This was a great interview. However, I would've loved to see Bananarama mentioned in the interview. They were very important for the S/A/W factory.

Come on Mike, it was the talk of the country Neighbours before it moved time slots was in loads of PR......I remember when Neighbours first came out and was in many papers/magazines in the UK....

Stock/Aitken were in the studio for most of their waking hours five days a week, working into late evening--I don't think they were paying much attention to soaps and coverage of them in the popular press! Having said that, Mike Stock isn't entirely off the mark. When "I Should Be So Lucky" was recorded (in 1987) Neighbours had daytime slots only in the UK. It wasn't until early '88 that the second showing was moved to "tea time." Which, oddly enough, coincided with "I Should Be So Lucky" entering its way into the charts... Probably fair to say that, at that time, the success of Neighbours and Kylie(/Jason) bounced off each other.

Legend is a term we throw around, but Mike Stock truly is. He's such a gentleman too. Imagine him producing Dua Lipa. What a combo.

I feel like Mike Stock + Oscar Holter & Max Martin would be an amazing combo

'Most of the modern ones wouldn't want to work with me' which is exactly where its all gone wrong when a hit making talent like this is now snubbed in favour of the terrible robotic, autotune loving producers which the market is now swamped with. Awful sound and would love a return to more melodic 80's song structure in the charts as modern pop is unbearable and in dire need of reform.

We have returned to 80’s song structure and melody though….”How do I make you love me” by The Weeknd sounds like S.A.W.

Just checked the UK Charts in 1990 as I remember being frustrated how can it be, that such a smash new sound hit of Kylie could not reached number one? who kill it? KILLER of Adamski! He was the number one in May 1990 Than Elton John came around in June with sacrifice ....But still, number 2 among so many " new wave " artists. It was a "damn" 1990, a beginning of a new era. Kylie ´s Better The Devil has completely nothing to do with her previous hits, new sound, new look. She was madly in love and you could see and hear it. talkaboutpopmusic.com/2020/05/17/charts-uk-top-40-singles-chart-20th-may-1990/
