The first 40 pages of the book is the definition of the landscape of southern Turkey. He draws the flowers mountains rivers with magical words. Impressive! Also recommend “the legend of Ararat mountain” from Yasar Kemal

I read it in Turkish and bought copies in English for my foreign friends. The story is very touching, but like you said at the end, it's the storytelling that matters. Yaşar Kemal's narrative is beautiful, almost poetic. This is what makes him stand out among his contemporaries. It's not political, but through the descriptions and character creating, he makes his story unique and universal, almost timeless. Thank you for this. I'm glad you enjoyed it. He should have received the Nobel Prize.

I read it a long time ago. Your analysis is really great. I feel lucky to have read it in its original language. I'm very proud of Yashar Kemal and his works. I highly recommend you to read the books of Zülfü Livaneli who is an amazing author and musician and analyse one of his books.

The translator must have done a super duper job that you were able to enjoy this book so immensely despite reading a translation. I hope that one day you will do Elif Shafak. Many thanks.

Thank you! The translation by Edouard Roditi is exquisite. Which of Elif Shafak’s book would you suggest? I read 40 rule of love, it’s good but I wasn’t blown away.

The book that impressed me is 'Three Daughters' and the reason is because it delves into the emotional/mental/psychological conflicts that people, especially women, suffer from when trying to adjust in a western culture. The book I am reading now is 'Honours' which is again about how Middle Eastern men adhere to the same moral values they grew up even when they would have lived for so many years in the West. Keep the good work. You are very enriching.

Great analysis. Unless I missed, you haven't mentioned the parts from the second, third, or fourth books of the series. Have they also been translated into English? Or just the first book? Thanks in advance.

Thank you, sir. It was really insightful. May I make a request? Can you please do an introductory edpisode to Kurdish Literature, giving insight to various aspects like Irqi-Kurd, Irani-Kurd, Syrian-Kurd and Turkish-Kurd literatures, either seperately or together, as you may choose? Or, if there are previous episodes touching on these, would you please give the links..? Thanks in advance.

Very sad story, the part where Hatche is in her cell alone is one I remember clearly. Also Memet robbing Kerimoglu (I think it was), who seemed so kindly and friendly. I'm surprised and maybe its a good thing, there is no major attempt to adapt this again by a streamer.
