Even the late 90s had a distinctly different vibe that I didn’t really care for. Maybe it’s partly because I started high school and lost that pollyanna innocence but something about the culture changed too. Just let me loop through 1985-1996 for the rest of my days.

A lot of films had that “people who just seen the movie in the theater” reaction commercial in the 90s. Never seemed genuine to me. Even for bad movies. I’ve never heard anyone talk how great a film was as they were walking out of the theater, let alone be that happy about it and I saw Land before Time, Batman (1989), who framed Rodger rabbit and twister on their opening weekends in the theater.

@@WhitefolksT eh, there's a fuck TON of adult cable/satellite content. But the softcore stuff just vanished. Even when it comes to premium TV shows.

What happened was that Cinemax got sued by the main actress Anne Lee Green from the TV show Femme Fatales back in like 2013 or 2014. The lawsuit was over the fact the producer always wanted her naked in the show. There's dispute over whether or not it was in her contract, or if it was legally binding if it was. There also might have been a counter suit. I don't know the outcome (aledgedly she was losing the case and was on the hook for at least 89k for breaking said Contract) but it killed that whole exploitation Friday night block of original shows. Either way the writing was on the wall as mainstream sjw nerd news outlets caught wind of the lawsuit like i09, (that's not a dig at sjw's btw, just an observation) and started scrutinizing similar shows. Even bigger shows like True Blood, Spartacus, and Game of Thrones. And then add to the fact that the #MeToo movement would happen just a few years later. Eventually Cinemax said they was moving away from producing softcore original content in order to basically wash their hands of the situation.

Oh, and the spice channel was the SHIT!
