The first time I heard this was on The Benny Goodman Story. He wrote this for his wife to be. That was their theme song. It almost brings a tear to hear it and see him putting all he has into it and him so aged. Benny Goodman and Glenn Miller were the two that shaped the music of the WW2 era. The rest just played catch-up. There were good bands but those were tops. Bill, from Tn. 🇺🇸
I close my eyes and am transported back to those days in the late 30's and 40's listening to this magnificent music played by the best. Oh the memories
A master at work! Because of my mom and an older sister I knew him, Glenn Miller, the Dorseys, etc when I a kid in the early 50's as RnR arrived. Loved it all and still do! Thank you for posting this
Thanks for sharing this classic video. My late grandfather used to play this on his clarinet, it was his favorite song. Seeing and hearing Mr. Goodman play like that reminds me so much of him.
I should have been a younger man in the 1920's through the 1940's. I liked the people better back then, the cars better back then and I really liked the music better back then.
Benny is probably the greatest clarinetist! I started playing Bb tenor saxophone in 1965 and shortly after that I watched the Benny Goodman story with Steve Allen.....I went out and bought a clarinet and have been practicing ever since but cannot match the talent and the performance of Benny Goodman...!
Perfection in sound and mood from Goodman, and thanks to someone's magic with computer, this is the best quality I've ever heard from this Macbook Pro. What a treat! Thank you so very much.
That hurt you feel is the price you payed for for having her in your life . I'M sure if the good lord had offered you that joy at double the charge ... you would have grabbed that deal in a HEARTBEAT ... I hear this music and my heart goes out to you
Benny lives!! I am a muscian, and he is a great influence in playing no matter which instrument I am on .. sometimes he and I just hang out in my little studio.. well.. you know what I mean.
+Joanette Mallo Kindred spirit. This is my "go to" song for a bad day at work - also "Goodbye" is a good one for bedtime - Benny works like a charm every time!
This is simply magnificent on so many levels. His style, his tone...everything. Perfection looks and sounds just like this. When the good Lord wants to hear a clarinet ballad, well, you know the rest.
@CaptainAmerica322 ROCK ON MAN! You are a young man of taste and sensibility... If only the rest of your age group would be as open-minded... or well-informed!
I don't know what to say really......I REALLY LOVE THIS PIECE IMMENSELY!!!Oh MY GOD...If I could only blow this piece right......I shall be most gratified...
to CaptainAmerica322, Son, it is a matter of age. If you really like music, you'll see when you are older, you'll love this music as I do. I am a trumpet player and I like every kind of music but Jazz is my favorite, I can´t live without it. My name is Nelson and I live in Argentina.
Two wonderful wonderful gifts to the world !!! This marvellous Eubie Blake number, rendered by these excellent musicians. Whenever I listen to this song, I am reminded of Eubie Blake's remark on his 100th birthday. He quipped: "If I knew I would live to 100, I would have taken better care of myself" Thank you for sharing this gem.
"Benny, Benny, not tha jazz!" I think his music instructor when Benny was a boy leaning away from classical music was wrong. Benny Goodman was still killing them at that age, beautiful!
I believe it was his classical training that made him the great clarinetist that he is/was. The great masters are the periodic chart of all truly beautiful music.
