This has been an impossibly hard time for us all...Saturday, January 9th 2015, with all it's love, laughter, tears (and a few weirdy sweary bits!) has hopefully allowed us all to breathe and work on closure (of a sort). Due to such an outpouring from the fans these memories of the service & celebration of Lemm's life are here for us to enjoy. Thank you all for being with us and let's stick together and keep Motörhead alive.

There'll never be another like him. Before he died, he was asked how he'd like to be remembered, and he said, "as an honest man." You were that, man.

What you get from an Hawkwind apprenticeship....I'm sure he wasn't aping the Ashton's. This man came from the relentless throb of Hawkwind...he started using the pick bits n between his fingers to get the treble twang of guitar strings under..or over? The bass notes .. brilliant...lynot was good bassfront..Bruce too..but lem had the ultimate bassfront chops

I saw motorhead open up for iron maiden in the mid 2000s. My section wasn't very full yet but I was wearing a motorhead shirt and screaming my head off. I'll never forgot when he pointed his bass directly at me and gave me a head knod.

Years ago, I used to bounce at the Rainbow, where Lem, when he was in town; could always be found, sitting at the back-bar usually by himself. It's hardly uncommon to see famous musicans there, but the first time I saw him, I nearly froze! The rest of the bouncers all gave me 'the look' and "yeah yeah'd" me, which I couldn't understand... till a few weeks in & seeing him nightly washed off the shock of it. He always had a zinger, delivered dead-pan, that you'd ponder on for a moment, & well after he'd walked away, the punchline would sink in & leave you in stitches. He was always cordial & gracious. It got to the point where we'd greet each other nonchalantly, I... forgetting that he was a motherfucking ROCK ICON. he was just.. Lem. Another loved regular. One night, I wander into work a bit late, & lem is already there. He had a 6'3" 19-20 year old girl in a dress that looked more like a super hero outfit, sitting on his knee & he chatting her up with a twinkle in his eye. I find this amusing, & a glance around the room reveals that nearly everyone else does too. At one point, he leaps up, grabs the girls purse & tosses it to her, smacks her on the arse & snatches her hand & drags her out of the bar. At this very moment, 'Ace of Spades' begins roaring out of the house stereo... & I remembered who he really is. It's not hyperbole, what they all say of him. Sure... He could be a little dismissive with fan-boys: fan-boy chode #1: *"ERHMEHGERD!?!??! Your Wmmie Kiwmeester!!?!?!* fan-boy chode #2: *"huuUuuUhuHHuH.... yA... yOIU... U R DA SHIT!!!!!!"* Lem: ( without looking away from his video poker game ) *"oh.. izat whut at smell is... eh... aven't stood up in a while."* But with his friends, there was no pretense, & no filter. He loved people out loud & treated them like family. Better than family. Lemmy had that rare & magic trait of being so genuine that it rubbed off on other around him, & you could feel that & see it in how people reacted while hanging with him. When I think of a Rock Star, I tend to think of uniqueness & individuality. ya know... like, copying them is cool when you're 13/14 & jammin' in your room, but when you come of age, you've gotta shine on your own & in your own way... Then I think, why can't we all be like that. No, there will never be another... and yet those traits should in no way be unique. So, let's all take after Lemmy, yeah!? *Rock out loud, live out loud, love out loud & make no excuses!* *Riff in Peace Lem*. We'll see you on the other side. feel free to share yer own stories about him here, in thread *p.s.* Paul Kilmister mentions Lemmy's little 'doodles' & hand-drawn comics... I'd love to see them meself! I'm sure I'm not alone in that respect. A wish for a posthumous publication for an intimate look into the enigmatic fella himself. That aside, I howled during his immensely loving eulogy.

In the early eighties I played drums in a relatively unknown N.W.O.B.H.M. band called Legend. We had just set up as a support band at the Marquee club to Bernie Tormes Electric Gypsies . After setting up we went over to a bar across the street ,when who should walk past but Lemmy, wearing his trademark leather jacket with the studded ace of spades on the back. One of our roadies ran out and told him Bernie was playing at the Marquee to which came the gravelly reply “ I’m on my way there now “After the gig we met Lemmy and he bought one of our records as we asked him for advice on how to get ahead in the music business to which he replied “ You never know your luck , keep at it, you just never know your luck “ Fucking amazingly unpretentious and humble soul. R.I.P sir 🤟🏼

His son was amazing. Funny, honest, direct. Imagine having to pick yourself up off the floor and doing it with THAT anecdote about your mother . Unbelievable. Dave Grohl was genuine in his hero worship, and the part with the signed leaflet was incredibly moving. Lemmy was clearly more than just a rock n roll star, but to me he defined a sound, a style, a look, an attitude, a NOISE, that not only did no one replicate, no one ever could. A true legend.

