The weapons at 0:06 are well known in Rwanda and Burundi. The sword is called "inkota" in kirundi, I think it's the same in kinyarwanda. The wooden sheath is called "ubwubati" in kirundi. And indeed it was first used as a walking stick by local notables. The sword's primary purpose was self-defense against a potential aggressor, however, The holder needs to be careful not to pull the sword out of the wooden sheath in the presence of peaceful people, as it has the same terrifying symbolic meaning as digging up the hatchet(i. e. declaring war). Genocide perpetrators used it massively for their massacres

Kafui how can I contribute to put The General's museum into shape. Am prepared to contribute my widow's mite to make his museum presentable. It's not good the way it's scarted about, not good for preservation. Humble suggestion please.

In Kagame's full 46mins speech of the 30th anniversary of said topic, there was no mention of the Ghanaian delegation. He did apologize for any potential omissions but by listening to him, you could tell that the speech was a very well-thought through message meant to make a definite statement and set the record straight from his point of view. He made sure to point blame (directly or indirectly) where he believes blame is due (eg. Gen Dalliaire, France, DR Congo). He also appeared to be careful to praise entities he believes were of true help to Rwanda (eg. he made sure to mention the Senegalese soldier who lost his life saving some Tutsis, South Africa, etc). Finally, it also appears to me that he deliberately chooses to ignore those he wishes to forgive and/or forget. Is it possible that in writing the story from a Ghanaian peacekeeper point-of-view, there may have been an overestimation of the contribution to Rwanda as seen from a Rwandan point-of-view?! Perhaps, did Rwanda expect more from the Ghanaian delegation during those times while acknowledging that they were under the command of the Canadian general?! Is it possible that the awards given by Rwanda to the Ghanaian delegation over the years after the war may be diplomacy meant to keep a fellow African country close to Rwanda's in the midst of continuous threat to Rwanda by other countries?! Under the command of Gen Dalliaire, Gen. Anyidoho mentioned saving some Americans civilians. Were there similar stories of saving Tutsis?!

Very thoughtful remarks my brother, I visited the genocide memorial grounds in Kigali in 2018. I literally broke down seeing the kind of evil that prevailed. At the end of the tour were remarks from some World leaders during that time and it was surprising to know Dr. Kofi Annan was the UN General Secretary. I was disappointed. The UN failed to honour the obligation to prevent this mass slaughter. Indeed they did expect more from Ghanaians and I did not see Ghanaian soldiers being acknowledged for playing a role during the genocide. Maybe they have updated the list of people who played key roles in saving a lot.

The UN secretary general in 1994 was an Egyptian, Boutros Boutros-Ghali. Kofi Annan was, however, Under-Secretary-General for peacekeeping in 1994. That said, I now feel disappointed, just as you did, learning that these two senior African officials failed to do enough to prevent this calamity. We may owe Rwanda an apology after all.

A registrar at Lekma magistrate court told me point blank and in the presence of others that she hates ewes. Eventually, I have to forget about the case
