On a serious note: I love Melvin Crispell's voice. Effortless
