Many resorts we've visited, and this one included, close their pools as soon as it gets dark outside. We saw people in the pool after hours and nobody told them anything. We stayed in the diamond club room, and while everything worked fine including the AC, the room was outdated.
Food was good in the diamond club were we stayed, it's a dedicated buffet only for diamond club. For dinner we tried the main buffet and what we really liked was a big selection of see food; few options for fish, lots of shrimps, crabs.Meat no problem here with pork, chicken and beef always available.Fresh fruits and salads also available. The only problem when we were there was the AC in the main buffet, on and off few times. We are big sea food lovers and it's hard for us to judge other food 😀
From the lobby, you may explore the hotel beautiful nature on foot. The hotel is quite huge, so be prepared to walk a fair bit. Sidewalk filming it's a mixed combination of being close to nature by walking and a red flag for those who prefer not to do much walking when on vacation and instead chose to stay in smaller hostels.
It all comes down to your budget and preferences. For adults only, we like Melia Cayo Coco, and for families, we like Iberostar Playa Pilar. Remember that Iberostar is not the best option for a beach with a sand entrance because the majority of the beach entrance is rocky. For beach front hotels, Memories probably has the best beach in the area.
