Calverton Colliery-Opened as an autonomous colliery unit in 1952.The colliery was fitted out with some of the latest technology and several different types of coal cutting machines.Princess Margaret made an underground visit on the 7th April 1954.Maximum output of 1,243,056 tonnes in 1963-1964 with 1,827 miners.In total 19 miners lost their lives at the mine,may they rest in peace.
