[UPDATE - May 5, 2024] next person to write a comment about how the leak-list for next update has a new MiG-21Bis-UPG and this video will be outdated, im going to hit you with a frying pan. Keep in mind leak lists are not confirmed and take them with a grain of salt. I will make a smaller special-episode Meme Guide on the MiG-21Bis-UPG if it does come to the game.
When you're going up against jets that are built specifically to destroy you before you even see them, but their congress makes it illegal for them to fire at any plane they haven't visually identified. (History will forget that part and you'll be given full credit)
Don't forget congress completely screwing over South Vietnam by gimping them with Korea era weapon systems all for public brownie points and to blame their political rivals for losing a "war" that wouldn't have happened in the first place had their "darling" of a president didn't orchestrate the incident that brought the country into the war. The Russians nicknamed it "Balalaika" and were kinda pissed off when NATO nicknamed it "Fishbed". I like the double delta wing J-7E since it performs the best. Wish all deltas irl would be double delta.
Lmao none of MiG21 are bad. Even that goofy ass F-13 at 9.3 BR (it just lacks ammo but otherwise very good at its respectable BR). SMT, on the other hand is one of the strongest 10.3 aircrafts if not the strongest. bis is great in downtiers and decent in uptiers (even bought myself a talisman for it to boost research) MF might be worse than SMT but you don't really notice it playing random battles, unless it's some rare situation where the difference kicks in. J-7E is one of the greatest 11.0 in game surpassed, maybe, only by viggen due to better kit. Ah yes, forgot the SPS-K, but it's hidden and as for now unobtainable. This one sucks.
@@darykeng definetly not from 1.5km but yeah non all aspect missles still can often get lock even from a head on if you are within like 500m and the enemy is afterburning but due to the fact that pl5's accelerate that quickly there is no point in firing them in a head on since they will never pull in unless the enemy doesnt dodge and you lead the missle perfectly

when i grinded the mig 21 F13 every match was 10.3 because the F-5C and A-10 spam. And even then i enjoyed it (more than the mig19), idk why but getting a kill or several kills without going RTB is one of the best fellings i had in this game
37:06 This is so fricken true in the lazur, ill get a four kill game like an absolute badass, then ill get absolutely curb stomped for about five or six games by the most random reasons without a single kill (maybe an assist here and there)

A note about mig's radar. It was intended to guide pilot towards a visual range in low visibility weather. The idea was that general instructions for the intercept were provided by gci (and later by an auto intercept system, a predecessor of modern datalinks), and the radar was used for precise guidance towards an intercept/dogfight at close range, where the precision of a ground radar isn't high enough
Might have to grind a new tree, that MiC-21 looks interesting and the battlepass mustang might help get trough the first few tiers. Although I'll probably get the Indian bison first if the leaks are true.
19:42 I highly disagree with statement that R-13M1 is an AIM-9J equivalent. R-13M1 always had superior acceleration compared to any AIM-9J clone on it's BR, extending it's range and making TTK much shorter. I would ALWAYS choose R-13M1 over AIM-9J under any circumstances since it has much greater effective range and I would even choose it over 1x R-60M (Usually used mixed load of 2xR-13M1 + 4x R-60M on later MiG-21s) because effective range is so much better and due to short burn time of just 2s compared to 5s of AIM-9G family it is also quite stealthy at those ranges(3-4km in rear aspect easily).
1 correction the russians were actually cooking with the r13m1 and its has a much stronger motor then aim9j giving it one of the best ranges for a missle at its br also worth mentioning is that while all the radars of mig21's are kinda dogshit they are J band radars making them undetectable to many planes at their br's (notably - f5c,all the f8's, some of the f104's , kifirs and many other ones
42:41 Simply put, the reason for not increase range on the J-7 was because that would fuck with stability and maneuverability, one of the key advantage of MiG-21 airframe. If they want a longer range interceptor, they'd just make a bigger jets with more powerful engine instead....and they did tried that, which result in J-8 program, which is another topic on its own. In their mind, as they had J-8 program going for a long range interceptor already, there's no point in making a version of J-7 in which sacrifice maneuverability for a bit extra power and range that wouldn't catch up with J-8 anyway. This is the main reasons why relatively few J-7III family were made compare to J-7II and J-7IV. They did increase a bit of range out of later variant of J-7, but that came mainly from newer engine with increase fuel efficiency and larger external drop tank. There was a leak 2 hours ago that a MiG-21 Bison is going to be added to the GB tech tree part of the mini India tree next update. US is also getting a tech tree A6E SWIP so that's neat.
The Bis-SAU is honestly one of the more fun fishbeds to play, in my opinion. People just ignore you because "lol what is a mig21 doing here" And then they get curbstomped by a dorito that turns into a kite and simply hovers next to them while they stall at a higher speed. It's even more of a menace in SB...
MiG-21 MF is my absolute favourite jet to play. The combination of flares and R-3R's is the only reason (especially in 8.7-10.7 battles). It's still very ugly though. 3:56 This looks so, so much better.
Yup MF and SMT are the top MiG 21s. Such a fun plane at 10.3. Literally just sky climb and swoop in behind the a10s and bam you have a 4 kill game right at the start
the SMT is probably my favorite plane in the entire game if you stick to the philosophy of ''never be slow, fast is life'' you WILL NEVER DIE its a Godmachine. you cant catch me, your missiles aint shit, I will outrun you and be back on your ass before you know it. eternally fast, WTF IS TURNING OFF THE AFTERBURNER
