Memento Is Christopher Nolan’s best movie in my opinion and his second best is insomnia I know people are going to crucify me but that’s my opinion. Super pumped up for his new movie 2023
When Nolan talked about how easy it is to make an amnesia movie and how anything can be true, I immediately thought of Scorsese's Shutter Island. In a way, it's an excellent movie, but its easy to use that kind of story plot to deceive audiences.
Sergio Gregorius shutter island was great. also don't understand why people are confused with the very ending of the film. pretty much self explanatory with Leo's line!! agree??
Not just that but the predictability of it. I remember a friend of mine was talking to me about his 'next great film' he had ambitions to send it to film festivals etc. Essentially it followed a man with amnesia who was investigating a crime. Immediately I was like: "Let me guess, it turns out he's the killer?" and he was like: "Damn what a lucky guess". Nah, not a guess. Chris Nolan predicted my friend's movie more than a decade ago without even knowing anything about it.
Man, this is a golden video. My advice for every filmmaker or screen writer or every person involved in the procces of producing a film, do not go to a film university for 4 or 5 years. you learn just to bring coffe to the cats and crew. youtube and google are the new film schools.
Nolan always talked about subjectivity.. to this day he makes movies from the subjective point of view rather than how it is interpreted by other people. And Oppenheimer is the best example of subjective film making. I guess that's unique for Chris.
Nolan was right about the dense vastness of Ridley Scott's late productions, I have nothing against that, in fact I like it and I see nothing against aspiring to greatness, but I think it is a prediction of what Nolan converted himself.