I always loved motörheads music but to be honest i think it was his kindness and his honesty which made him more than a singer to me. he became a true hero (personally) because he was one of the rare people who can be funny, badass, rock n roll, happy and at the very same time kind undertstanding and honest I will really miss him but I hope at least some will remember him and what he stood for and realize that he was really unique which in todays music world sadly doesnt seem to exist anymore

Several years ago I walked into a local bar on a Tuesday night with a friend of mine and we sat down and ordered a drink. About 5 minutes later we noticed a tall scraggly man playing pinball over in the corner and after several minutes of glances and stares, we realize that it is Lemmy, all alone, playing video games and drinking a jack and coke. My friend and I finally get the courage to walk over and say hello and I can say with as much conviction as anyone here who knew him for decades that that man was so profoundly polite and nice to us that it blew my mind. Not a shred of pretentiousness and he took several minutes to talk with us, have a smoke and take some pictures. He then invited us to his show the following night and we left him to his game. I’ve met several well known musicians in my life and Lemmy was the only one who didn’t give me the vibe that he was annoyed by me. Memory Eternal Lemmy, and thanks for the drink that night in Spokane, Washington. 🍻

Lemmy and cliff Burton are the reason I am a bass player today. I know will never be half as cool as Lemmy but I know I am doing what he loved to do and that is playing and raising hell while jamming out my amp so loud the people 2 blocks away will hear it !!!!!

I got chills from the Feedback ! This was beautiful. Thank you so much for sharing. I always wanted to sit and talk with Lemmy. That will have to wait. You are much missed and never forgotten, you are one of my great influences. Thank you Lemmy, for being 'You"!!!

I've listened to Motörhead a lot over the last roughly 20 years, since high school really, and saw them live only once as part of Gigantour with Megadeth and Volbeat in 2012 and was hurt when Lemmy passed away. Despite that I never really knew the whole story of Lemmy and the band other than the music. Only in the last couple of years have I come to appreciate Motörhead more and more and begin to really cherish that night in 2012 when I saw them. I visited the Rainbow while in LA this past January and got to sit at the bar next to Lemmy's spot and was in awe while at the same time wishing he were still alive to share a Jack & coke with him. I've watched this a couple of times now and I'm in even more awe of not just how much of a badass he was but also how great of a human being he was. I laughed when Triple H, Rob Trujillo and Rob Halford shared their stories and ugly cried when his son Paul and Dave Grohl spoke about him. There will never be another like him and he will live on through Motörhead's music hopefully long after we've long passed ourselves. RIP Ian 'Lemmy' Kilmister \m/ ♤

Found this by chance, not particularly a big Motörhead fan but having lost my Dad and Mum too thought his son made a fantastic obituary, it must have been very difficult and emotional for him. Much respect.

I met Lemmy and spoke with him he was a very good morality man who loved making and performing music who had love for his fans that were the reason he was able to make a career doing so. He had some of what I considered good punk inside him. He was not a poser at all like his son says. He was a true rock star who was a roadie for Jimmy Hendrix and I think Black-Sabbath yet spoke with me like a friend. When he said it is nice to talk to someone who knows whats going on I told him" I know Motorhead is considered heavy Metal or Hard Rock band. However I being a Gen X Surfer/Surf Punk I think Motorhead has some good punk rock sound in some of your sound as well and I like it a lot. He smiled shook his head the yes way. I was happy to learn of his friendship of some kind with The Ramones his dating or more? and performing with Wendy O Williams of the Plazmatics. I heard him in an interview later say "If not for our long hair you might think we were a punk band. That and hearing that there was a drink they named the Lemmy at least where he frequented. It was A Jack and Coke ! RIP Lemmy hope we meet again when I pass if I can make it up to the better place where I am sure You must be! Your music will carry on!

In all things he was true to himself. He lived rock n roll, always cared about his fans, and had a hilarious sense of humour. He wouldn't allow bad language around women, he treated them with respect. He said that most love is unrequited, that's where all the best songs come from. He lived his life on his own terms, and expected others to do the same. RIP Lemmy, and Thank You.
