Jesus fucking Christ. The sound and image quality on this is beautiful, thank you very much for posting! Euthanaisia on here is probably the coolest early Melvins I've seen on RU-vid. Where the fuck are they playing, the cafeteria of a K-mart or a Junior High School? 8 years after the band formed, 2 years before a major label release and Crover is BURYING the past 30 years of Rock and Roll drumbing.
I saw them on this tour in Boston at the Rat opening for the Cows (with The Tulips opening for them - their first show). They OPENED with Charmikarmacat - which I had yet to hear. The low rumbling sub octave guitar was real confusing. And Nirvana were there. Great, super memorable show.
They are playing at the Bethesda American Legion Hall which was immortalized by Mary Chapin Carpenter in her middle of the road 1990s hit "Down at the Twist and Shout."
@Chief10beers I think that when I saw them at about this time frame King was bitching about Preston being wasted all the time. He came out to the bar and talked for quite awhile about how Alchemy Records screwed them and saying they couldn't keep Joe up right. What's funny is I think this was Buzz's entire wardrobe at the time because he had on a red shirt and I believe cheap blue slacks when we saw them. I swear Dale's kit was gold with a HotWheels sticker when i saw them around this time.
No, that's a bell ride I think. He had that weird snappy thing from 'Anaconda' though - it was three bowed pieces of wood. His symbols were TRASHED when I saw 'em - like, huge chunks missing.
Did I tape this one? Is this your tape or did you get this from a trader? I used to zoom inappropriately and while my memory puts me on the right side of the stage, this looks like my camera work. The show was at the "Twist and Shout" club at the Bethesda, MD American Legion Hall. It was a month or two after the Melvins played at the International Pop Underground Convention in Olympia, WA
@llucasmaia Pearl jam really does blow though compared to the melvins not to mention your comparing a derpy rock band with a [at this time] metal band.
This was a safe sex flavored show with free blue rubbers. I remember that Buzz walked off stage because he wasn't into it. I think the always boring Egg's played too.
