Just to clear it up: Bad in German means "bath", the prefix is actualy a title for the city, like "Sir" for a person would be. To gain the title "Bad" the city has to provide some kind of cure bath(mineral baths, salt baths, etc...) a regualar pool doesn't suffice. Also the air needs to be of high quality and it needs to be "beautiful"
note that none of that actually has to be still true, most of those cities got their names in the medieval times and they just stuck whether or not they have any of that still :D
