Absolutely love these guys. Saw the group at Whittier College 1957, such great entertainers. Bob would make humorous voices - he was definitely the comedian. Thank you thank you.
As a lifetime Freshmen fan (1953) this is a fitting tribute to two wonderful people who gave us so much enjoyment for a very long time...thank you....freshmen fanatic
wonderful.a part of me went with them.i first heard them in 1950ish and listened to them all my life what joy they brought me over the years.yes i had a tear watching this with a glass of red.god bless them all.
Saw them with Kenton at homecoming Ohio state 1960. Was mesmerized and coulda cared less about my date, just wanted to watch, listen to them and Kenton. 😊
Yaz, I just discovered this wonderful tribute. Thank you so much. There is one picture at 2:11 showing the Freshmen and all the wives and kids. That is me, fourth from the right. There is Dad, sister Debbie, Mom, and me, Steve Flanigan. If possible, I would love to have a copy.
I don't see you listed on other tracks @Steve Flanigan, so I'm sorry to ask you this here, but what kind of horn did your dad play? The Freshmen were the first music I heard at age 7, and I wanted to be one when I was little. I tried drums and wasn't coordinated enough for it, and wound up on trombone. Loved your dad and his playing and singing. Thanks
Class, total class. ----------------Mr Sinatra said it best : " Folks, you can wait around & hope, but you'll not see or hear the likes of this, again " --------------he said it better than I ever could.--------------------WolfSky9, 74 y/o
There was never any better blended voices in tight harmony than the Freshman. They are still at it on group 25 or 26. Join the Four Freshman Society and keep up with them.
What a nice program you made for us! The four Freshmen's sound is forever remaining among us. I started to listen this music 50 years ago, when I was a hight school student in Japan. Still the vivid memory and the emotion of mine exist together with the harmony of Four Freshmen. Thank you.
Thank you for your nice words. It seems you & I are in the same generation and having common musical interest. I would appreciate it if you could drop notes to my e-mail address .
What a great tribute, Yas! Excellent job on this! 2011: the year that our last two original Four Freshmen, Bob and Ross, passed away-- and within months of one another. What sweet sounds and sweet memories! Thank you!
Yas, this is a beautiful tribute. The historical photographs and the music selection are wonderful. Thanks you for preparing this video and posting it for all Freshman fans.
Excellent tribute. Thank you. One thing, you list the first number, "For All We Know," as featured on an album of the same name. Interested in the band who accompany them, I looked up the Freshmen's discography and there is no album listed called "For All We Know." Can this number be from an album called "The Four Freshmen and Five Saxes" (1957)?
Yas... this is great... chick trafford, my brother, would be elated. I miss him, lots. But the Freshman are special. There will be many occasions when we will remember. Beth Peters (Trafford)
THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH for this Slide Show, like paging thru a special album like we used to have in our families pre-digital, pre-colour photos too! The compilations, several albums all on a CD!? How can I get mine? Or do they exist any more? It was wonderful to see the albums I used to have. A bad husband wouldn't let me bring my collection from Winnipeg in 1972 when we moved to Powell River BC. I did find a giant music store in Toronto and was able to buy several CD's that replaced some of my albums. Gosh, once you really love some music it follows you forever. STILL my favourite music !! ALL -TIME best song? And Their Hearts Were Full of Spring !!
They had an album cover with a transistor radio on it in a garage sale but the record was all scratched up [ there was a $60 do -wop record there RUMBLE THE PARGONS MEET THE JESTERS but the cover was split and the record fell out and broke in the driveway []. .
I've been an Uber Fan since I discovered them in the 1950 whilein the Marines. I have had the pleasure of attending dozens of shows and stiil at age 80 see them several times a year.Simply the Best !!!!!
